The Chiesa di San Giacomo is located in Piazza Matteotti. Built in the 16th century, the church is, like the Duomo in Udine, in the Baroque style and has a whitewashed front façade with a central bell tower. The top of the bell tower is decorated with some shell reliefs and a bronze clock face.
The Baroque design continues inside the church and there are a number of frescoes, sculptures and paintings.
It was originally a relatively small chapel - hard to imagine when you look at the imposing building today! If you want to admire the religious artwork, you should find out in advance about the sometimes limited opening hours of the church.
Notable works include the Virgin and Saint Apollonia by Griffoni and the Virgin Surrounded by Saints by Carneo.
This church is truly beautiful.

Commissioned by the rich brotherhood of furriers (1401), it was built in a place where executions of criminals took place, initially as a small chapel, then after a century they rebuilt the façade by adding the clock tower, on the balcony there is the statue of the Madonna with child, unfortunately I have not seen the interior.

The Chiesa di San Giacomo Apostolo or Church of San Giacomo is a beautiful church in the city center of Udine. Admission is free, it is open daily from 8:00 to 12:00 plus Monday to Friday from 16:00 to 18:00.

Piazza San Giacomo is the best square in Udine, worth a five point rating in its own right (see my review), it is the outdoor living room of Udine, but the crown of this Piazza goes to the magnificent 16th century church, Chiesa di San Giacomo Apostolo, tucked away in the corner of the square. However, this church is closed between 12.00 and 16.00, to be taken into account when planning a visit. Pictures say more than a thousand words. I will add some to this review, an easy five point rating.

Chiesa molto particolare che sorge sul limitare di Piazza Matteotti, la sua stranezza è la architettura che la divisa in due navate indipendenti con due atzari maggiori. Lo stile interno è barocco

The whole of the church of San Giacomo and the "Cappella delle anime purganti" (Chapel of the souls in purgatory; on the right looking at the facade of the church) is in my view one of the noblest views in the city of Udine.
In fact, the Piazza Matteotti, on which the two buildings overlook, already has a noble appearance, made even more captivating by the intense attendance by the population. Within the square, then, the white complex (for the building material used, the "Istrian stone") of the church and chapel, attracts the eye and introduces a note of further elegance.
It should be noted that the facade of the chapel, despite being two centuries later than the facade of the church (1745 versus 1530 ca), was conceived in total harmony with the latter.
The feeling of elegance continues if you enter the two buildings; the interiors in fact, despite the transformation of the church in Baroque style compared to the original Gothic architecture, are equally pleasant, and rich in works of art.

edificio di culto rinascimentale , modesto ma elegante ed originale. gli esterni sono in pietra bianca , mentre all'interno lo stile è barocco

Nach einer Stärkung im nahen Cafe, haben wir diese große Kirche besichtigt. Im Stile des Barocks. Aber daneben ist das Baptisterium. Dies sollte man unbedingt ansehen. Dort gibt es mehrere Räume mit einem engen Durchgang. Pure Roamnik. Sehr schöne Ausstellungsgegenstände!

Quello che stupisce di questa chiesa è, innanzi tutto, la sua facciata, completamente asimmetrica. Guardandola, si osserva che la metà sinistra è sormontata da un fregio (non so se si chiami così) triangolare con una torretta mentre invece sulla metà destra ci sono delle statue. A prima vista neanche sembra un edificio unico; si scopre che tale è perché ci sono due porte di ingresso. Anche l'interno sembra costituito da due chiese distinte perché c'è un muro divisorio tra le due parti.

Ich hätte gerne die Altäre mit ihren Heiligenfiguren erklärt bekommen, auch die beiden Heiligen am Hauptaltar und zwar der hlg. Jakob und der Zweite? wäre sehr dankbar da ich relativ oft in dieser Kirche bin.
