This was me and my brothers first visit to Chalk Springs and we can both honestly say we had a fabulous day. We arrived at 8.00am and we're given a very nice, friendly and sincere welcome by the staff there. After getting our rods set for a hopeful days fishing neither of us were disappointed and the sibling rivalry (even at our age, both in our mid to late 60's) produced a very satisfactory 2-2 draw. The sun shone brightly, the waters were clear(ish) after the heavy rain of the previous 2 days and to be able to actually see the fish following and taking the fly is a delight. Although, if they see you first they dart away. Great fun. Thanks Chalk Springs. We will be back for a brotherly rematch soon.

My wife and I have just spent the day at the fishery as part of an event with the Lashings Charity. We were both novices and had asked for help and instruction, which they were more than pleased to provide.
Dan spent a lot of time with us showing us the basic skills to cast and then how to spot the fish and cast to entice them onto the fly. I didn't catch anything but my wife did so Rainbow trout for dinner.
Irrespective of success or not the spot is lovely and it was a very relaxing day. I would very much recommend it for beginners or experienced fishers alike.

Fantastic day at Chalk Springs. Thoroughly enjoyable. Beautiful setting and so relaxing. We caught two fish and had a pleasant day out with friends. We took lunch down with us and enjoyed a lazy lunch in the cabin and ended up staying till closing. I would highly recommend this for groups or corporate events. Fantastic facility.

First trip back since pre-lockdown and the work from the new owners is clear to see.
Lots of areas have been cleared making casting easier, but it has been done sympathetically enough to keep lots of spots for stalking.
Plenty of stocked fish visible and some nice larger specimens but you do need to work to spot and target them which is how it should be!
Only rated a 4 as there was a weed problem on one of the lakes (though stalking on that lake still produced a 4lb rainbow.)
If your previous experience was disappointing pre-lockdown I would recommend you give it another go.

Superb mornings fishing. Much improved from last summer. Great quality fish. The best its ever been.

Had a great day fishing caught two very healthy looking fish very new to the sport had 2 hours tuition with Steve very useful found every body on site very friendly and helpful and very busy de weeding and and sorting out the banks have become a member so will be back

Only scores 4 because of lockdown. Fish size and quality are much improved, althou stocking levels seem lower. Not to worry because the water is crystal clear and there are plenty of larger fish to test ones skills or luck. They are well on their way to becoming( perhaps already there) the premier fishery again.

This fishery has become heavily infested with weed although the water is clear however with so much weed it is difficult to see fish except in a very few localised areas. On the day of our visit the brook flowing through was heavily choked with foul smelling weed and debris that had just been raked out and left on the bank side.
Although I caught my 4 fish in a reasonable timescale other anglers, many very experienced, struggled to find fish . Covid restrictions are in place here however there is a great deal of weed clearing And maintenance that needs urgent attention. I believe it is still a Troutmaster water although I never caught anything that would be worthy of an entry.

Within 30 mins of arriving I wish we hadn't bothered turning up . There was far too much weed , which limited where you could cast , and you needed to clear your fly of weed every cast .
I did catch my 4 fish , but they were not even 2lbs like most of the fish you could see swimming around . My friend struggled to catch his 4 and ended up with one fish .
The place has certainly gone down hill since I was there many years ago .
We travelled all the way from Gillingham Kent , and it wasn't worth all the effort we put in to it .
On the whole a VERY DISAPPOINTING DAY , Would I go back ???? NO.

Myself and a mate traveled all the way from Folkestone on the 30/07/20 for a days fly fishing at Chalk Springs Trout Fishery...Well what can i say but had a excellent days fishing. 4 fish ticket bagged up by both of us in no time with good healthy trout. Would i go back ? 100%.
