Amando l'art nouveau, che peraltro a Bruxelles si può trovare in piccole dosi un po' ovunque, una visita alla casa di Victor Horta per me e mia moglie è stata quasi d'obbligo, nella nostra gita a Bruxelles. Già a vedere la facciata le nostre aspettative erano subito alte, ma entrando ci siamo ritrovati davanti a un vero splendore. L'allestimento, i pannelli che descrivevano la vita e il lavoro di Horta già erano interessanti di loro, ma erano comunque il meno: il vero spettacolo era l'architettura, che la rende una casa dei sogni a tutti gli effetti.
Forse il suo unico problema, se così si può chiamare, è la sua posizione, un po' lontanuccia dal centro storico di Bruxelles e dai suoi monumenti e musei principali. Ma non è un problema che dovrebbe scoraggiare. Per quanto mi riguarda, la Maison Horta è comunque un luogo imprescindibile, se si amano la bella arte e la bella cultura!

My Belgium- Brussels long term friend suggested that we visit knowing that I enjoyed the Art Nouveau Period. I purchased timed and dated tickets on their website from the USA along with a combined visit to the Hannon House to follow- a short walking distance nearby. We visited in September of 2023. This is a self-guided tour of 5- floors of living space with original l furnishings. On the day of my visit the grand room was open to the rear garden that clearly showed that the beauty inside flows to the outside as well. The kitchen, bedrooms, dining rooms, bathrooms, window placements, greenhouse, along with period Imani pottery, wall of Delft tiles, and original furnishings were highlights. The number of visitors is limited so you can walk with ease and at leisure throughout the house. I would plan on spending about 1 hour in the house to appreciate its beauty. I would recommend reading about Victor Horta on the House website prior to your visits so you can just sit back and take in the visual beauty of this Art Nouveau Home.

This was a bucket-list item for us and is a must-see for Art Nouveau fans. The house is beautifully maintained and restored, with signs providing interesting background about individual features. Our arrival was delayed and I am delighted to share that the staff were very gracious and accommodating in allowing us to enter almost an hour late. Our only disappointment was that no photos are allowed.

Museo da vedere. Si visita l'abitazione di Horta che è stata restaurata recentemente. È possibile vedere come era organizzata una casa signorile di inizio '900. Alcune stanze sono davvero affascinanti. Ricordatevi che è necessario prenotare almeno con 12 ore di anticipo.

Ένα πολύ όμορφο αρτ νουβώ μουσείο, το σπίτι του Horta. Για να μπεις πρέπει να κλείσεις από πριν ηλεκτρονικό εισιτήριο, αρκετά ακριβό σε σχέση με το μέγεθος του μουσείου. Αξίζει να το επισκεφτείτε. Παρόλα αυτά θα αναφέρω ότι δεν ήταν πολύ ευγενικό το προσωπικό του μουσείου καθώς και ότι δεν μου έδωσαν οδηγίες-χάρτη για να το δω. Να ζητήσετε οδηγίες ή χάρτη για το πώς θα το δείτε. Επίσης το κινητό επιτρέπεται ελάχιστες μέρες τον μήνα, οπότε δεν μπόρεσα να βγάλω φωτογραφίες από το εσωτερικό.

C'est une maison très jolie, un classique de l'art nouveau. L'exposition est très explicite, on peut y apprendre beaucoup. Toute la maison est ouverte au publique, ce qui n'est pas le cas de certaines autres maisons d'art nouveau à Bruxelles.
Il faut reserver en avance, 2-3 jours suffit, sinon vous risquez de ne pas entrer là-dedans.
Les photos ne sont pas authorisées à l'intérieur.
Un seul bémole c'est le personnel à l'acceuil qui est un peu arrogant.

Ce musée, cette maison est un vrai bijou ! Tout est accessible et très concret. On se balade dans cette maison somptueuse d'ingéniosité et de finesse. Les explications sont claires et utiles, tout est très bien organisé et les équipes sur place sont vraiment sympathique.

Le Musée Horta est une très belle batisse. Plus on s'élève dans les étages, plus on découvre la beauté de chaque pièce. Elle vaut le détour.

Magnifique maison Arts nouveaux. On visite toute la maison, magnifique !
Attention il faut réserver AVANT, sinon vous ne passerez pas le seuil.

We are only in Brussels for a few hours and I’m dying to see Victor Hortas museum! However, my husband will not be happy if we spend and hour of the few precious hours we have in Brussels queuing up in get in the museum. What is the best time of day to go to have the shortest queue?

Dear Joanna, Hortas museum is only open from 2 to 5:30pm Tuesdays to Sundays, so you don't have much option to time your visit. We went in Feb (low season), and arrived shortly before 2pm. We didn't wait long to get in.
After saying that, if I were you, I would not go. Since you are only in Brussels for a few hours not a few days, it is best to stay in town centre. Hortas musuem is outside of the town centre, and you need to take a bus back and forth which would eat up your time. There are plenty of Art Nouveau buildings to see in Towncentre, including Music Instruments Musuem which has a restaurant on top. This is also next to the Musée Fin-de-Siècle Museum -dedicating to Art Nouveau. Both would be a lot more convenient for your visit.
Honestly, Brussels is a city best enjoyed strolling around leisurely, soaking up the atmosphere, tasting their comfort food, window shopping through endless alleys of tempting chocolate and pastry shops and breweries. It is a city to experience its relaxed charm and not a city for "must see" tourist attractions hopping.
As much as I have enjoyed Horta Museum, we went only because we were in Brussels for 4 days.

We will arrive from Brugge by train to visit the museum, then we continue to Brussels airport same day. At which railway station will we arrive from Brugge and what is the best way to get from that railway station to the museum and then to the airport?
