This is a lovely spot for a day out. Lots of birds to see, lovely walk around the site that's easy with a pushchair. The view from the cafe over the pond is great.

I went on Sunday with daughter and 8 year old grandson. I hadn't been for some time and was amazed at how much more there was to see and do. THe young lady giving us our tickets was so helpful explaining the times of events and wrote them down. So grandson enjoyed the play area, then we enjoyed making frogs out of clay. messy and fun. Pond dipping, then on a wonderful boat trip throught the wetlands. No, we didn't see much from the boat, but it was lovely and relaxing. A picnic, then a wander around the huge area, going in the hides and seeing so many birds. It was a full day out and we seemed to walk miles! Pelican Cove and the Coastal Creek Aviary were highlights.

I do like this place even though at certain times of the year birdlife seems few and far between. The Arctic cage is great especially at feeding time. Some areas were out of bounds and so if you want a full experience it may be worth checking first. Costs for a family not part of the membership scheme may seem a little steep but think of it as saving a little bit of the world.

Spotting wildlife from the hides on the wild side of our site does vary depending on the weather, time of day and luck. Unfortunately our Reedbed hides is closed for major repairs at the moment and we are assessing what work we can do on it.
The birds in the exhibits from our wetland wildfowl collection are always on show, they do get moved around sometimes if we are doing work in exhibits.
We like your view on ticket pricing - we are working to save wetlands.

What a location: off-the-beat-and-track but my, is it worth it. Lovely animals, lovely staff and lovely scenery. You must visit!

We were super thrilled that we got a chance to come to the Wetland Centre. Firstly, a very nice greeting when we entered the premises as the lady at the front desk was very cheerful and helpful. The grounds were massive and there was a lot to cover but all enjoyable and interactive for all ages plus a must for animal lovers. Some of the animals within this Centre were rare which made this occasion even more special.

A lovely, peaceful place to go to see wildlife and nature. The boat trip was made especially interesting due to Joel, the young man who took us around. He was so knowledgeable and answered all the questions asked of him. I was a bit disappointed to see the bird feeders had been taken down in the Woodland Glade hide but understand that it's Summer and the birds don't need seed from a feeder so much at this time of year. Was sad to only see 2 Pelicans left out of the 5 that were there previously. But all in all, a wonderful trip that I would recommend to anyone.

The place is too enchanting and a must for all those who visit the town of Arundale . The place is too beautiful to describe in words . The good pair of shoes and a desire to walk will take you to the prettiest of the areas here . A walkers paradise indeed .

great for a pensioner day out but who ever runs the canteen is out of touch with what people eat and drink. I had to buy some kind of kola disgusting my wife an elderflower flavoured lemonade the same. Whats wrong with normal cola or other regular popular drinks. No wonder the canteen looks run down. There were signs saying voles well in the past 30 times we have never seen a vole or king fisher or grass snake, still its a nice walk. We saw more birds in the second duck/bird pond.

Thanks for the 5 stars despite your dissatisfaction with the cafe food.
Water voles have spread out further into the reedbeds and are more difficult to see, but visitors regularly see grass snakes swimming while on the boat safari and the nesting kingfisher pair on Arun Riverlife with their juvenile youngsters have been spotted regularly from April - Sept. Sometime its just a bit of being in the right place at the right time.

Early Saturday morning 10.30, half hour after opening. Not at all busy. Lovely weather even with a thunderstorm for half an hour. The hides are excellent and wildlife is abundant. The Sand Martin hide is a particular fave of mine. If you`re into birds and insects this is the place to come. Will return one day, deffo.

The Wetlands Discovery Boat Safari is a first come, first served. queueing system. The first trip leaves at 11 am, with trips lasting 15-20 minutes. During busy times like Easter there are three boats operating taking 10 people each trip with only two boats operating between 1-2pm. The last boat of the day leaves at 4.30pm.

We are planning to visit the Center in a couple of weeks and we will be travelling by train from London.
With a 12 year old in tow, I don't think he will be too keen to walk the distance from the station to the center. How much would a taxi ride cost and if it's possible to call for one from the center to take us back to the train station?

Just to clarify: can people rent kayaks at the Arundel Centre, or just at the Gloucester one?

You cannot rent kayaks at Arundel Wetland Centre. We do have a free boat ride in electric boats piloted by a wildlife guide.
