Byen for champagne-elskere! Flotte bygninger med imponerende arkitektur og flotte parker. I tillegg til å reise til Reims er der også mange spennende småbyer å oppdage rundt Epernay. Fordel å være interessert i champagne, da det meste handler om nettopp champagne.
Spennende og flott gate; Avenue de Champagne. Obs; søndager og mandager er mye av restauranter og butikker stengt.

The tourist office offers affordable visits to local vineyards (a decimal of the price of big houses), free tastings and cool souvenirs. There is also a small 45 min tour around town three times a day. This is the place to start your adventure with Epernay!

Aurelie a pris le temps d écouter notre souhait et ensuite nous a conseillé 3 producteurs.
Aurelie était très pro , sympathique. Grâce à ses conseils nous sommes allés chez Nicolas. Nous avons commandé et dégusté sur place.

Nous avons été très bien accueillis à l'office de tourisme et avons obtenu les informations recherchées.
Et cerise sur le gâteau, très belle expo de crèches de Noël.

El ayuntamiento de Epernay. El edificio es un palacio de tres plantas. La última abuhardillada. En el frontal hay un balcon que tiene esculpido un angel y a los lados, los nombres de caidos, bajo la leyenda "Pour le Droit" "Pour la Liberte"

Очень приветливые сотрудники, все покажу и расскажут. Много сувенирной продукции. Единственный минус - не работает WiFi.

So very disappointed in our visit. Surprisingly very few restaurants of any quality in and around Epernay. Office de Tourisme was sadly very ill informed. Went in and asked what restaurants were open for lunch near the Ave. de Champagne.I was handed an official printed map/ leaflet with about 7/8 restaurants listed. None on the Ave de Champagne. The lady helping us circled 2 of them as her recommendation. I called the first circled recommendation and was told that they were not a restaurant but a food laboratory and did not serve food. The second one circled was permanently closed. In the end we went to a place v close to Ave de Champagne called Chez Francoise…….AVOID at all costs……I am serious, the worst most disgusting food I have ever been served anywhere, ever. The couple next to us returned their meals. Our server asked me if there was anything wrong with our food and we politely said that we had eaten too much earlier. Then I crossed the street to go and pay the cashier/ suspect he was either Manager or owner. As I was paying, the waitress, unaware that I spoke fluent French came in and asked the cashier to take the couples main course off their bill, the cashier said “No, give them a complimentary dessert” The waitress insisted that they had hardly touched their food and that it should be taken off the bill. The food served was INSULTING, and I suspect lacking in hygiene. My Tuna nicoise looked awful, old, limp and oily….one small bite confirmed this. It really looked like something that had been prepared a few days earlier.
The Ave. de Champagne was a huge disappointment……Very corporate , lacking in character mock/ refurbished palaces with little gardens serving champagne at serious prices ….. all very pretentious and totally lacking in charm or atmosphere. No food/ meals available unless you were staying as a guest in one of the v fancy hotels. The black cobbled style street, lacked any charm, was hot, noisy because of the vehicles going at good speed down this uncharming street. We sat outside at and tried a “flight” of champagnes, which was ruined by the traffic noise and the petrol fumes. It would not take a brain surgeon to come up with a more viable alternative….. a pedestrian zone with little tasting street cafes a little charming art and music accompanied by flower beds and water features. The atmosphere was actually similar to Regent Street in London or The Magnificent Mile in Chicago.
The Route de Champagne was not much better. The size and scale of the vineyards was impressive, the tiny narrow streets in the occasional village were charming……. But…… there were NO restaurants…..One day we found a decent restaurant with a garden seating Henry IV which was pretty good and the other day for lunch we find a husband and wife run, grocery shop and restaurant serving only Charcuterie platters in a village called Rilly la Montagne. See charcuterie plate photo attached. Very tasty.
Very sad indeed. Was really excited to go to Epernay and left more than slightly disappointed. Will never return. Nothing, nothing compared to the experience we had in Alsace , Burgundy, Cognac, or Bordeaux.
Someone pointed out to me that tourism is not their major concern, selling Champagne was what was important…… my response…..it shows!

1ère adresse à faire en arrivant car des dégustations avec de petits producteurs locaux sont organisées gratuitement. Aujourd'hui Nicolas moreau nous a fait partager sa passion et son savoir-faire. Produits d excellentes qualité pour un prix correct digne de rivaliser avec les grands noms ! Sommes allés en acheter dans un domaine surplombant epernay. Le personnel de l office de tourisme très accueillant et souriant. Merci.

Bonjour! We will be in Paris during the 2019 habits de lumièr and would love to make a day trip to see the festivities. It appears the last train back to Paris leaves at 20:30hr.
