Great view of American islands and in particular, of majestic Mt Baker. It's a lovely walk through tall grassy terrain with the Heritage Centre (and light station) atop the edge but that was closed when we visited in July (likely due to Covid). You can walk along the sandstone beach shore at the bottom at low tide. Apparently orcas can be spotted here in the summer but we were told they came earlier this year, in June. Come back in the evening for the best sunset ever! There is a tiny parking lot at the end of Tumbo Channel Rd but you can park on the road. The trails are flat and easy for walking but do run alongside a cliff for part of it so be aware.

The lightstation and fog horn building are, of course, in a great location. Whale sitings are frequent, even though they eluded our visit. The fog horn building museum and information station is great if they are open. Or you can just sit and watch the ocean currents.

Didn't see any whales but mesmerizing watching the tidal waves and the oyster catchers from the shore rock. Sea lions and eagles sunning on a small island close to shore. Museum open!

We enjoyed watching the deer, touring the lighthouse, walking along the rocky shore and seeing the lighthouse museum.

You'll have a whale of a time at East Point. This is the best spot to see Orcas. Magnificent killer whales regularly travel around Saturna Island and pass so close they're said to be rubbing against the rocks. Being wild, they may elude you. So, then visit the Foghorn building where volunteers will show you orca history and tell stories of winter storms and brave lighthouse keepers.
The view is magnificent and everywhere! All around is wild water rushing past boiling reef amid rolling wildflower meadows.
All this in a Canadian Federal Park. Free for the loving.

I visited the light station at the end of the day after exploring the coastal path at the point. The area is rich in wildlife and while I didnt see any whales I did get some very good views of sea lions looking through the light station window. A lot of interesting material is squeezed into a limited space, my enjoyment of which was greatly enhanced by the well-informed curator who showed me round. East Point and the light station are highly recommended for anyone visiting the island

I took a stunningly beautiful sunset walk on eastpoint. I will definitely be a frequent visitor here whenever I’m on Saturna.

One of the most beautiful spots in the gulf islands. 180 degree views out towards the USA. Great spot to come for a short hike and spot transient orcas.

If you ever come to the isolated Saturna island (may it be for the Canada Day BBQ), this park is a must go. Down the first hill the scent of the sea will hit you, and the views are spectacular. If you have the time, do all the trails, as they are all easy and excellent.

The view from East Point on a clear day, is one of the best of the American San Juan Islands, Mt Baker and the Twin Sisters of the Northern Cascade Range. Orcas Island is the Largest, then Patos ( with it’s lighthouse) Sucia, Matia, in the far distance Lummi and Clark and Barnes Islands. To the west of Orcas is Waldron and Skipjack Islands and far to the west is Stewart Island. The city of Bellingham lies just over the top of Sucia, with Mt Baker looming above. The Orcas visit East Point in the Summer months, not as often as in the years when the King Salmon lived at East Point year round.
