We had a great time here today. The glass is beautiful and there was lots of information about how stained glass is made. A lot of effort has clearly been made to get children interested and spark their imaginations

I adored this museum. There was a lovely film at the start which showed lots of information about the craftsmanship of stained glass. The pieces on display ranged form very traditional to much more modern which I really enjoyed. I would say this is unmissable if you are going to Ely.

I absolutely loved this museum. There is plenty of information about the process of making stained glass windows (plus some cool models of workshops where these windows are made!) as well as the stories told by the windows. There is a huge amount of secular artwork in addition to windows from religious buildings, as over time people increasingly recognised the medium as an artform in addition to a religious practice. I spent about an hour here as part of a visit to the cathedral. I would strongly recommend this place - one of the coolest galleries I've seen!

We visited Ely as part of our Cambridge break to celebrate oue wedding anniversary.We booked our visit in advance using our art passes(free entry).
Its a wonderful place,all the displays are amazing,from religious pieces,to modern day,its brilliantly curated,a must when you come to Ely!

We love bright colours so this little museum didn’t disappoint. Really interesting to see the changes in style through the century’s, read the explanations of the pieces and enjoy the craftsmanship. So glad we visited.

This place is gorgeous and beautifully curated. Includes both ancient and contemporary works of art -I was pleasantly surprised to see a Kehinde Wiley piece as well as Edward Burne Jones! An unexpected addition were the miniature models showcasing how the windows are made and the workshop process, I found this fascinating and the models are incredibly realistic. This feature is really great for kids, mine loved it.

A wonderful history of stained glass displayed in a dog friendly venue. Well worth the additional entrance fee.

This is a lovely, if small, museum of stained glass within Ely Cathedral, open for a small extra entrance fee. The glass is displayed at eye level and beautifully back-lit so you can really see every detail. Most is in chronological order showing how stained glass developed from the Medieval period right up to the current day, and we easily spent an hour here. There are also wonderful views of the cathedral's painted ceiling, and the gift shop is an added bonus.

We did wonder if it would be worth the extra admission fee but it definitely was. Access is via a stone spiral staircase and a traffic light system is in place to ensure you don’t cross others coming down the stairs. We spent well over an hour here. The panels are well set out starting with the 12th century through to modern day. A couple of short films are also available to watch the process of stained glass making.
You get some great views of the cathedral as an added bonus.
There’s a beautifully designed shop with some lovely pieces of hand crafted glass and other glass associated souvenirs most of which were not on sale in the main cathedral shop in the nave.

A lovely little museum with a lot to see. Beautiful examples of Stained Glass from it's beginning right through to the present day. I enjoyed it very much, but if you aren't into art, it might not be your thing.
