玉山真的太美了,但有點臟,
Ngoại trừ khúc cuối lên đỉnh hơi nguy hiểm còn lại thì dễ đi,dọc đường cảnh rất đẹp,nếu đi trong 2 ngày thì có thể thưởng thưcs hết cảnh đẹp ở đây

Hi @Cheng Y, I applied for the permit today and they replied:
"Advanced application exclusively for foreigners has been filled to capacity for your chosen date. This application will be registered for a drawing instead, and the drawing will decide which teams are allotted bed spaces at Paiyun Lodge. We recommend choosing a different date to apply for advanced application."
Should I be worried? Or is this the normal reply?
Also, when will they ask a proof picture of me in the mountains above 3000m?
Thanks a lot!

Not sure if you managed to get your answers. I'm currently (a solo hiker) at Paiyun Lodge. I made my reservations rather, about 2-3 weeks prior departure. Didn't managed to apply for the advanced application for foreigners. Nonetheless, I managed to get my bed space reserved. I understand that those applied for advanced application for foreigners will get their police permit in advance together with bed space reserved at Paiyun Lodge. I didn't obviously. Nonetheless, you can get it onsite. I paid for my lodging onsite as well. It's a painless experience, so don't sweat over it. They didn't ask for proof of me hiking above 3000 metres though I was prepared to show if necessary. Hope this helps.

Transportation from Taipei to Tataka Visitor Centre., Yushan National Park
Hi all, good day to everyone. I am planning a 2 day hike at Yushan from the 14th and 15th of May. I will be on Taipei on the 12th. Wonder what is the best way to reach Tataka Visitor Centre.
Hope to hear from you guys! Thank you so much.
P.S. I have been allocated a slot at Paiyun lodge, and supposedly just pay the money for the permit at the visitor centre to get my permit confirmed. I have already emailed them to inform that I will be paying cash when I arrive.

Hi Cheng,
This is how I did it in March.
1. Taking the Taipei to Chiayi high speed train
2. Staying overnight in Chiayi, near the station.
3. Taking the 6am bus to Alishan from Chiayi bus station.
4. Taking the taxi from Alishan bus station to the Visitor Center.
If not shared, you have to huggle about the price.
Hope that helps.
Enjoy!

Hi all, good day.
We are planning to visit the Yushan National Park just for a day tour. Is this possible?
As I have read from Billy's review, they have a tour first in Sun moon lake before going to Yushan National Park. We are very eager to see the stairway to heaven of Taiwan.
We are arriving at Taoyuan Airport by 12th November 1AM.
Appreciate your advice on how can we reach Sun moon lake coming from Taoyuan and other things to do within the location.
Thanks much!

Hi! how long will you stay in Taiwan? because I think it's better to allot at least 2 days if you're coming from Sun Moon Lake to Yushan National Park. It is possible to get around the park for a daytrip but there are bus schedules/timetables if you're going there using public transportation.
You're not going to climb Yushan, right? Because if you do, you need to get permit for that as well and for a dayhike, you need to apply for permit 7 days prior to your entry date.

Hi does anyone knows hows the weather conditions like (is there snow?) hiking to the peak in January/February? As well as thoughts with camping in tents during the period.

Hi Huiyiong, I did not travel in Jan/Feb, so I really don't know the answer if there is snow. Cheers.

How easy is it to get a permit to hike? How far can you go on a mountain entry permit?

What is the weather like in December; can we still drive through the park and visit?
Is there public transit from Taroko Gorge to Taichung? If not, is the drive advisable?

Has anyone summited Yushan in winter? Does anyone know how much the snow complicates things?
