Pleasant riverside walk with several distances shown on local tour guide. The walks are on routes that are flat with no hills to speak of if you have a disability.

The walkway down by the river offers a pleasant opportunity to view the city from a different perspective. The paths are well maintained and there are plenty of other folks around doing the same thing, so it feels quite safe.

Was surprised by the width of the river, it is pretty wide! Nice to walk along the bank and see the city from a different angle. Some good pubs on the walk and so many churches! Well worth an hours walk

Beautiful river especially on a nice sunny day.
Well worth a stroll at anytime of the day, well laid out footpaths and plenty of restaurants and pubs along the way.
So central to Inverness too.

I thought this was going to be a fun kids activity but it was a bit more of a history lesson. Enjoyed just the same. The guide needs to loosen up a bit and not be quite so formal and strict, it wort of spoiled some of it..

We stopped in Inverness for a dinner on our way to the cottage we booked. We did a nice walk around the river and bridges on it. It was quite full and fast moving. We found nice spots for photo. It was beautiful on dawn.

This was our 1st time here and for 1 night.
It's a lovely hotel, and the room was nice too. We are a family of 3 with a 8year old.
Location seem to be great but due to covid the bar area wasn't much and only 1 member of staff so didn't bother.
Lift was also out of service
We did have breakfast which in the end was good but 45 minutes to wait for the breakfast was ridiculous, shortage of staff probably due to covid.
We enjoyed it when it eventually came.

River Ness and Ness Islands are beautiful day and night.
Whilst walking around the islands we found a little sculpture of a leaf man, which was really cute.
Then walking back over there was the town and castle in the background.
On the night time the river is lit up and castle is just stunning.
Very peaceful walk and I will definitely return.

On a recent holiday my family and I stayed in Inverness and enjoyed walks along the beautiful banks of the River Ness. The river is only approx. 6 miles long and flows from the northern end of Loch Ness to Inverness before flowing into the Beauly Firth. There are seats along the banks to relax and enjoy the views.

The River Ness is a river which flows from Loch Ness towards and through Inverness and out into the North Sea.
The area around the river in Inverness is very pretty and well maintained and well worth taking a walk alongside.
There are benches to sit upon and places to grab a coffee and a snack.
Well worth checking out whilst walking round the city as a place to pause and relax.

Hello, I'm interested in doing the river island walk I've read about - anyone done this and how long should it take? Also is there a map anyone used and found useful or is it pretty easy? Thank you :)

If you mean walking around ness islands, then it's as long as you like, you could speedwalk through them in ten mins, or stroll through in a couple of hours. We started on the south side of the river in town, walked along the river, crossed onto the islands, and then played crazy golf on the north side and walked further on to whin park for the kids to play, then walked back along north side to Inverness town past cathedral. Probably spent 3-4 hours doing all that. It's a truly stunning part of the world. Would loved to have done it at night, it's got lights all around the paths apparently. It's very clean too
