Wonderful camp with fabulous mud hut to rival any mud hut (earth pod). Fabulous architecture in Gaudi style.
Our hosts Sarah and Jonti were brilliant ..nothing was too much for them .
We were lucky to have some great other guests who added to a really enjoyable 3 days. The food is communal style and was really good. I recommend you get there early as the canapés and drinks were great.
The wild life was breath taking with Mount Kenya as a backdrop. The northern Kenyan animals were so special ..the white rhinos, zebras , giraffes, ostriches…and a lion kill and leopard thrown in as well.

Lewa Wildlife Conservancy, combined with Ngara Ndara forest, is a 250 square kilometres wildlife sanctuary in northern Kenya established in 1995. It specializes in protecting northern white rhino and Grevy's zebra but also contains a very large number of other large mammals and birds. We visited (as a family of 4 adults) and stayed at Lewa House, one of a few different options for accommodation in the conservancy. The options for wildlife sightings were superb, all groups are in individual land cruisers and there are only ever 3 looking at a particular group of wildlife as careful restrictions apply, and the animals are often 5-10 metres away. (Lions, cheetah, leopard, elephant, buffalo, white and black zebra, giraffe, monkeys, and many more in a 3 day trip).
The organization also provides an amazing monitoring system to track individual animals across the whole country, which you can see in action. There is also a lot of community support and involvement so that local people are fully on board and involved with the conservation work, and supported with provision of healthcare, education provision and specific initiatives eg women's finance projects.

This amazing site truly deserves UNESCO status. This carefully managed pristine wilderness offers a trip back in time to observe animal behavior free from human interference. Black rhinos, a herd of 100 plus elephants, Somali ostriches, Grevys zebras, lions, leopards, cheetahs and more. Observed lions hunting and enjoying their hartebeast dinner. We are grateful to had the opportunity to visit this place. And if you are a runner, the Lewa marathon (full and half) is offered in June along the dirt roads of the conservancy

The wildlife viewing was outstanding, and the Lewa House was perfect for our family of seven in three cottages. Highly recommend it. Very friendly staff as well. The rhino recovery effort is especially impressive.

We spent 2 days in Lewa and had the chance of getting some exposure to the remarkable work that is conducted in this conservancy. Their approach to the community is highly commendable and done thoughtfully and efficiently. Truly a place to visit to learn about great practices in animal protection.

We had the most magical experience at Lewa. I could not recommend it highly enough.
We visited during the ‘rainy season’ and I would argue it is the best time of year to see Kenya. The lush green grass planes contrasting with the breathtaking mountains, detailed with an abundance of brightly coloured flowers, butterflies and birds made us feel as though we were in some kind of Disney film! We saw so many incredible animals and their babies- rhinos, elephants, giraffes, zebras, ostrich, baboons. The full list of all the animals that we saw would be too tedious for you to read! We also had an unbelievable experience with the lions after looking for them for a couple of days- we finally tracked them by hearing them roar early one morning and also saw them mating. David was our guide, and he was absolutely fantastic- sisi ni marafiki. David is extremely knowledgable and great fun too.
We stayed at Kifaru house and from the moment we arrived, to the moment we left, we were treated like queens. The hospitality and food were second to none. We could not fault it, and even if we could, I have no doubt the team would have done everything they could to remedy it.
The important conservation work and the way in which the conservancy is managed is admirable. From spending time there, you really get to appreciate how much the people working there and in the surrounding communities care about where they live and also the animals they live with. This is no tourist spot for ticking off the big five on demand- this is a place to appreciate what Mother Nature has to offer and to soak in every drop of the atmosphere and perfection that is Lewa, whilst admiring the animals for what they are. We didn’t get to see the leopards or cheetahs on this trip- and neither of us were in the least bit disappointed. We had so much fun looking for them and every moment felt like a true safari!
Safaris can be expensive, but if you have the dream to do safari, you must go to Lewa- it is absolutely the best thing we have ever done. We cannot thank Sacha and his team enough for all the effort they put in to hosting us.

Family Safari with grandson. Everything for Everyone, enjoyed a dip in the swimming pool while watching elephants at near by water hole.Sundowner cocktails in the wild and sunrise with hot chocolate with game drive. Bush dinner was exquisite, they could have served better just mashed potatoe and stew didn't do justice. The cook was excellent in presenting delicious starters all freshly picked salad and vegetables from their own organic garden. Friendly staff and personalised service, clean cottage rooms very cosy.

My son and I visited Lewa during our 9 night safari in Kenya. It is a beautiful area with friendly people. We learned a lot and appreciate their efforts against poaching and the protection of black rhinos.

Tips for a daytrip to Lewa for 1 person coming from Isiolo.
Hello! This upcoming friday (11 October) or next sunday (13 October) I'm staying in Isiolo and would like to go to Lewa one of the days.
I was wondering if I could get a tour easily in Isiolo itself or do I need to book?
Is it possible to go along with another group or can I only go alone? (Because I think it gets expensive then?
Is it easy to get from Isiolo to the park?
And the last one: is it better to go the friday or the sunday?
Thank you in advance!

How is the weather, animal behavior in January?
Đã viết vào 27 tháng 1, 2018
The weather in January is usually hot and dry, wear light and also carry some bug spray.
Caution and safety is always paramount, the animals are in their natural habitat. Though Lewa has a huge number of guides to assist you through the your stay.
