Amazing food hall in the heart of Rotterdam, so much choice and good foods to choose from. This is one of the coolest food halls in Europe , check out the Duck Truck, that place does burgers which are out of this world. Server was a bit prickly but food was amazing.

Is erg fascinerend met zijn merkwaardige architectuur. Heeft de vorm van Nederlandse kaas. Er zijn diverse eet tenten van verschillenden landen . Je hebt gevarieerd keuze aan makkelijk hapje eten. Was ik heel mooi aan het gebouw vind Is zijn hele hoge kleur rijke plafond. Er zijn schilderingen van prachtige bloemen en rupsen, vlinders te zien. Is absoluut must see point.

This is such a cool looking building from the outside, which is stuffed to the gills with food outlets on the inside. We decided on the ‘Saigon Caphe’ restaurant, mainly because you could eat in and there was plenty of space. There seemed to be few attentive waiters and so we opted to place our orders online instead. I went for the lunch special for €14.90 consisting of a (No.10) Lemongrass Chicken Curry with Rice (the best dish by far!) for my main dish and (No.22) Chicken Spring Rolls as a side. My wife had the (No.105) Grilled Chicken Salad Roll as a starter and the (No.124) Vietnamese Chicken Salad as her main dish. The total bill with drinks came to €38.60, which seemed reasonable. Although the food wasn’t particularly exciting it wasn’t too bad either in an otherwise bland uninspiring but relatively quiet environment compared to the hustle and bustle of the food court itself.

After or before you visit the Cube House Museum, it is just a rather short walk over to Markthal. It is a very unique building that is like an upside down u-shape with brightly colored murals overhead of different types of colorful fruits and vegetables as well as food items that surround you while walking around this building to visit the different types of food merchants and restaurants. Quite an assortment of various eateries to choose from and many have an outdoor seating also. Definitely worth a stop over when you are visiting Rotterdam.

C’est grand, c’est beau, on peut s’y asseoir mais pas toujours.
Cela manque peut-être un peu de diversité.
Il y a beaucoup de travail sur la décoration notamment des terrasses. C’est agréable.
Côté prix, prenez le temps de comparer. Ça vaut parfois le coup de s’y attarder.
Le lieu est une œuvre d’art à lui seul.

Maestoso e avveniristico edificio con un'originale volta colorata che è nello stesso tempo un mercato coperto con ristoranti e negozi alimentari da tutto il mondo e un insieme di appartamenti e attività commerciali in pieno centro di Rotterdam con un immenso parcheggio nel sotterraneo. Da vedere.

De architectuur is prachtig, alleen daarom al een bezoek waard. Maar, als je binnen bent krijg je te maken met smalle gangpaden en vooral drukte. Wij waren hier op een zaterdag, misschien drukker dan op andere dagen. Je kunt overal drinken en eten. We hebben het nu gezien, een tweede keer hoeft niet.

According to the official Markthal website, dogs are allowed, but "they must be kept on a leash, and are the responsibility of the person controlling them". When we were there I didn't see any dogs in the Markthal, and I think that unless the dog is very well-behaved, it might be difficult to control a large dog considering the tempting variety of foods displayed within a short reach!

We are planning a trip to the Netherlands. Amsterdam and the Hsgue
definitely seemed worth a visit but from the things that I’ve seen written about Rotterdam I suspect we could skip that and not miss a whole lot. What do you think?

First of all, Amsterdam is a must see/visit, but it does not represent The Netherlands, The Hague on the other hand has the government buildings but besides that “not much to offer” for sightseeing; whereas other smaller cities like Delft or Leiden in the area still have the “old” feeling of how Holland was hundreds of years ago.
Rotterdam is great city, basically totally rebuilt after WO ll. Typical tourist area worth visiting is Voldendam / Marken.
But then again, any place visiting depends on the weather! Without rain it all be nice and people will treat you friendly and in English anywhere.

It is 2.2km walk. If you have the time: join the views of/from the Erasmusbrug and Leuvenhaven #Recommended
Terminal -> Erasmusbrug -> straight to Leuvenhaven -> right on Blaak -> Markthal
