We happened to end up at the New College. We walked under the sight bridge and so we came to a gate that gave access to the New College
I also wanted to visit this one because there are also recordings of Harry Potter movies. You do pay admission and are not allowed to go everywhere. The chapel has a beautiful impressive statue wall. In the monastery corridors there is exhibition of special constructions. It wasn't crowded

Had to keep in mind that New is quite relative, it being founded in 1379 thus making it actually one of the oldest colleges.
It’s a magnificent institution, resulting in a thoroughly enjoyable visit that began in the glorious Chapel. Here, statuary and stained glass are captivating, all under a grand ceiling in wood.
Fortunately it was post 2pm so the great Hall was open following lunchtime dining by students and staff. A venerable part of the College it is bedecked with portraits such as former Wardens.
It was interesting to see some of the other rooms in use, including the Red one that is regarded as one of the most ornate of the type.
Lastly it was to the Cloisters. Exceptional in atmosphere they are a terrific aspect. An intriguing sculpture gallery has effectively been incorporated with both modern and olden examples. Grace and All Together are new works by Johannes von Stumm and are striking.
Included in the olden are figurative sculptures of Saints John the Baptist and Thomas Becket.

I downloaded from their website the map with things to see, in my language. You can see the dining room (but beware that it closes from about 12 to 14:30, it depends), the gardens, the chapel, the cloister. For Harry Potter lovers: 1) In the courtyard of the cloister, Harry makes his way through a crowd of his companions while ridiculing him with badges Potter sucks, after he has been selected to take part in the Three Wizards Tournament. 2) In "The Goblet of Fire" the cloisters are the corridors to class at Hogwarts. Then there is the huge oak tree in front of which: 1) Evil Eye Moody turns Malfoy into a ferret after he tries to cast a forbidden curse on Harry, attacking behind his back; 2) Harry informs Cedric of the dragons that will fight in the first round of the Wizard Tournament; 3) the quarrel between Draco Malfoy and Ron was filmed here, in the film “Harry Potter, The Half-Blood Prince”, when the latter casts a spell with a broken wand and finds himself spitting snails.
It costs £8.

We were on a self guided tour of Harry Potter locations in Oxford so New College was a must to see the try from Goblet of Fire! We bought tickets on the door and we had plenty of time to explore and get photos. A must see for any Harry Potter fans.

Entrance through the well-hidden chapel.
Pay attention to your head, as access through the door is rather low.
Enthusiastic and warm welcome.
Tickets can be purchased on site (£8/person) and you will receive a paper guide (in English, of course).
Please note: New College remains a functioning university in Oxford. There will therefore be places where you will not have access (marked "Private").
Served as a filming location for Harry Potter, notably HP 4.
So, expect to wait in certain strategic places because of the fans +/- influencers, who think they own the place by staying there for a long time, without any inconvenience...
Magnificent church, beautiful stained glass windows (too bad, photos prohibited), enormous organ, beautiful cloisters & gardens (full of different varieties of flowers and types of trees).
Too bad there isn't a shop where you could buy photos of the church's stained glass windows, the famous oak tree that became "SP Harry Potter" with no one around, etc.

A M A Z I N G experience like really. I am a huge fan of Harry Potter and the Malfoy tree spot was so beautiful, even prettier than in the movies! But there is so much more to see than just that iconic spot! The architecture is wonderful and I walked through the garden wonderstruck. If you’re a fan of HP, just run to it like for real, bc it closes at 5pm.

We visited this college first, the dining room and chapel are smaller than those of Christ Church, but have at least as much charm. The passageways around the courtyard are nice and quiet.

Being a Harry Potter fan, New College was on my list of places to see. I hasn’t realised actually, so was excited when I realised I could see the oak tree and the cloisters pre tri wizard cup.
I was not disappointed at all, as the sun came out and New College looked really beautiful.
The Custodian who greeted us at the door, and from whom we bought our tickets, was informative, witty, interesting and took the time to tell us key facts that would enhance our visit.
It was a shame that the grass was closed off which meant we could not get to the tree.
The hall was impressive as was the chapel. We were leaving the College when we asked about the chapel. That was when the Custodian/guide, told us to go back and handed us a plan of the Order of Heaven; even giving us a teaser of why does the Moses statue have horns? Definitely learnt something today! Fantastic visit.

Hi, can I visit the grounds of the college? I know the college is closed for the public, but does this include the grounds as well?? I really want to see the Harry Potter 4 filming location there...
