Loved it!
It has been my dream to hike across the bay at Mont-Saint-Michel during low tide. I didn’t realize how difficult it would be to find an English speaking guide so was more than happy when Stephane emailed saying “tour is in French but i can do some comments in English”. A total understatement! Stephane was wonderful and repeated everything in English for us and answered any questions we had. The views of Mont-Saint-Michel from Tombelaine Island were stunning and we enjoyed hiking through the rivers and experiencing the quicksand. This was the highlight of our trip to France!

We were the only English speaking members in the group. Stephane went out of his way to explain everything to us in English. He was able to switch between both languages while keeping the tour moving and he made us feel very welcome. The hike to Tombelaine was amazing and we really enjoyed the scenery and the adventure. Highly recommend.

Pointless, unpleasant, seemingly endless bare-foot trudging!

I booked an English language tour but we were the only English on it. So he spent 80% of the time talking to the French and 20% talking to us.
I imagined it would be walking around Mont Sant Michel with the guide providing info about it. There is reference to going to Tomberlaine Island in the description but I didn't sppreciate it would be so far away and so unimpressive.
What the tour actually was was a long hard slog in the cold in bare feet over difficult terrain (alternating between knee high water / hard sand with little stones and shells / slippery, sinking clay-sand) 2.5 km away from Mont Sant Michel in order to see a small island with nothing on it and then a long hard slog back. I can't understand why there are positive reviews for this... it seems pointless and unpleasant.
It should just be an hour going around Mont Sant Michel. He would still be able to give all the info he did in 3 hours without so much unnecessary bare-foot trudging!
Had I known what it was going to be like I would have turned around and gone back to my hotel.
To be avoided!

Next time you have to read the description of the tour and a minimum of a sportive condition is necessary to do the tour... about the langage the tour is in French but i can give some explanations in English.. don't be surprised by it, i wroted it by message before the tour and you accepted it but in fact i think the tour was too much difficult, too much sportive for you ...

Mooie manier om Mont saint Michel te ontdekken. Gids vertelt interessante info over t wad, drijfzand en de geschiedenis van de plek. 3 uur ben je wel bezig, maar tijd genoeg om erna nog het ‘stadje’ in te gaan. Aanrader!

Une expérience extraordinaire avec une guide qui nous a fait prendre conscience de la vitesse à laquelle remonte la marée. Nos ados ont également pu tester les sables mouvants. Et pour les parents photographes, des points de vue exceptionnels!

La baie ne laisse jamais indifférent... les amateurs de belles photos sont ravis et la découverte des sables mouvants est le moment tant attendu par les jeunes et les moins jeunes...

Ein unvergessliches Erlebnis von dem ich heute noch schwärme!!!
Der Ausflug mit Stephane war ein absolutes Highlight meines Besuchs am Mont St. Michel und ich schwärme heute noch vor Freunden und Familie davon!! Der mehrstündige Marsch erfordert definitiv ein gewisses Maß an Ausdauer und belohnt dafür allerdings mit unglaublichen Aussichten auf Mont St. Michel und das Umland. Auf jeden Fall kommt man nicht trocken zurück. ;) Wir sind bis zum Mont Tombelaine marschiert, haben dabei Flüsse passiert wo uns das Wasser teils bis über die Knie ging. Am Berg haben wir dann noch den Gipfel bestiegen und wurden mit einer fulminanten Aussicht belohnt. Nach einer Umrundung des Bergs gings dann zurück zum Start mit einem kleinen Abenteuer im Treibsand, wo uns Stephane zeigte wie man sich daraus befreit, was ziemlich aufregend war. Dabei versorgte uns Stephane permanent mit nützlichen und witzigen Informationen und hielt uns schonmal ein Ei eines Rochens oder eine während des 2. Weltkrieges von amerikanischen Schiffen importierte Muschel vor die Nase. Ich hatte definitiv meinen Spaß und empfehle die Tour wärmstens weiter. Es war wirklich grandios. Man sollte allerdings ein gewisses Maß an Ausdauer besitzen mit einer Brise Entdeckerdrang. Einfach Top!!!

Enjoyed: interesting walk with some info, the amazing view of mont saint michel that you only get from that point of view, doing something a little atypical from the usual touristy things

Could be improved: more info on the geographical features in that area, more history about mont saint michel and how it came to be etc would be nice.

Thank you for your review... i'm happy you enjoyed the walking tour and i noticed you would like more historical comments ... why not but it's more the job of the guide of the abbaye of the Mont Saint Michel. My job is to show you the bay and differents view of Mont Saint Michel...and 03 hours is a limited time :))

If the guide would show up, that would be good. We arrived at ten to nine and we're able to keep the area in view for nearly an hour.

Bonjour, If you were reading the time of departure in your mail box on viator i sent to you on august 22, The time of the departure was at 10h00 in the morning and not at 09h00 !!! I was coming at the meeting point at 09h45 and i was waiting for you untill 10h05 but you didn't came and all the people were here except you... and you didn't phoned and sent a message to find me? you had my phone number on your ticket!!! So if you would show up at the meeting point at the good time it would be good also.... Best regards Stephane GUENO

a walk with a view

De wandeling is leuk, vooral als het mooi weer is, en voor kinderen. Het is zowel natuur, cultuur, water, modder... Het is ongeveer 6 km, en onderweg krijg je mont saint michel van alle kanten te zien.
