This is my favorite part of BCN, a big and very cool neighborhood of outstanding architecture, shopping, and lots of international food. We stayed on the edge this time and came to this area over and over to eat and drink. Full of monuments.

Verso le 10 di mattina siamo usciti dal hotel, io e mia madre stavamo camminando per andare alla fermata per andare al mare. E poi un signore si è avvicinato chiedendo come si fa ad andare alla Sagrada Familia. E poi all’improvviso 2 signori si sono avvicinati a noi, ci hanno detto che sono poliziotti facendo vedere il distintivo. Hanno chiesto documenti e chiedendo anche quanti soldi abbiamo con noi. L’altro signore ha fatto vedere il suo passaporto e i suoi soldi al poliziotto falso, e quindi io e mia madre abbiamo fatto la stessa cosa. Io perplessa come mai controllano anche i soldi. Era successo tutto all’improvviso. Siamo rimaste bloccate per qualche minuto. Quindi hanno controllato i nostri passaporti e controllato anche i soldi. Ci hanno pure detto di stare attenti ai ladri che ci sono tanti in giro. Siamo riusciti poi ad andare al mare e poi tornati dal hotel, lì abbiamo visto che hanno rubato i nostri soldi. Non ci siamo accorti che sono loro i ladri perché sembravano persone buone e poi erano vestiti bene invece ci sbagliavamo. Dopo tutto quello che era successo ho pensato che magari anche il signore che faceva finta di essere turista anche lui era insieme a quei 2 ladri. Magari erano tutti insieme. Era un modus operandi. Non torneremo mai più a Barcellona. C’erano ladri dappertutto in quella città. 😭😭😭

Beautiful suburban neighborhood away from the noise of tourists and hubub. Plenty of options for restaurants that offer you the opportunity for a great meal, no matter what time of day it is and affordable as well.
Within 15 minutes walking to Diagonal and the main avenues connecting you to transportation by bus or metro.
Some large hotels in the area (Hotel Praktik) where we ate breakfast daily as well as boutique hotels, like ours (Casa Mathilda). Also an area with many airbnb choices if you prefer to stay on your own. Easy to hail a taxi from and many options for mini supermarkets.

Barrio amplio, obrero, no turístico, lleno de negocios de restauración, hostales, pubs...
Las avenidas son amplias, arboladas, y la mayoría de los edificios son antiguos, con una arquitectura impresionante.
Una buena zona para alojarse y huir de las zonas masificadas turísticas.

We loved exploring all the great areas in Barcelona. Just walking around and finding all of it is
what we loved about this city. This area was vibrant and interesting.

Mooie wijk. Licht en brede boulevards. Natuurlijk Gaudi’s gebouwen. Leuk om te bezoeken, afwisseling en goed bereikbaar met de verschillende metro lijnen

A somewhat monumental District with stunning architecture and many great cafes and restaurants. Well worth a visit and a stroll around.

Eixample occupies the central part of Barcelona on an impressive territory for the city. It is here that many sights of the first order are located, which are of main interest to tourists.

This is our favorite part of town. We would live here without a doubt. It is modern and elegant with everything one could need/want for a comfortable stay. It is very central to all city attractions and easy to get in and out of. We stayed in Eixample next to the top end of Las Ramblas for 2 weeks and were sad to go.

We didn't stay at those apartments, but we loved the L'Eixample district and found it a nice place to stay. It's about a 15 minute walk to Sagrada Familia, and we walked to just about everything else as well (we are good walkers). It's easy to get to Las Ramblas, but much quieter than that area.

Hello,
I am planning a trip to L'eixample with my younger brother/sister and mother. I was thinking of going to a nice, calm place area where a beach is accessible. I am planning to stay for four days and three nights. Also, I was hoping to have plane tickets at least £120pp (if that is doable).
I was wondering there are any beaches in L'eixample?
If not, which area would be best for my requirements?

I am afraid this district like many in Barcelona is hustle and bustle. Barcelona is a very busy city and not suitable for a beach holiday. May i suggest staying outside of Barcelona. Barcelona sits within the area of Costa Brava. Just over 1 hour travel from Barcelona you have Salou, Cambrills and other beach destinations. Happy holiday booking

hello we are going at the end of may and are staying at the Ayre Rosellon, just wondered if anyone could give any tips etc, also is the area ok to get along using english or do you have to be fairly fluent in spanish? any help appreciated thanks

The area is the Eixample, a good place to stay. Everyone in the tourist business today knows how to speak English, so you will not have aany problem.
The Passeig de Gracia is the most elegant avenue, with upscale stores. Good shopping streets downtown are Portal de l’Angel, Portaferrisa and Pelayo. Maremagnum is located by the port and is a mall that is open also on Sunday, when most shops are closed.
The most important sights are the Modernist sites, which are the Gaudi sites and the Lluis Domenech sites.
Prebook the Sagrada Familia Basilica, the Palau de la Musica Catalana, Park Guell and the Picasso Museum. A day trip to Montserrat is suggested.
New Modernist sites that opened since 2014 that are terrific:
1. Sant Pau Art Nouveau Site
2. Casa Lleo Morera
3. Casa Museu Amatller
The Museu del Modernisme Catalan (Calle Balmes, 48) is a small jewel of a museum, little known, but very worthwhile seeing.
Good restaurants in the Eixample:
1. El Nacional (Passeig de Gracia, 24) - A big building with a very beautiful and original interior design, with 5 restaurants and one long bar. Moderately priced.
2. Palmera (Enric Granados, 57) - A small family run restaurant with a very good tasting menu.
3. Tenorio (Passeig de Gracia, 37) - A large attractive restaurant that is moderately priced.
4. La Rita (Arago, 279) - An attractive restaurant with an inexpensive menu of the day. Great food.
5. Cerveseria Catalana (Mallorca, 236) - Very good tapas place.
*Enric Rosich Macarons (Passeig de Gracia, 53) has the best macarons.

About 20 minutes by bus. I didn't walk as it was extremely hot while I was there but I would estimate it would be about a 45 minute walk, this area is not close to the beach.
