Well we were not impressed we spent over £1500 on the commanding officers mess and thought it was dreadful, bank parking was not offered in the price and the food did not even come up to a 1 star hotel quality , my husband is dairy free and the food they supplied for him was lacking taste and imagination no effort made whatsoever to provide anything special, on top of that the toilets were constantly blocking and flooded and have an offensive aroma.
The site was ridiculously crowded far too many people, and we both caught Covid probably due to poor hygiene in the staff serving the food.
Goodwood are out to fleece you for as much as they can without providing any decent facilities.
Would we go again you must be joking NO.

Without a doubt, the Revival race meeting is one of the best, if not the best in the world, showcasing cars and bikes from pre 1966. There is so much that is fantastic, especially for those who appreciate the on-track action, however, that doesn't mean it is above criticism.
I've been several times over the years and it has grown substantially, especially with the off track stands and food stalls. There is no way in the world that 1 day is enough to see everything on offer. Having said that and travelling 12,000 miles from the far side of the world, in 2024, I could only manage 1 day and that one day was the rather damp Friday.
The outer gates 'across the road' open at 7:30am and there are food stands open, which is a great start if you had to skip breakfast. There was a time not so long ago that you could cross the road and into circuit as soon as the gates opened, which was ideal for seeing the cars up close in the various paddocks, before there was any track action. (One paddock does require a special pass, only available to GRRC members.)
However, that immediate entry is also now restricted to GRRC members and everyone else has to wait until 8:30. Track actin starts at 9;00am.
Track action on the Friday is better value for those of us who just want to see and photograph cars on track, as all cars (and bikes) get to practice and at the end of the day is the first race, which goes into dusk. Although as is the norm, in the UK and Europe, everything runs by the clock, meaning that at times, there are gaps with nothing on track. This is even worse on Saturday and Sunday, as only half the race groups are on track each day.
For spectators on the far side of the track, a pedal car race held between the chicane and start line is a huge bore.
Purchasing a 'Roving Grandstand' ticket seems to be a good idea as although it is expensive, there are plenty of stands around the track. BUT, what they don't tell you is that many aren't accessible with the Roving stand ticket! I feel that it is a bit naughty to not explain that when purchasing tickets.
The website can also be frustrating as instead of starting each year with a fairly clear and clean sheet, many links for the current or upcoming event are in fact for the previous year.
Goodwood has three major events - The Members Meeting around April, which is as the name suggests, a race meeting limited to GRRC members (with 1 guest) only, for, two days.
The Festival Of Speed is a hillclimb, usually around July, also two days and the Revival Race meeting in September, three days.
World class events and hugely popular with Saturday tickets for the Revival usually sold out before the end of April.
Membership of the GRRC (or fellowship) isn't essential, but it does have advantages.
The organisation and attention to detail is usually stunning but bad weather, huge crowds, long queues for good but expensive food and drink, and limited shelter have to be factored in, but my best advice if you like taking action photographs is to head away from the start finish area and walk around the track where crowds are so much thinner and there are still food stalls.
No catch fencing or concrete barriers, pre 1966 cars. Just magic.

Our favourite place to be whatever is on. A brilliant atmosphere whether it’s a track day or the revival, we just love it there. The whole site is so well maintained and attention to detail at Revival is outstanding and the history of the place and the cars and drivers that have raced there is very special. To miss quote Roy Salvatori ‘ Give me Goodwood on any day and forget the rest of the world’

Whilst the weather forecast had been known to a certain degree before the event there was a severe lack of preparation for the muddy conditions experienced in the car parks. We had to leave early in order to have a better chance of getting any grip which meant we were not able to get full enjoyment from the event. This event has been staged for 26 years and we have attended 25 years with rain on many occasions but nothing came close to this. For the price charged we would expect far better management of this situation. The racing was good though.

We were for the first time at the Revival Festival and it was a complete success! Great organization, extremely much to see, especially for classic car fans a real joy. One day was extremely too little to see everything. We were so thrilled, we will definitely come back!!

A totally amazing experience to be at Goodwood Revival ⁇
Lots of exciting stalls with retoric stuff and clothing. But in the expensive end. Lots of food and drink stores.
However, note that there is often rain, so think about clothing and footwear.
I want many to go all in on retro dressing. But heels are not recommended when it's raining. Since the substrate is yeast and soil.

