Es empfiehlt sich, zu Randzeiten anzureisen, wenn man den grössten Gästegruppen ausweichen möchte. Dear chai44 Thank you for your request and your interest in Mount Rigi. We are happy to help you plan your visit to Mount Rigi. 1. Tickets can be purchased at the tourist info at the main train station as well as at the travel agency from SBB (Swiss Train Company). You can also buy tickets online, at the counter next to the valley stations or even with our staff on the train. 2. Parking fee is CHF 8.-- per day. 3. Rigi Kulm is the very top of the mountain. From the train station to the summit it is about 10 min. to walk but worth it, you will have stunning views over entire Switzerland with its alpine peaks, lakes and landscapes. 4. The same cogwheel train from Vitznau to Rigi Kulm will take you down to Vitznau again. From Vitznau the train runs every hour at xx.15 starting from 8.15 am, and from Rigi Kulm to Vitznau at every full hour xx.00, the last train is at 5 pm. 5. If you like to go to the Mineralbath & Spa, just hop off the train at station Rigi Kaltbad, which is a middle station on the way to Rigi Kulm or Vitznau. After the bath, just hop on the cogwheel again. 6. The Mount Rigi day pass covers all rides and you can hop on and off as many times as you wish during one entire day. Hello Emily B, thank you for your interest in Mount Rigi. It is indeed possible to hike all the way down to either Weggis or Vitznau. From Rigi Kulm you hike at first to Rigi Kaltbad and from there you follow the signs in direction Weggis or Vitznau. Please be aware that the hike from Rigi Kulm to Rigi Kaltbad is already about 1,5 hours depending on the route you choose and from Rigi Kaltbad to the valley it is an another 2 hours hike. If you like to avoid the cable car from Rigi Kaltbad to Weggis you can either hike, as suggested above, or take the cogwheel from Rigi Kaltbad to Vitznau. Dear Mick, as you are based in Weggis I recommend to take the cable car from Weggis to Rigi Kaltbad. Rigi Kaltbad is a middle station and a perfect departure spot for many hikes, easy to difficult ones. One of our favourite is the hike from Rigi Kaltbad to the sightseeing point Känzeli and from there to Rigi Staffel or further to Rigi Kulm (summit). At these station you can easily hop on our cogwheel train that will take you back to Rigi Kaltbad from where you return to Weggis. This round hike takes about 2 hours and is not very challenging, just make sure you wear suitable shoeware. If you like more details please do not hesitate to contact us directly at welcome@rigi.ch. Hi nolegroomrg, if the railway day pass covers the "GA-Streckenbereich", which is similar to the Swiss Travel Pass, it includes most means of transport, also the train from Zurich to Goldau.
