Easy in and out of the highway to stretch the legs and take in the ocean views. Didn’t do anything else so can’t comment on trails

With limited visit time, The Alders resort beach was more interesting and accessible from our cottage's front door.

An easy, well signposted trail goes to this beach. This area is well maintained by B.C. Parks with trail maps and good interpretative signage. Very clean. Best visited in the morning before it gets too busy at weekends.

We stayed here (in a tent) with 5 children, ages 14, 9, 7, and 4. Our site was huge and private. There are washrooms throughout the park, so no matter which site you are at, there are washrooms and water taps nearby. There is a great playground for children. Hot showers were promised, but the showers were cold every time we used them and the bathrooms were quite dirty, which is why I’ve given it a 4 instead of a 5 rating. But overall, it was a great place to stay with everything we needed. Close to lots of outdoor attractions such as Saratoga Beach, Miracle Beach, Nymph Falls, Brown’s River Falls, and Elk Falls.

Let’s start with the positives... the sites are large but private and beautifully surrounded by trees. The late night staff do enforce quiet hours which was good to keep all guests staying here respectful of their neighbors. Sadly that is where the positives end... We stayed here during Covid and were advised that extra cleaning of the washrooms would take place as this is a high touch zone. The washrooms were filthy, disgusting actually. We complained many times during our stay to the front entrance staff, if this is what extra clean looks like I can not imagine what these washrooms would look like without a pandemic. Time sheets would say they were cleaned at 1pm that day but it was still only 10am. No toilet paper many times, never had hot water once in the woman’s showers. During covid the campsite rules also advised that each site had a max guest stay of 8 guests... this was to keep guest count lower during this time. Many sites around us had 12-14 guests sleeping in these sites each night.
We have camped at many provincial camp grounds over the years and never have seen anything this filthy. I would recommend booking another campground and avoiding this place completely. We will never return.

Yes, you can. I believe they may charge you a fee of $12 per night though.

Are there a lot of mosquitos at the campground at the moment? We heard they are bad in Comox, wondering about the campground.

When we were there no mosquitoes, however now with the bit of rain and it’s probably got them, it is a beautiful campground though.

Does anyone know why there is so much availability at Miracle Beach over Labour Day? Most campgrounds are full at that time, so I'm wondering if we're missing something. Construction? Haunted campsites? Other...? Thanks.

BC Parks Reservation has maps of all of the campgrounds which show the size of the sites and their locations in proximity to park amenities. There are even photos of the sites and information on how level the site is etc. Have fun, it is a lovely campground!

Just log onto the internet and google Miracle Beach to get an overview of information and photos of this wonderful area. There is also a phone number that you can contact to ensure you will have the information that you are looking for. Enjoy.

Are any sites power
BCtraveller2
Victoria, Canada20 đóng góp
No, there are no power sites at Miracle Beach Provincial Park. If you want power, there is a really nice private campground a few minutes north of there called Pacific Playgrounds International. They have some beautiful sites right on the water but the sites are much closer together than at Miracle Beach.
Kitty Coleman Provincial Park is south of there. They are on the waterfront and have power and a boat launch. They do not take reservations and can be very busy in the summer.

Can you bring dogs here?
Roberta L
Courtenay, Canada14 đóng góp
Yes you can. They must not be allowed to roam free anywhere in the Provincial Park (on a leash) and they are not allowed on the main beach but there is a dog beach a short distance at the end of the regular public beach.

I am thinking of camping in a tent with my 3 children. We have previously gone to Rathtrevor and needed help getting our tent pegs in due to the extremely hard ground. Is Miracle Beach the same rock ground and if so, what sort of tent pegs and device to hit them in with do you recommend? My father is not going to be able to help us set up this year so I need to ensure that we can do it by ourselves. Thank you for any advice you can give!

Rathtrever is closer to the beach and so drier and harder. The campsites at Miracle Beach are in the woods with softer ground. Bring a hammer and metal spikes are better than plastic. Put them in on an angle so they don't pull out.

We are coming over from the mainland. What ferry route is best to take to get to miracle beach?
Footsac
Comox, Canada373 đóng góp
You have two options...the most direct route would be the Horseshoe bay to Departure bay (Nanaimo) Ferry...or you could travel up the sunshine coast to Powell River and take the Little River ferry over to Vancouver island.....long trip, but nice....Nanaimo ferry is your best bet.....Miracle Beach is about 90 minutes north of the ferry terminal on the inland island highway....good luck.

Are there wasps at the park? And if so, when does the wasps season usually start?
Footsac
Comox, Canada373 đóng góp
there are wasps in any environment....however I have never been bothered by wasps here....unless it is near the picnic area and then there might be a more frequent occurrence.
in the camping area though, I have not seen any great number of wasps.
