Absolutely beautiful in early May. The fabulous azaleas, rhododendrons plus Acers were breathtaking. Gorgeous walks with scenic surroundings and so many vibrant colours.

I can’t recommend this place enough. The gardens are just beautiful. We try to visit whenever it is open at various times of the year. They have a lovely little tea room. They provide you with a map and a guide to the trees and plants. Wonderful views in every direction.

Visited these dog friendly gardens on a beautiful Sunday afternoon in late April. Most of the azaleas and rhododendrons were in flower and the colours were just stunning. A breathtaking vista around every corner. An added bonus was the interesting sculpture trail. Not too busy, even on a Sunday and even interesting to two 9 year old boys. Lovely tea garden with homemade cakes. Really enjoyed it and would love to visit again.

Doesn't quite compare to somewhere like Sheffield Park for size or autumn colours but still worth a visit. Ramsters combine formal gardens with sculptures and it works well. The highlight for us was the acer walk and 'Oranges and Lemons'.

Visited these lovely unspoilt gardens with 14 of my (not-so-young) Horticultural Society one morning in mid October 2021. We so enjoyed the peace and tranquility of the beautiful woodlands, seeing the reflections of the trees in the pools and discovering the arty pieces of woodcraft and sculptures as we wended our way along the informal pathways. Would love to return when the garden is in fully dressed in its autumn colours, or in the Springtime to see the colourful rhododendrons when I’m sure I would award the full 5 stars.
For my group, choosing our lunches on arrival to return to at the end of our visit worked like a dream and we were able to share our experiences of the gardens with each other, sitting at the picnic tables in the sunshine. The sandwiches were made with lovely crusty bread and were absolutely delicious.
All round it was a very enjoyable morning visit for my group.

We had a lovely family visit to these gardens. We enjoyed refreshments outside on arrival and then enjoyed a walk round the lake and gardens. There was much more to see than we had time for. We loved every minute and can’t believe, having lived in Surrey for 18 years, we have only just discovered this place. The colours in the Spring look wonderful, so we will definitely be back and are already looking forward to coming again! We were blessed by hearing the bagpipes wafting across the trees, being played at a wedding there.

What an amazing garden! This hidden gem needs better self promotion as it's hard to know it's there.
We came here one day on the off chance as it's one of the few places you don't have to book in advance. We were absolutely blown away by its beauty. The tickets are exceptional value for money compared to other gardens in the area, and we can't wait to come back.
We came with a buggy and do not all routes were accessible, but we felt we saw enough on the accessible routes to make the visit worth while. You do need to be willing to push up hill in parts though! We will definitely be back with the little one in a carrier to see the rest.
We didn't use any of the facilities so unsure of their quality, but a good number seemed to be enjoying the small cafe offer.
We came on a sunny weekday and it was fairly busy at the entrance/car park etc but lots of space inside so never felt cramped or worried. We recommended it to a friend who went on a weekend and found it quite quiet.

The food is great. Parking is easy and the facilities modest but clean. The gardens are well laid out and sufficient easy access paths as well as more challenging ones. The rhododendrons were spectacular but do check before you go to see what’s in bloom. It’s well worth a few hours to explore.
A word of warning- the map they give you isn’t brilliant but it makes the exploration great fun. There are plenty of benches to sit on around the gardens and some picturesque lakes.

How steep are the walks?

My husband uses a walking stick and none of the walks we did were too steep. There are plenty of alternatives with easier slopes. We only had to turn back once to join another pathway and avoid the steepest incline. Hope this helps.

I love the photograph called 'statues' (May 2016) taken by Lillian K. I am the artist Christine Charlesworth who made the statues (called 'Oranges and Lemons') and love the photograph. I would like to be contacted so that I can use the photograph on my website. I am a level 6 contributer.

Hi, can you tell me what disabled access is like please? My father is wheelchair bound
Thanks
Rosie G

Hello, the teahouse is all on one level and we have a disabled toilet, the garden has no steps, a few steeper hills which can be avoided so some of the paths are accessible. The main path is sand stone which runs to the far side of the garden it is not completely smooth as does tend to have stones on the surface and I know can sometimes be quite hard work pushing, the other paths are grass. I have had some people say it was fine to take a wheel chair and some who have struggled, I presume it may have something to do with the strength of the person at the helm and who they are taking around - but I would be very happy if you wanted to come and have a look yourself with no charge when we are open Ramster Garden & Teahouse open 27th March - 14th June. 10am - 5pm to see if you think its suitable for him.
