If you want a short review then here it is: Stay away from this place and if you have nothing else planned in Goa for the day then just chill at your hotel. That'll be more worth your time.
Long(er) review: The entry fee is a lot. Especially considering the quality of food that they serve. Instead of 500, they should charge around 100 per person. That would do the food justice.
They food was cold, bland & look quite bad. The 'buffet' was basically some food left in earthen pots in a hall. The taste was atrocious and nothing looked appetizing at all. You would get better food on the street, in any market in North or South Goa.
The tour of the plantation is quite short, they tell you nothing that you won't already know, and the guide just kept on giving out info in a robotic fashion. I don't know about people from other states but for someone like me who's from a coastal city like Mumbai, it was nothing new. We've the same plants and trees here and in other parts of the Konkan belt and the info was nothing new.
Moral of the story, it's nothing special. Avoid if you can.

Tropical Spice Plantation
Walking guided tour)
Location: South Goa
Entry fee: 500/- per person including buffet lunch
The plantation tour covering different spice plants and processes is commendable. You can also buy various spices that they sell from their farm.
The herbal tea they offer is clean and made from herbs that they grow on the plantation. The main attraction is the process of making feni.
The food options for vegetarian & non vegitarian and the food is prepared in mud pots and served on plates made out of dried leaves which adds to its flavours.

Its a perfect time pass activity to enjoy with nature. The plantation is very well maintained. We reached a little after noon. The ticket price is 500 per person which includes a buffet lunch and welcome drink. The lunch options were good. They have a store with beer, soft drinks and ice creams which you can buy separately and is very nominally priced. The plantation tour covering different spice plants and process is commendable. Divya did a great job for our batch (the tours are organized in batches). You finish with doing Feni testing. You can also buy various spices that they sell from their farm. We enjoyed it thoroughly as you don't feel the blazing sun under the shades of the plantation.

The Spice Plantation is an hour's drive from Goa Candolim. The location in the middle of a small forest is very beautiful. My visit was on a Saturday. The result: crowds, long queues! A spice plantation is also much quieter! The plantaion seems to be something like an amusement park for the local population. The entry fee of just 500 Indian rupees includes a buffet-style meal. The food is remarkably good, fresh and tasty. It will take time to refill. After the buffet there is a guided tour through the spice forest. The guides are very friendly, well informed and provide good knowledge about the plants and their uses. However, it may happen that you have to wait longer until a larger group comes together for the tour. Having seen many such plantations, I would classify the number of spices and plants on display as mediocre. You can only see the fruits and pods or roots such as ginger and turmeric as they occur in nature, i.e. sometimes very far away or, in the case of roots, not at all. Specimens such as cardamom pods, ginger root or turmeric root, among others, would be desirable here.

It's just a waste of time. They start as if they have huge area with spice plantation to show you, but the guided tour will end just in 20 minutes or so. They will show one plant/climber of a few spices and rest is left to your imagination. They showed us only one lemon grass plant. Then just one cardamom plant, one cinnamon plant an so on. Only one plant for which they multiple instances is betel nut. It will not give you the feeling of roaming around a plantation area.
They had a so called buffet spread for lunch which is also not worth mentioning. Overall, unless you want to waste your time, you shouldn't be here.

Tropical spice plantation was a great insite to all the spices used as food and medicine in the goan culture. We learned alot as our tour guide was amazing and spoke very good English.
We enjoyed the buffet of home made dishes they provided at the end of our tour and ended the trip purchasing alot of spices and gifts at there on site gift shop. Worth a visit in Goa 10/10

The place is amazing. Certainly worth more than Rs. 500 they charge that includes guided tour and lunch. Our English guide Aditi was very knowledgeable and always had smile on her face. Overall great experience. Would certainly recommend if you have couple of hours to spare. Also close to (driving) couple of temples if you wish to visit.

Interesting tour about how herbs are grown. They also give you tips to recognize real herbs at markets.
Lunch, on the other hand, is not recommended. I was sick in the hotel room for 2 days with food poisoning.
For 500 rs I still think it's worth taking the tour, but stay away from the food.

If you arrive, say at 10am, or maybe 3pm, does anyone know whether you still get lunch? It seems it is very busy in the middle of the day...Thanks.

Are there certain times you have to visit to get a tour or can you come at any time?
Đã viết vào 27 tháng 12, 2018
It opens around 9 am and then they try to take people in small groups for tours, the lunch buffet is included in the 40 min tour ,so the best time would be near lunch hour .
Hope that helps you !
Enjoy your trip !

Hi, philnsue. What would you like to know about this attraction?
The food that you serve. Is it gluten free please? I can't eat anything that contains wheat, wheat flour, or barley in any form. Rice and corn are fine, as are all meats, fish, and all fruits and vegetables and spices. I have a thing called 'coeliac disease' which means my body reacts to the gluten found in wheat and barley. I know most Indian curries shouldn't contain wheat flour if they are made properly. Many thanks!
