The Memorial was the place where leading figures in January 1942 discussed the so-called Final Solution to the Jewish Question. The former mansion is located at Wannsee, an upscale Berlin suburb located at the Lake Wannsee. It is possible to reach the Memorial by S train to the Wannsee station and continue by bus to the Memorial. A parking lot is also located near the site.
Tours are available and our tour guide did a great job explaining important details of the extensive exhibits. The permanent exhibition gives in depth information about the Conference and includes several original documents with explanatory text in English. The Memorial is definitely worth a visit.
Admission is free, donations accepted.

In diesem imposanten Gebäude wurde im Januar 1942 die sogenannte "Endlösung der Judenfrage" in einer Konferenz mit führenden Nazi-Vertretern beschlossen.
Die dazu gehörige Ausstellung ist zugleich bedrückend und sehr informativ sowie beeindruckend gemacht.
Gerade heute umso wichtiger, dass der Völkermord nie vergessen wird!!
Der Eintritt ist frei, und der Garten mit Blick auf den Wannsee schön angelegt.
Uneingeschränkt zu empfehlen - für alle Generationen!!

Really interesting history and the visit was free. Spent 3 hours going through the house and taking in all the information. Would recommend to any history buffs

The house and grounds are beautiful and peaceful. The history contained inside is a terrible reminder of how cruel people can be. There are a lot of interesting photos and displays and folding chairs available if you get tired of standing. The front desk offers books for sale that contain all the information that is on display. Be sure to visit the library upstairs, it is filled with a wealth of books written about the holocaust.

Wansee is such a beautiful place and it's easy to see why Berliners visit here. The house itself is grand and is in a perfect location by the lake. It's therefore so difficult to comprehend how such dark and horific things could have been discussed and agreed in such a setting. The exhibition is well set out and easy to follow. Very informative and definitely worth visiting if you have the chance. Easy to reach from Berlin City centre. Train to Wansee (approx 30 mins) and then a bus (114) from outside the station (5/10 mins). If you've got a 24 hour train ticket it also covers the cost of the bus. Entry to the house is free.

Sehr gute Aufbereitung der systematischen Vorgehensweise in der vernichtung der Juden. Belegt durch Dokumente, Schriftstücke und Zeitzeugen, die zur Sprache kommen.

This is a crucially important place to visit. The beautiful setting contrasts with the horror of decisions made. The museum had a range of documents which I hadn't seen before and the final displays provoked a lot of thought about accountability and the Holocaust. Important place to visit.

Interesting history but seems to be focused entirely on the effect on the jewish population - I could not really find any mention of roma people, homosexuals, communists and other groups who were devastated by the decisions made in this building.

Where can you sunbathe or swim in Wansee

There is a large lake that I saw yachts and small craft on but I didn't see anyone swimming or sunbathing. Not sure if its allowed.

I was on a private tour with a German friend of mine and I didn't see any guided tours or audio items available although if you go to the website, you can find an answer. Most of the displays are documents and pictures.The house itself is beautiful as is the back of the house which faces the lake. It's a worthwhile tour and chilling what took place there.

We got to wansee by train and a cab from the station. We took a bus back to the station and returned by train. The trains run frequently. You could spend from an hour to 3 to 4 hours depending on how much detail you wish to take in

yes the s train goes there . from your location in berlin study the train map how to connect to the s from where you are the station is wansee. from there bus 114 will take you to the place , bus station right outside the house . . its well worth the effort and an important sight.

Where did you get the guide from. We are visiting in May and the website show tours 2 days a week and only in German..which we don't speak.

I don´t think you´ll need a guide - the museum is quite small, almost self explanatory, and as far as I recall youl´ll find alla signs and texts in english as well as german.

20 different languages. Including Hebrew and of course English. All, very clear and cordial. Don't miss this experience, you won't regret it. open daily, including Sundays during daytime. Check out in their Website for exact opening hours.
