I would suggest that you call the gift shop directly and explain your predicament and ask them what their policy is for returning the coat. More than likely you can exchange it for the proper size. But don't delay because I am sure they have a limit for returning items. Good luck!!!

I don't believe so but as other people have said, the walk up the last part of the hill is not at all difficult. I speak as a 74-year old with some chest problems and I had no problems at all. I even used the stairs up from the Grassmarket which are very steep indeed, and although I did stop a few times to catch my breath and give the old legs a break, even that was not too bad.

There are lots of bars leading from the castle. There are also bars and cafes along the mile and also down all the side streets but a small tip. Go further away from the castle as they will all be very very busy. Choose a place down a side street away from the hubbub and you will get peace and quiet to have a drink or eat.
