Colin was an amazing tour guide and host for our Normandy/D day tour. Look no further, he is amazingly well educated and knowledgeable of the history and the area. We did a one day tour, which included Omaha and Utah beaches and the German and American cemeteries. You could easily spend a week doing this if you are serious history buffs. For us one day was enough. He picked us up at the hotel (Villa Lara - also highly recommended) and dropped us off at the end. Highly recommended.

Absolutely Amazing Guide! Out Family of 7, kids 10-13, parents, grandparents, spent a fascinating day with our new friend Colin. I grew up practically memorizing “The Longest Day”, so many of the places and people were very familiar to me. Colin never missed a step, giving whatever details we wanted, yet was entertaining and solemn, as the situation warranted. We will only go back when Colin is available.

We spent a relaxing, lovely, rainy day with Colin. He was very knowledgeable and had an enjoyable commentary for the entire day. With that said, he was not 'overly talkative' and let us think through the experience with reverence and awe. We went to Normandy and saw Omaha Beach and the cemetery. I requested information about General Rudder and he was aptly prepared! He took us to a wonderful lunch place, and was just a delight to spend the day with!

A truly amazing tour and guide. We spent three days making our way around Normandy. Colin has amazing stories to bring the history to life. As an American tourist I especially appreciated how much I enjoyed the tours of the British and Canadian beaches and other sites. Colin was able to inform and entertain about a part of the D Day invasion I knew little about. Being at the American Cemetery for the lowering of the flags was poignant and emotional. Colin assisted with the finding of a name at the cemetery for a family friend. I will remember this trip for the rest of my life and I hope to return to Normandy for future tours.

Colin was my personal tour guide of the D-Day beaches for two full days in late May 2019. He is easy to work with and is an expert in the subject. He knows, in some detail, the D-Day history of every allied beach, German bunker, affected French village, as well as the personalities on both sides.

Before travelling to Normandy, I reviewed many tour guide profiles and Colin's was very impressive. Based on Trip Advisor reviews the choice to use Colin was made and we were very happy we did. There were four of us and we had Colin for two days. He is very knowledgeable and well versed on D Day activities in all sectors. A private tour while expensive is advisable in order to gain the background information to better understand the invasion.

Wow. For anyone that has watched the Longest Day, Band of Brothers or Saving Private Ryan this is for you.
Colin knows all the back routes, best cafes to stop at and places to park. He'll take you to the U.S. Cemetery, Utah and Omaha beaches, small country churches still riddled with bullet holes, tank embattlements all of it.
He makes it all come alive and gives you enough time to get lost in your own thoughts, fantasies or just walks on what are objectively beautiful beaches - despite their bloody histories.
Colin is very flexible - picking us up at the ferry terminal, driving us to our rental car and then leaving us at our hotel at the end of the day.
He has been giving tours in the area for 30+ years. He isn't some big company - this is his private business and he runs it with the care you'd expect from an owner operator.
Only quibble is I wouldn't describe him as a great story teller - but he knows all the facts and a lot of very interesting anecdotes.
He is a good man and you'll be happy you chose him to show you around the D-Day beaches and Normandy.

Been on my bucket list to visit Normandy for a long time. Hired Colin for 3 days and the experience was well worth the cost.
From Pegasus Bridge to Utah Beach we saw as much as we could cram into 3 days. Colin's pictures and anecdotes about specific warriors and their deeds were really terrific !

Our visit to Normandy was on a cruise ship docked at Le Havre and the onboard excursions only visited the US D-Day sights. We also like to do such trips privately so we can follow our own agenda. Colin McGarry, our guide for more than nine hours, came up on an Internet search and what a great find he turned out to be. He not only had encyclopedic knowledge of the military sites but was also very interesting about the region in general having married a local girl nearly 40 years ago.
Our tour, tailor-made by him for us, covered the British and Canadian landing beaches as well as Pegasus Bridge, the scene of the Allied glider landings which kicked the whole thing off and recorded the first victory on the day. We were able to spend a fair bit of time there which meant we were able to do justice to the excellent museum with its fascinating inside exhibits and original and restored military hardware outside.
All in all a splendid day. Though not cheap for two it would obviously be better for, say, two couples. It certainly more than ticked ticked all our boxes. For added value he returned the camera I had left on the back seat of his car to the pier – with a smile.

Had a wonderful day with Colin. Picked us up at the La Harve cruise terminal and delivered us back on time as promised. Had a nice car, great knowledge and a good plan to show us as much as possible in the time available. He knows his stuff, treats his guests well and I would recommend him to anyone who wants to see this really important stuff. He would be a fit for a novice or experienced passenger whether they know a little or a lot about the subject. Would use him again for sure!
