Giới thiệu
Elephant Jungle Sanctuary promotes a sustainable and ethical way of treating elephants and our little elephant village in Samui is a wonderful example of that. We opened our first sanctuary in 2014 in Chiang Mai with just three elephants, and now operate locations across four provinces in the Kingdom of Thailand.

We looked for an ethical place. This place was! We HIGHLY recommend. The elephants were happy and very sweet. The activities we did were so much fun! Staff is great, elephants are attached to staff which is nice to see. Lots of tail waging and ears flapping from the elephants.

Originally we were nervous about this event but our guides put us at ease from the start, helping us understand the difference between African and Asian elephants and facts about elephants and how the sanctuary takes care of them!
we booked the all day experience so got to meet them, bathe them, walk them and feed them!
We also got food provided and the gift shop has some beautiful gifts for memories of the day and helps to support the sanctuary and its essential work!!
At each stage our guides Chai and Sit where able to answer any questions and let us all pose for photos with the elephants and take care of them
Initially we were nervous but by the end of the day we were so so glad we did it as it was honestly a life changing experience and one we didn’t even know we wanted!
Book this and you will not be disappointed

Amazing experience with guides who knew everything about the elephants. We booked the half day experience of feeding, washing and making vitamin cakes. It was incredible to feed and care for them like we do. Thank you so much for this amazing day!

I was a bit skeptical about going but my partner loves the elephants so, off we went. What an amazing experience! Being able to interact with the animals and the knowledge and love the staff have for them makes all the difference. If you are visiting Samui then honestly, you need to spend half a day here.

My family and I recently visited The Elephant Jungle Sanctuary in Bophut Koh Samui, in August 24, and we were deeply disappointed to find that it was not the true sanctuary it claimed to be.
The whole experience seemed to revolve around repetitive controlled feeding and exploitation, with the focus on providing photo opportunities for tourists rather than supporting the elephants’ well-being.
Despite the sanctuary’s advertising, which promised that the elephants were rescued and well cared for, it became clear that the animals did not roam freely. Instead, they followed a rigid schedule designed to entertain visitors, including constant bathing by large groups and being lined up for feeding, petting, and posing for photos.
The setup felt forced, with everything geared towards entertaining visitors rather than supporting the elephants’ well-being.
The area was small, lacking any real jungle or adequate space for the elephants to roam. They were confined to designated areas for interactions with visitors, including a small pool for bathing on demand. The elephants couldn’t explore their surroundings or forage naturally. A staff member on a moped would even drive off to collect bamboo for the elephants to eat, as they couldn’t roam and find food for themselves. New feeding pens being constructed suggested even more control over their movement, with the feeding process highly orchestrated to keep the elephants in place for visitors.
While it was better than seeing elephants being ridden, they were still clearly controlled and exploited for human entertainment. The ropes around their necks, the constant management by staff, and the restricted space made it evident that these elephants were not truly free. One staff member carried a stick to keep the elephants in line, and when they tried to move away, they were shouted at and directed back into position to entertain the visitors.
One caretaker encouraged visitors to pose for photos with the elephants and even offered to kiss them, which felt entirely inconsistent with the sanctuary’s supposed mission. The staff also gave conflicting information about the elephants, further undermining our trust in the sanctuary.
I did reach out to express my concerns, and while the manager was helpful, polite, and said all the right things, the day-to-day processes and expectations for the elephants revealed a completely different story. The manager’s words and the actual treatment of the elephants were not aligned, showing a significant gap between the sanctuary’s stated mission and its operations.
We spent nearly 4,000 baht (£60) for a brief 35-minute visit. Although I’m always willing to support animal care, it felt as though our money was going towards a business more interested in profit than in the true welfare of these magnificent animals. I urge others to reconsider visiting, as this does not represent a genuine sanctuary experience.

Wonderful experience in close contact with elephants.
We prepared the food and fed the elephants and then bathed in mud with them! Really exciting!
Finally preparation of the typical dish “papaya salad” and then enjoy it together with other Thai dishes.
An unmissable excursion to Ko Samui!

The best day ever! Extremely well organised and executed. From the minute we were collected from our hotel to the minute we got dropped off again the whole experience was magical. They really do go out of their way to ensure you get the best experience. We found the information provided very useful and it’s done in a very ethical manner. The photographer was excellent and blended in to the background so you didn’t know she was there. We then had access to the photos which were excellent. The facilities for washing afterwards were good and the meal provided was very good too. Can highly recommend. I’m

Wow..What a beautiful set up.
As someone that once thought riding these magnificent creatures was "The" thing to do is Thailand, I can honestly say that spending hours just being with them, feeding them and bathing with them is a far superior experience. The EJS is set up so so well that it truly feels like you are part of a solution and not just there for the bucket list tick.
The half day option was superb, we got to learn about each elephant in the sanctuary and even got to watch a baby play with its mum in the mud pit. Feeding and washing was the absolute hi light of the day. Just seeing how big and how powerful these animal are combined with their natural sense of care and gentleness was mind blowing.
Take you time, don't be scared, the elephants are in charge, they know when to stop and are so careful in how they move around people its amazing, take a moment, look into their eyes..You will never forget it.
There a few little added extras in the day that make it really great such as the simple but really fun tie die project that helps support families and communities in other parts of Thailand and the cooking class where 5 people make a mango salad of varying chili strengths ( level 4 blew my tongue off!)
All in all a truly brillant day.
Pro tips.
1 The showers in the toilet block is quiet when everyone else is washing off after the mud pit.
2 Bring swimmers/clothes that you don't mid getting dirty and a plastic bag to transport them home in.
3 Tip big...you're helping
