Clean area, full of restaurants, bars, shops with pleasure. At night illuminated in many places that give it greater splendor.
Streets with flowers that glitter on the white backgrounds of the walls.
Lovely.

Waterfront walks are rarely of great interest - on one side there is sand, beach and sea, on the other side there are buildings - often from the 1970s so very unpretty - piled on top of each other.
Efforts have been made here in recent years to improve this situation a little by adding statues all along, which absolutely helps - as well as the beautiful stones on the ground, and the many benches to sit on - but by its nature this kind of walk is never very beautiful.

Since this year, breathtaking transformations of the PASEO which has doubled in width... (condemnation of the seaside road) with huge palm trees, gigantic greasy planes, numerous floral plants, benches, cycle path...

First line of pedestrian beach very well planned. Recently renovated, with lots of vegetation and fountains, also benches and stalls selling books or other accessories to the public. Very lively at night. With a bike path along its entire length, it starts from the coastal path that will link the entire Costa del Sol in the future (at the moment Estepona has already built many kilometers of bike path). Adjacent to the beautiful Rada beach, which I only have to say about having some areas of pebbles.

Pleasant walk along the Estepona seafront which extends for a few km... overall quite well-kept and full of greenery and flowers!
It is also perfect for those with children because it is equipped with play areas!

Dit vormt onderdeel van de boulevard die erg mooi en breed is. Over de lengte is er genoeg groen, ook genoeg terrasjes en speeltoestellen voor de kinderen. Alles is goed onderhouden en heeft een frisse uitstraling

I have no idea of how much money Estepona has spent in the recent years to make the paeseo so nice but for sure money we’ll spent. It is simply amazing, very wide. Full of access to the beach, of activities (playgrounds, chess) and shadow areass.

Thousands, or more likely, millions of €€€ have been spent on this Seafront Promenade in the last three years.
It is, by far, the best Prom anywhere in Southern Spain, possibly in all Spain.
So what have they done?
Well, the original Promenade, the Paseo, has had new lighting, new paving, new sunshades (we laughed and called them “flying saucers” at first, but then we realised that they are actually catching rainwater to store for the flowers), new benches, new flowerbeds. Lovely!
Then after that we endured months of disruption when they cut off traffic on the main road parallel to the beach, the Avenida de España, and dug it up.
But now it is just FABULOUS! Over a kilometre of the most gorgeous place for a stroll that you could imagine.
The former road is now a wonderful traffic-free Boulevard running alongside the original Promenade, effectively making it three times as wide. It is filled with Palm trees, with flower beds, with benches, with pretty fountains, with coloured spotlights at night.
Absolutely stunning! At one end, near the Marina, it leads up to the Tower Mirador del Carmen with a Viewing platform on the 13th floor, allowing panoramic views all around town, up towards the mountains, and out to sea.
Halfway along, they have made completely new playgrounds for the children, with very interesting equipment and little hills for tiny scooter users.
So this main part of the Paseo with its Boulevard, sits within the overall Paseo, which is about twice that length, from near the Carrefour hypermarket all the way to the marina.
It goes alongside the Rada beach, with its showers, lavatories, and chiringuitos - those typically Andalusian beach bars where you can get skewers of sardines, crispy fried squid, cool beer and a reviving sangria.
All along there are benches to sit and watch the other people stroll. And stroll they do!
Summer evenings the families are out in force, the children's playgrounds are packed. In July and August there are often entertainers out there, a little evening market selling trinkets and fans, scarves and souvenirs. A set of trampolines, and one of those bungee jumping contraptions.
A temporary stage is set up, and throughout the summer there are (free) concerts, exhibitions of flamenco dancing. There is also a fortnight-long Book Fair - there are often books in English among the bargains.
In the summer months, the Paseo Marítimo is THE place to be when the sun sets, especially on 16th July, the feast day of Nuestra Señora del Carmen, when at dusk the statue is carried from the church and then along the Paseo, on to the beach and into the water. The statue itself is on a platform and doesn't get wet. But the young lads carrying it certainly do.
This is a very popular festival, and well worth seeing.
By the Correos - main post office, you come to a little square with a long line of tiny, foot-high, fountains. This is the start of the Boulevard section.
Nearby you will see a curious tall metal statue. Its name is Perro 1 – meaning Dog 1. We don’t know if there will be a 2. 😊 It is a favourite place to take your photo. Further along there is a statue of a boy playing with a hoop, a giant Peseta, and then statues of a Fisherman and a Farmer, the two traditions of Estepona.
The Paseo+Boulevard continues on to and past the big roundabout with the horses at the end of the Avenida Juan Carlos I, where there is another sprinkling of chiringuitos to rest your weary feet and wet your dry whistle, before continuing along the beautiful Boulevard to the marina.
Do stop and stare out to sea. If the wind is from the West, you can see Gib clearly and to the left, the corresponding mountain in Ceuta in North Africa. On a misty East-wind day, you can't.
But there is plenty to see at other times along the Paseo Marítimo.
There are bars and restaurants a-plenty, impressive cactus gardens,
and everywhere palm trees and flowers.
Enjoy this wonderful place to stroll!

beautifully restored and well positioned maritime walkway, ideal for walking, rollerblading, cycling, and wheelchairs and prams. All ages can enjoy, plenty of seating on the long stretch, also bars and cafeterias, restaurants, underground car park and excellent seaviews all the way ! Extra large chess boards to play for free. Dog walking too, but NOT in summer, as their pads will burn with the heat of the tiles ! A stunning paseo as an extetion of the Senda Litoral.
