We visited the old parliament building, the House of Commons (temporary), and the senate. Our guides, in order, were Matthew, Haley, and Sasha. All three were wonderful. We’re from the U.S., so we don’t totally understand the parliamentary system of government. Our guides changed that! They were so knowledgeable and also patient with everyone who had questions. I recommend these tours to all Ottawa visitors! Another nice part of the visit to Parliament Hill is the 10:00 military band performance. The band wear the bright red uniforms that are very similar to British uniforms. It is a wonderful opportunity to hear great music!

Come da titolo. Bella esperienza in centro città. Ottawa è davvero una città a misura d’uomo. Questa zona è davvero interessante e scenografica.
Vari i monumenti esterni da vedere , sopratutto del periodo bellico.
Molto bello anche i vari panorami verso il fiume.
Consiglio un passaggio.

We visited this place on July 6. In the House of Commons, the first tour available was in French. Kennedy our guide was English speaking and spoke Québec French. We are from Belgium so French should not be a problem. After the first stop, I asked him to speak more slowly. He kept rattling off his imposed text while he couldn't stay still for a second.
In the Senate, the first tour available was in English. Apparently the order of the tour was changed recently. Sylvia the guide quoted it several times. She was not very knowledgeable. You could hear her telling us an imposed text. Any question she couldn't answer had to be confirmed by the guide helping people use the elevator.
I'm sorry, but I cannot recommend these tours.

Très belle architecture avec l'ensemble des trois bâtiments de dimensions hors norme. Malheureusement, pour visiter l'intérieur, le nombre de place est limité et il faut donc penser à réserver au moins la veille.
Dommage, si l'intérieur est aussi impressionnant que l'extérieur....

Would have been great, but because of all the construction made it difficult, and in the rain even worse, but you could tell the site was very beautiful lotta architecturally significant places and beautifully designed buildings and stonework, but the construction part made it a downgrade

I booked in advance to take all three tours (West Block, East Block, Senate) in one morning. The tours were excellent and informative, and I would highly recommend.
My one small complaint is that the website strongly advised to leave a certain amount of time between each tour, and that ended up being unnecessary, so we were stuck waiting for almost an hour between each tour, when we easily could have visited the three sites with much less time in between. It is also worth noting that the tours are shorter than the website indicated. West Block was supposed to be 40 minutes, but was over in 30, and East Block was supposed to be 50 minutes, but was also done in 30 minutes. Security to enter is quite stringent. They searched our bags by hand, which included going through wallets. I'd recommend bringing as little as possible with you.

We didn't do the guided tours of the buildings. We watched the light show, which was spectacular, taking the audience through Canada's history and not shying away from the more negative aspects.
We went back the following morning to view the changing of the guard - as we were aware - but essentially it was a military band playing tunes, narrated so you knew what was playing and who wrote it. The Star Wars theme was the highlight for me.
How the personnel didn't melt in the heat in their military outfits amazes me. It was around 10am in the morning and it was rather hot.

We did the guided tour of the house of commons west. We booked the morning of and didn't have much choice in times. (We were here long weekend in August) Book in advance to get your best options.
Everyone here is super friendly. Arrive early to clear security.
Olivia was a great and informative tour guide. She even did great speaking over the yelling child 🙄
Note: If you have a 3 year old who is not a history savant, you may want to not go on a guided tour. And if you do, you may not want to pump him up with chocolate and candy along the tour. Your child will be bored... be kind to everyone and skip guided tours about politics lol

Over the years, I have toured all the Parliament buildings, and wanted to tour the temporary Senate building for a while. Located in the old railway station building across the street from the Chateau Laurier, they have done a remarkable restoration job. I loved the old Senate chamber in Centre Block (preferring it over the House of Commons), but they did a good job here while the renovations happen in Centre Block. If you enjoyed touring the other buildings, put this on your list.
FYI - you have to go through airport-style security to enter the building. And show up early for your online pre-booked tour to go though said security screening.

Has anyone ever successfully called their tours reservation office and had someone picked up the phone? I have trouble modifying my booking and tried to call a dozen times. Every time it goes straight to telling me to leave a message.

I have tickets booked to tour the new Senate (old train station). Is there a restaurant inside which the public can access food?

It is like a 20 - 30 minutes tour inside . You go through security and wait for your turn in the lobby . In the lobby area , I DID NOT see any food area / vending machine for food . And since it is a short tour , I do not see why anyone would need to eat there ...
It is close to mall , restaurants if you google it , map it out , so then after your tour you can walk to these places... it is walking distance .
go to website ( visit period parl period ca) to reserve your time and they have some info there as well

no there is no fees to see the parliament hill. You can even do the tour of house of commons, senate and east block free of charge. You need to book your tours online

From above answers I understand that there are three tours and each will last around 45 min. So i should book all the tours an hour apart atleast

Parliment hill building is under renovation for next 10 years, so no entry there. West block and east block buildings need tickets to enter. Tickets are free.

No. They literally do not have doors that open in Center Block right now. No one can get in there. The real doors are now located in the West block building.

If you only had time to do one tour which would be the best one? Senate, House of Commons or East Block?

As the Center block is closed to the public for construction, the temporary home of the House of Commons is now in the East Block. It is VERY cool to see with what used to be an outdoor courtyard being roofed in and is now the Commons, it’s SO interesting to see the conversion and what they did inside. I’d recommend the Commons tour over the Senate one hands down. Enjoy!
