Easy to find on the north side of Cologne cathedral. Enter via the obvious main entrance on the main plaza. Immediately in front of you is an Information Booth. Whilst they speak English and can give you some basic information the best place to go is the Deutsche Bahn (Logo is a red DB) office.
From the front of the Information Booth look left and head up the DB office is on the right.
The staff in there are brilliant and very helpful. They will show you how to purchase tickets from machines or from over the counter.
Having purchased a ticket you need to ‘validate’ it. This is done at an Orange coloured machine usually located by ticket machines or just at the beginning of platforms. Feed your ticket in and the machine stamps it.
If travelling to Koln-Bonn Airport you need the S19 train which runs approximately every 20 minutes.
The station is well laid out and each platform is easy to locate. The platforms are subdivided into A-B and C-D. If your train says A-B it simply means it’s not very long and will only cover areas A and B on the platform.

Wie schon öfters erwähnt ist der Bahnhof nicht schön vom Dreck und den Obdachlosen abgesehen hat es mich total genervt das scheinbar keine Rolltreppe dort funktioniert!

Bei meiner Anreise von Essen Hbf nach Frankfurt Flughafen müsste ich in Köln Hbf umsteigen . Tagsüber , was ich früher schon ein paar mal gemacht habe , kein problem . Nachts um 2 Uhr ist es schon etwas , ich nenne es einmal , Gewöhnungsbedürftig . Es ist recht düster und fast alle Geschäfte sind geschlossen . Ich war froh als mein Anschlußzug kam .

Danke an die netten DB Service-Mitarbeiter Dudes die meiner Bekannten und mir geholfen haben meine Bekannte, welche im Rollstuhl sitzt die Treppe an Gleis 1 runterzutragen, da der Aufzug vor unserer Nase den Geist aufgab.

We visited Cologne on Thursday 10th August, 2023, as our Rhine Cruiser was docked near to the city centre. First stop was the impressive railway station with easy access up the escalator and no turnstiles. The station was extremely crowded with trains coming and going almost every minute. Trains were very smart and ultra modern. Some trains were double deckers which sadly is unsuitable for the UK because of low tunnels and bridges. On the ground floor is the Market Hall with many shops and eateries. Overall a very interesting place to visit.

駅から降りると目の前に大聖堂があります。私はアーヘンから来て、ケルンのホテルに泊まり、翌朝、フランクフルトを経由してローテンブルクに行きました。
滞在中にはブリュールの世界遺産のお城にも行けて、他にもライン下りの町やボン空港など交通の要衝です。
駅構内にもコインロッカーやATMがあり、治安面でもドイツでは問題は感じませんでした。（油断はできないけど）

Hauptbahnhof in Köln in zentraler Lage. Am Hinterausgang etwas schmuddelig und nach vorne fällt man in den Dom.

Doesn't have the sheer beauty of Valencia's estadion nord but is mightily impressive none the less, if shopping is your thing you could probably spend a week not leaving the station, it's a town in itself. A big station and relatively easy to use.

In cologne, the station is large and there many people to help you purchase the right ticket. It is a very busy, efficient station. We took train from Cologne to Frankfort purchasing our ticket just before. No problem.

Hi, Download the DB Navigator app to your phone. This gives you all the times and prices for your travel. Its easy to access and negotiate. Im heading back to Cologne also. At Frank furt airport on the flight boards they also give you you your train timetable to Cologne and platform etc. Thye Ice-IC 2 hour train is only !9.90 Euro or you can go express on ICEin one hour for 59.90 Euro.
