Rita taught us about the traditional Indian cuisine, specifically that of Goa which is unqiue in all of India. We started off with some delicious snacks and tea which were already prepared by Rita and her staff members. We then learnt about the different spices used in Indian cuisine and how to use them. We made several dishes, such as dal fry, dal tadkha, prawn, egg curry and rice kheer. Everything turned out delicioous with Rita's help. Would recommned this class to anyone who wants to learn more about the Indian cuisine and also to cook themselves good food at home!

Amazing cocking class! Started with tasting Indian styled breakfast and a chat with the other participants. Then we got a intro into Indian spices before we started cooking. Rita was a good teacher and adapted the program according to our questions and interest.
We made different dishes (daal, curry, samosas, masala base, aloo gobi, Kerr and chai). She has precut all the vegetables so we mostly focused on how to season and cook the food. After cooking we shared the food as lunch and brought the leftovers home.
I learned a lot during this course and would absolutely recommend it!

Rita put on a special class for me s she was attending a wedding and was shut. I couldnt thank her enough for doing this as i had the best time learning all the spices and dishes. Would highly recommend this to anyone. The detail of the recipes is great and if i can follow anyone can follow. Cant wait to try these out when i het back home. Thank you so much Rita for a great day 😀😀

I’ve done cooking classes while traveling before and this one was the best yet! Rita is so welcoming and a great teacher. We were able to customize our menu and make some of the foods I’ve been wanting to learn how to cook for a long time. Now I’m confident I can do it on my own. I highly recommend!

I attended a 3 day intensive Indian & Goan cookery course plus a 1 day course on making varius indian breads and WOW, what an amazing rewarding experience.
On day one arrival, I was put at ease by Rita's husband and then was met by Rita who gave an introduction about the course and what I would be preparing during the several days I was on the course. I was shown a number of dishes from vegetarian to fish and meat and how to use alternative ingredients if some of the core ingredients were not readily available at home. I was also shown how to alter the cooking techniques to suit my induction hob as I do not have a gas hob at home. The whole experience was rewarding, and I would 100% recommend Rita's Gourmet to anyone wishing to learn and experience Indian cookery in a friendly and welcoming environment.

Great class, learnt a lot. Rita and Mukund were incredibly welcoming, insightful and interesting people!
The food itself was incredible, can’t wait to give it a go again. As the class was very hands on I feel like I got a lot of it compared to other classes I have taken.
I was travelling alone on this trip and was more than accommodated for.
Highly recommended.
Ps the location is exactly as pinpointed on Google maps for getting there.

I did the 5 day comprehensive workshop in Indian regional cuisine and had a wonderful time! Rita is an amazing instructor. She really makes sure you learn how to recreate the dishes at home (giving you any advice needed for substitutions, different kitchen equipment, different palates, etc.) and that you learn the techniques, so that you are equipped to tackle any Indian recipe from there on! The setting is lovely and the whole family and team are incredibly sweet and helpful (they offered me rides, helped me arrange transport to the airport, and were always ready to help and provide advice). You will also learn a lot about life in Goa and the history of the dishes as you cook. Absolutely recommend! Thank you Rita!

Amazing experience!!! I can’t recommend this enough. Rita is kind and compassionate about what she does. We had an amazing time exploring the markets, learning traditional goan dishes, and most importantly eating! If you come to goa this is a must do.

We had such a great experience during this amazing cooking classes. Rita is not just a fantastic cook, she is such a sweet character and passionate about Indian food. We learned the secrets about the Indian cuisine, huge highlight of our Indian trip. This class is a must before leaving Goa!

The comprehensive cooking classes sound wonderful. However, given the sheer number of dishes taught are people able to retain enough of what they learn to cook any of the dishes at home?

Yes! Nothing is rushed and it is a full day of learning. You are taught first about the basics of spices and how and where to use them. Then applying this to the recipes leaves you feeling like it is much simpler than you thought.

My cruise ship appears to offer as a shore excursion the same "Cruise-Shore Culinary Tour" advertised on the Rita's Gourmet website, but for about $USD35 more. Is there any reason NOT to book it directly through Rita's Gourmet? Thanks very much for any advice!
