We have visited art galleries all around the world and couldn't understand why this particular exhibition left us with impressionism fatigue. Each room displayed impressionist art with a specific theme...light and shadow, gardens, seascapes, for example...but we found that there was little variety within the scope of each theme. Maybe there were just too many works on show to spend the necessary time one wanted to on any particular painting. We agree with other reviewers that the security there was rather 'aggressively' enforced and also agree that 16 Euros (midweek, 18 at weekends) is a rather expensive entrance fee; however, we are from Spain and are used to our museums generally offering free entrance. The building from the outside is certainly impressive and their café, on the Pavilion, however, was delightful and the staff extremely pleasant.

The museum is located in Potsdam’s historic center in a beautifully reconstructed building. It is easy to reach by public transportation and also paid parking is available nearby.
The museum was initiated by Hasso Plattner, who also founded the software company SAP. His personal collection is an important part of the museum’s permanent collection and includes several Impressionist paintings by artists such as Monet and Renoir.
When we visited in August a special exhibition with works of Dutch impressionists was on show. It is a large museum with much to see and it is possible to spend several hours here. Also there is a large shop and a nice café.

War selten in einem so schönen Museum . Man kann gar nicht alle Künstler wie Monet , Pissaro ,Signac usw. aufzählen . Deshalb vor dem Besuch überlegen was man unbedingt sehen will und auch Pausen machen . Das Museum war insgesamt stimmig von den freundlichen Mitarbeitern , den sauberen Toiletten bis hin zum Shop und Cafe .Last but not least sei daran erinnert , dass Hasso Plattner seine Privatsammlung der Öffentlichkeit zugänglich machte und noch für einen großartigen Rahmen für die Präsentation sorgte . Chapeau .

Höchstwertige Exponate ! Unglaublich !
In einer Anzahl, dass man wirklich staunt.
H. Plattner bietet Potsdam damit ein echtes Highlight.
Unbedingt Kopfhörer mitbringen, am besten mit Noise reduction, App auf Handy laden, mitbringen, kostenfreies WLAN einschalten und der passenden App folgen.
Einziger Schwachpunkt: Café / Restaurant hat nicht annähernd das passende Niveau. Hier könnte man sich z.B. Frankfurts Städel etwas orientieren.
In einer Anzahl, dass man wirklich staunt.

Das BARBERINI ist ein gelungenes Gebäude in welchem sich eines der führenden Kunstmuseen befindet. Als Kunst Freund besuche ich das Haus zweimal jährlich.

It took us 45 minutes to reach the gallery from central Berlin using the tube and train. It is a 5 minute walk from the train station and signposted.
Around 18 euros entrance per adult and a must for anyone that enjoys art. Not that dissimilar to exhibition entrance fees in the UK, the National Gallery charges around £26. Staff friendly and approachable. They are strict about no bags, no outer jackets etc but the same for all museums in Berlin. Lockers and a cloakroom provided as well as a small shop.Superb coffee shop on the ground floor. The coffee and cake were the best I consumed whilst in Berlin and indeed the service provided too, very helpful.
The collection of paintings, the majority purchased by a billionaire are stunning and superb. Some were unfortunately out on loan but that is common for most galleries. Monet, Sisley and quite a few painting by Caillebotte were on displayed. Also an exhibition of Dutch paintings. Useful app to download too.
It was like visiting the Courtauld Gallery in London, a sense of privacy and superb art. Not busy, so you could take your time. My only regret is that I do not live closer, so I could visit more frequently. Some paintings are destination paintings and you have to travel to see, it was well worth the journey.

I really enjoyed my visit here, wonderfully laid out and worth the price of admission.
A bit of a trek from Berlin, I suggest getting there when they open and making a day of the journey. The location is in a square near a few other museums/sight and on a river for lovely views before or after visiting.
One unexpected highlight was the media room which showed a tv interview of past exhibits, because of that I discovered 2 new artists that I researched when I got home.

The safety regulations are awful. Whey will take away ALL your possessions. We went to all the museums in Berlin with a tiny purse in hand. And it was fun for all Berlin Museums. This one is something else! Yes, you are entitled to keep your telephone. The collection is truly small. Absolutely no sense in spending 16 euros.
