We took a carriage ride and saw the monument. It was very impressive. It is a must to see in Merida. Some of the other statues are very dirty.

What an amazing monument. We got to drive around it a few times so we could see all the different elements. When I was researching the trip, this was the one thing I really wanted to see in Merida. Really sad that it and many of the other monuments on the main road have been recently vandalized.

Limpio, emblemático, céntrico, y el inicio o fin de el famoso paseo Montejo, no puedes dejar de ir si visitas Mérida.

Este monumento, siempre está rodeado de gente en sus escaleras
Esta vez estaba totalmente iluminado, desconozco si es por las navidades o que siempre está iluminado de colores.
Es una construcción interesante y que merece la pena verlo con tranquilidad

es un monumento impresionante y muy bonito, aunque los locales lo llaman monumento a la bandera por la bandera que esta en el centro pero su nombre real es monumento a la patria

Definitely worth a visit but need to dodge traffic in the traffic circle to access (and no one seems to stop!) Need to have a policeman or something to help make it easier. Definitely worth a visit.

A stunning monument that combines elements of European and Mayan heritage of the city. Very unique though after about 5 minutes of staring and taking pictures there is not much else there.

You will pass this if you get to end at Paseo, the stonework is interesting and around traffic of the city

This is a huge (semi)circular monument standing on a big roundabout on the northern part of Paseo Montejo.
It is beautifully carved all around resembling Mayan and Mexican history.
We visited it on the New Years day and had it all to ourselves with no one around.
It's an excellent photo op and good starting point to walk down Paseo Montejo towards city center.
