Central town built by the Romans is uncovered. Highest walls left standing are only five feet but you can get a sense of what was going on here.

Very expensive for what it is. Some old ruins of a Roman site but for £33 (family) that’s expensive. We was there for 15 mins as nothing to do. I’m surprised by the reviews, when you consider other activities for this cost. Really disappointed.

A beautiful town. Very historic Tower. Great bakery. Easy to walk round. Big antique centre with very reasonable prices

an amazing place to visit, with a nice museum attached, would definitely recommend waiting for the guided tour, our guide was a font of knowledge, very little that he didn't know about the romans

The museum is fascinating and the site is very good. It has a lot of detail and is in a nice area with good views. I'm sure it's a winner on a nice sunny day
Plenty of places to walk about and the remains are quite stunning..I've knocked off a star because we got a guide book as we wanted to know more about the buildings. There was five of us all excited to know what was what but I found, unusually, the guide book was hard to follow, especially in between showers. The numbers and letters on the maps didn't match up and boredom.set in for the family while I tried to work out the next set of buildings. It was quite hard to navigate and it would have been so much easier if, for example, the map was numbered and the book was numbered the same way with a suggested route round
Also the little maps in the corner of each building section were quite small and difficult to see against the whole site. My recommendation would be to factor in time to read the guide in a sheltered corner first and then walk round. I think we would have got a better experience. Or just skip the book and let your imagination run wild. The best bits are the grain store the old fountain, the main street and the treasure room!

An informative and interesting site set in beautiful rolling countryside. Lots of exhibits and a timeline to guide you through the history of Corbridge when you first enter. Then you can explore the ruins with an audio tour.

This is a lesser known site, but well worth a stop. The audio tour is very informative and walks you through the entire site. The ruins are well excavated and extensive. The museum, although small, is very well done. Thoroughly enjoyed it and would return.

Prachtige Romeinse opgraving in een mooi Engels stadje. Hele gezellige Inn waar we heel gastvrij zijn ontvangen tijdens flinke regenbui (met mooie kamers en eten).

An overnight stop in Corbridge en route to a holiday further north meant we could visit Corbridge Roman Town. It was a great decision! Arrived close to opening time so it was quiet, but helpful and friendly staff pointed things out to us. The free audio tour of the ruins is well worth having, but first you visit the museum which has some amazing artefacts, all extremely well laid out in a timeline. Standing outside the museum looking across the extensive ruins you are dive bombed by house martins wheeling around the building! A thoroughly enjoyable trip, but note that there is very little shade on a hot and sunny day.

What a wonderful place ! So interesting. We had a tour with an English Heritage guide, Ian I think his name was. The guy is so full of knowledge and enthusiasm. I've been on a few of these sites with guides and this was the most enjoyable I've had. So many different views and thoughts on this and that. Just so informative and so much fun to be around. Thank you.

I have to walk from corbridge to chollerford in the same day but I'd like to stop for a visit and the Roman site. How long do you recommend to spend there to worth the visit?

Hi, between half an hour and one and a half hours would be fine depending on how much you follow the audio tour or not.
It is worth a visit though, however short.
