Quella dei quattro angoli del mondo (o dell’osservatorio) è una bella fontana realizzata nella seconda metà dell’Ottocento, frutto della cooperazione tra alcuni dei più grandi scultori francesi dell’epoca. Tra le sculture in bronzo che compongono l’opera, la parte più significativa è rappresentata dalle quattro figure femminili simboleggianti I continenti che sorreggono la sfera celeste, decorata con i segni dello zodiaco e con al centro la Terra. Attorno al gruppo centrale si notano poi altre sculture rappresentanti cavalli, delfini e tartarughe. Fontana molto scenografica che si può ammirare all’ingresso del giardino dei grandi esploratori.

Cette fontaine assez imposante se situe du côté sud de l'avenue de l'Observatoire, au bout du jardin des grands explorateurs. Construite vers la fin du XIXème siècle, elle est l'oeuvre de l'architecte Gabriel Davioud et des sculpteurs Jean Baptiste Carpeaux et Emmanuel Frémiet.
Au sommet de la fontaine se tiennent quatre femmes représentant (à l'époque) les quatre parties du monde (Europe, Asie, Afrique et Amérique), portant le globe orné des signes zodiacaux. La partie basse est composée de huit chevaux, des tortues et des dauphins. L'ensemble est imposant et mérite une visite, surtout lorsque la fontaine est en eau.
Au sommet de la fontaine se tiennent quatre femmes représentant (à l'époque) les quatre parties du monde (Europe, Asie, Afrique et Amérique), portant le globe orné des signes zodiacaux. La partie basse est composée de huit chevaux, des tortues et des dauphins. L'ensemble est imposant et mérite une visite, surtout lorsque la fontaine est en eau.

Al sur de los Jardines de Luxemburgo o a la entrada del Jardín de los Grandes Exploradores, desde Boulevard du Montparnasse/Metro Observatoire - Port Royal. La fuente más bella de París, ruidosa e hipnotizante con sus caballos y tortugas a puro chorro sobre los caprichosos 4 mundos de Jean-Baptiste Carpeaux sobre 4 mujeres de bronce. Símbolo de los 4 continentes; el quinto, Oceanía, se omitió por cuestiones de simetría: caprichos del arte. Se la conoce como las Cuatro Partes del Mundo y merece ser contemplada. Sacale 4 fotos.

Found at the end of an avenue in Luxembourg gardens, we happened across this on our hop on hop off bus and thought it was magnificent, cast in bronze it really stands out.

Située dans le jardin des Grands Explorateurs, tout près du jardin du Luxembourg. Elle représente le monde, ses 4 statues symbolisant l'Afrique, l'Asie, l'Europe et l'Amérique (l'Océanie était mal connue en 1874!). Dans mon top 5 des plus belles fontaines de Paris.

Esta fonte está no início do Jardin des Grands-Explorateurs, que termina junto ao Jardin du Luxembourg. É uma belíssima fonte que homenageia os lugares do mundo. Em frente, o prédio do Observatório de Paris.

The "Four parts of the world" fountain which in some tour guides is also called the "Observatory fountain" because of its location at the entrance of the "Garden of the Great Explorers".
This fountain is a very impressive statue and well worth visiting on your way to (or from) the Luxembourg Palace from the south gate of the “Jardin du Luxembourg”.
The central part of the statue is a group of 4 women supporting the globe, which is decorated with signs of the zodiac, symbolizes the 4 parts of the world, Europe, Asia, Africa and America.
The periphery of the fountain around the large basin contains horses, turtles and fish, all splashing water and fog that create an impressive memorable look.

Это заглавное произведение люксембургского сада. Объект, который вы встречаете первым, если идёте от Монпарнаса в исторический центр. Фонтан Четырех частей мира ,или Обсерватории , или фонтан Карпо. Этот бронзовый фонтан, разработанный Габриэлем Давидом, был построен между 1867 и 1875 годами и собрал в себя успехи нескольких художников.
Жан-Батист Карпо создал центральную скульптуру, полное имя которой «Четыре части света». Четыре бронзовых женщины поддерживают земной шар. Они представляют Африку , Америку , Азию и Европу. Куда Австралия и Антарктида делись непонятно. Но так видели художники.
Фонтан великолепен. Особенно красиво выглядят головы коней в феерическом взрыве водяных брызг.
