Badly managed and now shut, poor cash flow shut this cafe operation down The money earned by the cafe supported the workers whilst the sales of goods supported a life style of its founder which was totally inappropriate.

Fun retail place to spend an hour just shopping - proceeds support women and their children. Go mid-morning to shop then stay for lunch at a roof-top cafe - excellent coffee!

Great products, great mission!

Papillon is a wonderful experience. They have local people that are trained to make crafts to sell. The monies are used to support their families and prevent mothers from having to make a hard decision to give up their children due to a lack of finances. It keeps families together! Beads made from cereal boxes, bags made from water bags and printed t-shirts are just a small sample of the products they offer. Make sure to get a tour of the facility if it is available. You can see the people in the process of making all the items.

Incredible Experience

The story behind this business is so amazing. The founder went to adopt a child and realized the family didn’t want to give the child up but couldn’t afford to provide for them. The founder started this company to give parents jobs and now has 250 employees and a waitlist. They also provide childcare and preschool. So incredibly heartwarming. Definitely take the tour to see all the items being made! Take all of your money because you will want to buy everything!

Great Cafe

I'm in Port au Prince on business and had time between meetings for lunch. The shop and Cafe make a perfect midday stop. Lovely treasures to buy and a breezy patio for lunch. Great coffee!

Worth the visit nice little shop that employs locals at a faire wage. Make sure to ask and visit the manufacturing side of it pretty cool as well

Everything about Papillon makes me smile. I have toured there several times over the last 2 years and what they are doing there is amazing. Getting to see people hand craft everything and knowing that you are helping them provide for their family gives you a good feeling. After returning from my first trip I ordered some items online and much to my surprise they were delivered with a hand written note from the founder. What service!
I've eaten at the café several times and highly recommend it. The smoothies are great and the pizza was even better. My recommendation is to order food THEN go and tour the facility because it takes a while to get your order. Don't worry, they will put your smoothie in the freezer until you return.

Visiting Papillon
In our quest to find some less expensive Wall art aftering shopping the expensive Petion-ville art galleries, we went to the Papillon and to our surprise we found more of art coopertative in a gallery. Beautiful hand crafted jewelry, tee shirts, bags, and art made from glass, bottle tops and other disposable items. Just watching the artists work was a pure joy.