What a fantastic morning we had. Myself and my husband had been gifted the Hot Laps as 60th birthday treat.
I must admit I was a little nervous but I had the most amazing experience.
Some shouting was to be heard from me at the speeds we were going but thoroughly enjoyed it.
Highly recommend if you like speed.
Family came to view which was great then all went to the cafe by the planes.

Biggest car festival in the world. Tour indispensable for those who are passionate about cars.
4 days of festival, where you can see from close all the super cars of the present and the past together.

I'm a die-hard F1 fan and it was my first time traveling to Goodwood. We stayed for the full four days and it was an incredible experience! The event itself is organized so well, it's almost shocking. It also has festival vibes, everyone is super friendly, relaxed, happy, and helps you when they can. The amount of cars, 600+, is crazy and nothing is roped off and you can get as close as you want. Everyone is very respectful and there's so much to do that 4 days are almost not enough. Despite the fact that I mostly only like F1 and not cars in general, I still loved ever part of it and there were so many classic and historic and legendary cars, just wow. This is an absolute MUST for every motorsport fan and I can highly highly recommend going there. It's worth the money and you will not be disappointed.

How much roughly are the Goodwood festival of speed tickets for a day?
Thanks!

Hello,
I have been at the Goodwood Festival of Speed for three times. I had been there only for one day.
Next year I want to be the complete weekend at Goodwood. I have to travel from Germany and I have no car. Can someone tell me which is the best town to stay on the event and where I can find a cheap accomodation? The last years I have been in London Victoria and traveled to Chichester. But it was only for one day.
Thank you very much for your answer in advance.

Hallo zusammen,

Hi, I want to go to the Festival if Speed this year and I have a couple of friends from Germany who I will be collecting from Gatwick on the Friday.
I have looked at accommodation and naturally everything local appears to be booked out, so I am looking for viable alternatives?
So I have some special questions;
Is Brighton too far away with too much traffic in the morning?
At what time approximately to the roads around goodwood get jammed?
Do the entry tickets get sold out? We haven’t bought the tickets yet as we are still debating either 1 or 2 days entry but do we need to be in a rush to buy the tickets?
Thank you.

Very possibly a late answer but for next time. Tickets are only ever available online and they sell out months in advance. Brighton is way too far away, best to book around Goodwood or Chichester. Goodwood is nestled in country lanes, it gets really busy from first thing in the morning. Having said this, it is so worth it.

I will be arriving in the UK about 5 days before the event itself and staying a few days after... are there any Motorsport or car enthusiast activities in the area nearby? Thanks!

I’d like to buy tickets for the FOS 2020 for my partner. I’ve seen mixed reviews on whether one day is sufficient or if there’s enough to see and do for the entire four days. Thanks

I agree with PandLCheshire, it all depends on how much of a Motörhead you are. Maybe consider one day of time trials and one day of other attractions. Check their schedule. Have fun!

We are hoping to attend next year and looking at accommodation as we are from Devon. Is there a better location to be in for traffic in the mornings or is it pretty busy from all directions. I am not familiar with the set up so any advice appreciated. Many Thanks

Hi, one option you may consider is getting to Portsmouth, parking your car then taking the short train ride to Chichester, at which Goodwood has dedicated taxis at the train station to take you directly to the motor circuit via their dedicated lane. Very easy transfer and very little waiting. Also, if you have overnight accommodations a bit outside Chichester, you have many more choices and the cost is lower, just stay close to a connecting train. I hope this helps. C.

Hi, I have requested the ticket alert for FOS tickets for 2019- however can anyone give me an idea on how much they are likely to cost, including camping? We'd be planning on being there all weekend.

Looking to buy my husband tickets to goodwood festival of speed for his 40th but looking to make it that extra bit special by hospitality tickets, is it worth it and if so which area gives best value for money/views? Many thanks in advance, I have never been before and just want to make sure I get it right 😁

Definitely buy tickets for a seat in the stands. Make sure you are sat at least midway between the front and back of the stand. The weather was cold and wet when we went and we had heavy drizzle and high winds which blew the rain into the first 8 rows of seats and we got wet. Standing around the side of the track was 5 or 6 deep in places.
