This museum is so nicely laid out and informative. And, we had a tour guide, Mr. Venold, who was spectacular. We learned so much about the origins and culture of Haiti.

This museum contains the remains of our national heroes. It is one of the greatest Haitian national heritage. A place that brings us back to our history and our culture. This is the memory of our people.

The building itself builds suspense as you descend beneath ground to visit the sacred remains of Haiti’s forefathers and then learn a bit about pre-Colonial life on the island and then the intriguing and eclectic lineage of Haitian heads of state. There are numerous interesting artifacts including one of the most impactful I’ve seen in any museum worldwide - the anchor from Columbus’ Santa Maria. Unfortunately all the signs are in French and parts of the exhibit can feel dated, but I imagine the Museum is operating on a very limited budget. There is also a gallery of Haitian contemporary art that adds lots of value to the visit and an interesting multimedia space that includes the tennis racket used by 2018 US Open winner Naomi Osaka, the first person of Haitian descent to win a Grand Slam. I would have liked to have visited the restaurant and gardens but they were closed for repairs.

Port-auPrince lacks a bit in traditional tourist attractions, and this museum can't be missed. An extremely well curated collection showcasing Haiti's long and rich history. Christopher Columbus landed here first and seeing the anchor is a treasure (though Haiti's history didn't start here).

The museum provided an outstanding overview of Haiti's history. We were very moved following the stories of the country's past. Our guide spoke fluent English and provided excellent information throughout our visit.

The museum is a great experience for anyone who is interested in history, culture, and art of the African people in the diaspora. My son and I enjoyed learning the history & culture of the original Haitians & the Africans who were forced into slavery on the island. The museum is a testimony of the strength of the people who came before us. We were quite pleased to have been a witness to the dignify portrayal of Indian, & African culture. We enjoyed our visit and plan to return. Thanks to everyone who participated and collaborated to put the museum together. Haiti forever!

If you yo would like to learn about the history of Haiti pre-independence to date. This would be one of the places to visit. A lot of artifacts are preserved here.

I verified on the opening hours and it is Saturday 10:00 AM to 4:00PM and Sunday 12:00 noon to 5:00 PM. Have a great visit again!

I was very impressed by the museum to tell you the truth. Comparing to the quality of life in Haiti , the museum's standards can be compare to any "high class' Amercian or European museum. Visiting the museum will give you an extended picture of the culture, history and mentality of the country.
