A faire, pour le point de vue sur la cathédrale de Palma et le palais royal. Le château en lui même est sympa. C'est surtout la vue au sommet qui est belle et de se balader dans la cours ronde.

Leuk rond kasteel, niet overdreven groot.
Binnen wat museum opstellingen om een keer doorheen te lopen.
Boven een mooi uitzicht over Palma.
Niet spectaculair maar bezoekje waard als je in de buurt bent.

We hadden de bus genomen om het kasteel te bezoeken en waren helaas bij de verkeerde halte uitgestapt. Uiteindelijk hebben we het kasteel gevonden via rotsachtige wandelpaadjes die ons de heuvel op leidden (niet via de trap die er rechtstreeks heen leidt). Een aardige klim in de brandende zon, maar zeker de moeite waard. Op de dag dat we het kasteel bezochten, was de entree kennelijk gratis, maar dat is niet altijd het geval. Het kasteel is niet enorm groot, maar heeft wel een unieke ronde vorm. Als je bovenop staat, kun je genieten van fraaie uitzichten van het heuvelachtige landschap en van (de haven van) Palma. Er is een museum waar verschillende opgravingen tentoongesteld staan, alsmede allerlei maquettes, beelden en een kamer gewijd aan de filosoof/schrijver Rámon met de korte achternaam. Al met al zeker de moeite waard als je in de buurt bent.

Leider gibt es nur wenige reguläre PKW Parkplätze, diese sind kostenlos. Wir haben am Straßenrand geparkt, es gab keine Probleme. Eine Besichtigung ist sehr zu empfehlen: toller Blick über Palma und schöne alte Skulpturen. Der Eintritt ist zudem mit 4 Euro/Erwachsener günstig.

We took a taxi from downtown and it happened to be on a day where admission was free. It wasn't crowded at all and we enjoyed our time walking around both inside and out. There were some interesting exhibits inside as well. Our difficulty was trying to get a ride back into town.

The castle is located on the outskirts of Palma de Mallorca, with very interesting architecture and a very nice view of the historic center of the city and the port. There is also a small history museum dedicated to your city. Free.

Cycled here on an ebike tour from the old town. Stunning views of Palma and plenty to see within the castle, a great history lesson.

Ottimo museo della storia della città di Palma con solo 4 € si gode di una bellissima vista e di una interessantissima vista su questo fascinoso castello. Si può accedere comodamente all’ingresso in auto dove c’è un ampio parcheggio.

My guide book says that there are guided tours in English which leave at 11am Tues-Sat but the website only mentions a guided tour in Catalan which leaves at 11:00 and Spanish at 12:30. Can anyone confirm the English tours?

Did not notice any signs for a guided tour, but then there is very little information points and what there is has no English translation. This doesn’t stop the enjoyment of appreciating the castle and views but some guide to its history would be nice.

How long does it take to walk back down into Palma from the Castle?

Steps seem to feaure in a lot of reviews. Will a taxi go right up to the Castle or will there be steps to climb from where it would drop me?

A taxi can take you right up to the castle. Without taking any steps, you can stay at the road level and see views out across Palma and the Mediterranean. You can also look up at the castle. However, yes to truly enjoy the castle, to go inside and even (when inside) to go to the top of the castle, climbing steps is necessary. Perhaps 25 -30 steps up rock stairs. I am sorry, but I did not see anywhere that would make getting up to and inside the castle easily wheelchair accessible.

How many steps up from the very bottom please, we caught No3 bus but was a long hike up what seemed like hundreds of steps in torrential rain. Tourist info office didn't tell us that fact!!!
