The monumental cathedral- built in Baroque style with classicist notes-, evoked ambivalent feelings in me. Compared to the size of the town, the surprisingly large church is impressive in its size, but I wouldn’t say it’s beautiful. Sure, there are those who find it appealing, but then "de gustibus non est disputandum". On the façade, six Corinthian columns hold a protruding ledge. In the line of these columns, there are statues of six apostles.
There are two truncated towers on each side with two large windows and also a great clock. To me, the whole thing seems brittle rather than welcoming.
The interior of the church with four side altars, on the other hand, is very decorative, has beautiful paintings. I especially liked the fresco on the dome ceiling and the picture of the meeting of the Virgin Mary and St. Elizabeth on the main altar. Above the platform is a half dome, and next to it, an ornate pulpit. The designer was apparently in love with the Corinthian columns. In fact, the use of columns makes the space more impressive. Next to the walls are the aforementioned Corinthian half-columns, and the organ and choir are held by six Corinthian columns.
The acoustics of the church and the grand organ make the cathedrals suitable for concerts.
There is a crypt under the church. It served as a burial place to church dignities. The location of the cathedral is also very lucky because it is only a short walk from the Danube. It’s a functioning Catholic church, so if you want to see it from the inside, first find out about the Mass.

Nagyon szép város csodás múemlékekkel. Különösen a székesegyház lenyügőző. A hölgy, aki a bejáratnál könyveket árul, nagyon kedves volt, segítőkészen útbaigazított. Minden műemléket megnéztünk. A Memento Mori múzeum személyzete barátságtalan, unott volt. Az utca emberétől kértünk többször segítséget, itt viszont készséges, kedves embereket ismertünk meg. Ezért a nevezetességek mellett jó élménnyel távoztunk.

Katedrala u Vacu je izgrađena u drugoj polovini 18. veka u stilu neoklasicizma sa pomalo baroka. Spolja deluje zaista impresivno na velikom trgu okružena istorijskim zgradama. Pomalo podseća na katedralu u Egeru. Unutrašnjost je elegantna i lepo oslikana novijim freskama. Mogu se videti i pojedine monumentalne slike iz perioda baroka. Ulaz je besplatan i nema gužve tako da je možete na miru razgledati i uživati u njenoj raskoši.
