The trip was fantastic from start to finish !
I heard about Green Hill Tour from a backpacker I met earlier in my trip. It's a much smaller business than most Ha Giang operators. In fact, since I was the only costumer that day, I ended up getting a private tour !
They organised everything from pick-up to drop-off, seamlessly. I didn't have to think or stress about anything for 4 days, it was so relaxing...
My driver, Bình was brilliant! Super kind, had some great address for food, drove safely and stopped everytime there was a good viewpoint.
Regarding the loop itself, one of the nice things is that there are always three or four options for each viewpoint, so if there's a big group at the first one, you can just do 50m and go to the second stop. This way, it never feels crowded or mass-tourismy.
Note that the weather can really affect your experience. If you have a few days to spare during your trip, I would recommend waiting in Hanoi until the weather forecast for Ha Giang gets good.
Finally, I should point out that since Green Hill is a small agency, their trip has much less of a party vibe than the average Ha Giang loop. That's what I was looking for, so I'm very happy. But someone else could have found the evenings a bit boring.

Perhaps one of the greatest adventures in the past twenty years. I went with my wife with excellent drivers who delivered more than we could have imagined. The sights and beauty of the experience is hard to put in words. We did homestays and ate delicious food all along our stay. It was truly an adventure of a lifetime. I plan on making a return with my son and perhaps my daughter. I tell people about this experience all the time as one of my top five experiences. Vietnam is an incredible country and we always felt safe. The food is delicious and the vibrant colors, smells and atmosphere is very special and beautiful.

Me and my partner have had an absolutely amazing time!
We went in pretty blind and it has been so much better than we could of expected
Everything was easy, lots of activities and sites organised for each day. Boat ride, waterfall, plus more.
Our guide Binh is 10/10 especially if you want the happy water experience! He's gone above and beyond. Absolute great guy, and funny. Knows all the good spots and is great at communicating with us about where we are and the villages.
He's really easy to get along with, he's safe on the road, and looks after everything for you, and the best photographer you could want (not his first rodeo) again he goes above and beyond!
He also knows a lot of Aussie slang and uses it well.
All the homestays have been great! Have everything you need.
Green hill homestay was also lovely and Huong and Do were great hosts. They made movements to and from super easy.
Definitely do the 4 days as you will probably want to extend once you start.
Do yourself a favour and just book it

The Ha Giang loop was truly a once in a lifetime experience!! Every single turn revealed another vista more breathtaking than the last. Our guides, Hiep and Toa, truly went above and beyond to make sure my husband and I were safe, comfortable and having fun. Hiep was so accommodating when I was feeling sick and he also bought us gloves when our hands were cold. They were flexible about the itinerary and let us adjust to our preferences. Home stays were all simple but clean and welcoming. Green Hill helped arrange our buses to/from Hanoi and were very easy to communicate with on WhatsApp. Would absolutely recommend doing the loop with this company!!

Such an amazing 4 days! Met such great people and the riders were so lovely. Really lovely amenities like accommodation, food and more. 10/10 would recommend :)

An amazing experience from start to finish.
Firstly the guides we had were two of the loveliest people we had the pleasure of meeting on our Vietnam trip. Binh & Cheung made us feel safe, comfortable & at ease throughout our 4 day trip. They were both professional & lots of fun. Their experience on the loop made it so enjoyable & the knowledge of the route allowed them to stop at less busy but just as beautiful stops. There was nothing they wouldn’t do to ensure we had a brilliant time.
The route itself is spectacular. Every corner you turn or pass you climb up just gets more & more beautiful by the second. The activities included in the trip were the cherry on the cake. Meeting local trades people making exquisite products & the boat ride were definite highlights. We loved the knowledge our guides had regarding the different ethnic tribes & it was fun to learn all about this area of Vietnam.
The accommodation was varied over the 3 nights away. All clean, welcoming & offered lovely meals in the evening & breakfast just as you expect home stays to be. Be warned though the beds are hard, you may want to brings a sleeping bag/mat for a little more comfort. Our favourite of the 3 was the last evening Lay Ty, beautiful village, the hosts were warm, the food was incredible & the room was definitely the most high end.
I would do this trip again if I was fortunate enough to go back to Vietnam.
Don’t book with anyone else.

These guys are locals, so friendly & funny + they know everyone + every nook and cranny - so you won’t miss anything & you’ll be looked after every step of the way. Binh & Cheoung (sorry if spelled wrong), our marvellous drivers are Batman & Robin, the dream team of North Vietnam. The roads are an amusement park ride, the stunning scenery is postcard material. This trip could not have been better, I could write pages. We feel very lucky to have joined this tour.

The tour was amazing Ha Giang on motorbikes is a must. The drivers were excellent and you get to see so much! We did 4 days 3 night so got to see alot 100% recomend

Our private tour with Green Hill and Tinh was absolutely outstanding. Green Hill made us feel right at home and were gracious hosts. The loop was incredible and we had a blast driving and spending time with our guide Tinh. I truly can’t recommend this trip enough and would do it again in a heartbeat.

Our 4 day/ 3 night private tour was by far the best experience we’ve had.
The people running the show were so accomodating and catered to our every needs.
The tour is very flexible in terms of stopping and taking photos etc.
Our guide Tung spoke very good English which made communicating and the occasional banter along the way a breeze.
I would 100% do this tour again.
