The kariranga biodiversity park is a peak into the culture, traditions and history of Assamese.
The orchid display is brilliant. Other must stops are bamboo area, musical museum, 101 vegetable display.
One needs around 3-4 hours to go around. They do a light and sound show towards evening.

This delightful park is misnamed: while it does contain a fabulous orchid garden, there is also lots more. A ticket of Rs 150 per person allows you entry to the entire park area, which includes:
1. The Orchid Park: North-East India is home to some 900 species of orchids, of which 800 species grow at the Orchid Park. There are very well-informed and helpful guides here who take you (no extra charge), explaining the different types of orchids here: from vanilla to vanda, lady’s slipper to dancing lady, from parasitic orchids to ground orchids, from the world’s smallest orchid to flamboyant cattleyas. Gorgeous flowers, and also a very interesting display of carnivorous plants, like Venus fly trap and pitcher plant.
2. The Assam National Museum: A collection of Assamese heritage and cultural artifacts, including clothing, utensils, ancient weapons, household objects, palanquins, etc. Along one side, a group of weavers sit at looms and weave lengths of traditional cloth: interesting.
3. Indigenous Musical Instrument Museum: As its name suggests, a large and very well-maintained collection of local musical instrument, A very accomplished musician, disciple of the famous Dijen Gogoi, demonstrated most of the instruments for us, and also explained some details about them: what they’re made of, what is the significance, etc.
4. Souvenir Shop
5. Performance Area: This is a covered space with a stage, where every half-hour, a set of short performances of different traditional dances of Assam is held. A separate, long cultural performance is held everyday at 6:30 PM, but these short shows are a great way to see a glimpse of Assamese dances.
5. Food outlet: A small restaurant, which offers a range of Assamese thalis, as also basic pithas (deep-fried sweet cakes) and freshly squeezed juices.
6. Nursery: You can buy a range of plants and cuttings here. It’s not very big, though.
7. Children’s Play Area
8. Gorkha Museum: Showcasing various aspects of Gorkha culture: utensils, household objects, fishing traps and nets, weapons, palanquins, and so on. This is a very small museum and poorly labelled, but the local caretaker gives you a quick introduction to the exhibits, in Assamese or Hindi.
9. 101 Leafy Vegetables Garden: A compact garden with a range of herbs, some spices, and more. There are only names (local, common English and scientific) nothing else in the way of information.
10. Kaziranga National Bamboo Park: This lies a little outside the main Orchid Park area - you have to walk past the Kaziranga nursery, then along some tea gardens, and to the bamboo park beyond. The bamboos here are of 70 different species, from the world’s thickest bamboo to its thinnest, from a dwarf bamboo to a creeper variety, from ‘Buddha’s belly bamboo’ to black bamboo. The local caretaker/gardener took us around and explained it all to us; very interesting, and beautiful.
You can see as much or as little of the Orchid Park as you see fit, but I would advise spending around two hours or so here, to make the most of the experience of natural and cultural heritage.

The best part is the orchidarium which is a green house with a lot of orchids. The people over there are very knowledgeable and they provide very good information regarding the types and growth of orchids. There is a museum, cultural dances etc. Do not miss the Assamese thali.

It is a lovely place which is worth visiting. We were most surprised that there were dedicated naturalist who would explain the various varieties of orchids , explain how they grow and pollinate. There is a museum displaying the commonly used items of different tribes of Assam . There are dedicated staff, who explain explain the use of different items. There is a museum for musical instruments where different musical instruments used by tribes of Assam are displayed. There is a cactus garden, a bamboo park displaying 70 different varieties of bamboos, including black bamboo and a creeper bamboo, a vegetable garden displaying 101 varieties of vegetables. Cultural programs are organized every evenings and there is a small lake with boating facility. The park has a inhouse nursery where the plants are on sale. There is a cafe within the park also .

1) Beautiful garden with 800+ species of orchids, some of them very rare. I never thought India had such a place with such an amazing collection. There was a lady who explained us with lots of passion and patience about each and every species.
2) There are cultural shows organised as well in the park. Very entertaining and mesmerizing with dances, singing and performance. I was surprised to see how the artist were multitasking - playing musical instruments, dancing, singing.
I would recommend anyone going to Kaziranga to not miss this place.

Orchid park is a treat to the eye. The bamboo park and Museum were good. Rest all is average. The cultural show is also very entertaining. Good energy at this place. Tried Assamese Thali, which I didn't relish personally.

Will it be opened till last week of April and first week of May 2019?
Tell me about types of safari and its charges ?
Jajabor
Guwahati, Ấn Độ1.473 đóng góp
Biodiversity Orchid Park is managed by a cooperative society and that should be open in those days but Kaziranga National Park and Safari may not be there in the month of May as the KNP is open from November to April. Generally you get Jeep Safari and Elephant Safari and estimated charge is 950 per head for elephant safari and approx 750 per head for Jeep Safari.
Will park be kept open on 16 January

Hi,
Kaziranga Bio diversity park is an orchid garden along with food facility. They organise traditional concerts regularly. Thus one can enjoy Assamese food along with some Assamese cultural taste. They have a nice collection of orchids. It is open throughout the year. U can enjoy a day long trip.

I hope the elephants and other animals are not kept in captivity? Its safari, right?

While the animals are not held captive, the elephant safari is carried out on captive elephants that are broken down to listen to the Mahaut's instructions.
I would advise against the elephant safari instead to take the jeep one which is just as fulfilling.

Mumbai (Bombay), Ấn Độ139 đóng góp
Safari charges are Rs.2300 per Jeep per safari, this is for four in one Jeep. Similarly there are elephant safari where the cost could be 1000 per person.
Permit for safari needs to be taken rather names and details of people visiting have to be given in advance.

How far (by distance & time) is the Kaziranga National Orchid And Biodiversity Park from Kohora, Kaziranga National Park? Google Map shows that the Orchid & Bio Park is at a distance of 167 kms and takes 3+ hrs one way. Is that a wrong location on google maps?

Kaziranga National Park is covering Kohora as well as Bagori area. Jeep safari and Elephant safari r available through both Kohora as well as Bagori entrance, depending upon the season. as far as Orchid Biodiversity Park is concerned, its in Kohora area only. U wl find its entrance on the NH 37 itself(on your right hand side while coming from Guwahati end).
