This is just a tram/metro system so not a regular attraction more of a convenience. However there are parts with great nature content, mainly no 1 that goes up all the way to Frognerseteren (don't miss the restaurant). This is the line we tried, there may be other parts with views.

Une gigantesque halle contient différents modèles de tram, trolley bus et métro dans lesquels on peut monter, toucher etc. Vraiment sympa ! À faire avec des enfants aussi

We used it numerous times during our splendid visit to the city.
Very convenient for getting to Holmenkollen for the Ski Jump and then later to terminus at Frognerseteren that is across the road from interesting Roseslottet.
Some evenings post dinner we enjoyed trips on Lines 5 to Vestli and 3 to Kolsas. Great way to see the wooded suburbs, all for the price of a ticket that's valid for 90 minutes.

Sporveien is the operators on the "T-banen" in Oslo. They operate for the company Ruter. I take this train very often and it is comfortable and very cheap.

Oslo subway. Nothing special. Modern, well organized, respects the traffic schedule, clean. It circulates both underground and on the surface, on very long sections.

Kommer til tiden. behagelig komfort. God oplevelse. Anbefaling: tage nr 1 til Frognerseteren. Bare nyd turen og udsigten. Tag med ned igen eller evt gå noget af vejen og stig på et andet sted.

The various public transport systems in and around Oslo are all operated by different companies with no interchangeable ticketing, which makes travel awkward as a tourist as each company has different rules. Most seem to work via apps and paper tickets can be tricky to find. Don’t assume that you can buy tickets in stations! Really. Fine for locals but tourist-unfriendly.

Ett alldeles utmärkt sätt att förflytta sig inom staden men åxxå perfekt att få känna på och bilda sig en uppfattning om staden och dess närområden och med Holmenkollen som pricken över i*et. Prisvärt, Rena vagnar, Tryggt och Tåg som hållet tidtabellen.

Hello
I will be traveling to Oslo Norway this August
does anyone know the best way to travel from the airport to the city? I have a long layover and would like to walk around the main town maybe grab a drink, does anyone have any recommendations?
Besides taxi that is.

Hi,
You have two train options. The airport train makes only one stop before Oslo from the airport and has space for luggage. The local train is cheaper and makes a couple of stops and when I took it, had no storage space for luggage.
Either option is very easy and gets you there within 30 mins I seem to remember. Get off at Oslo S for shopping or to take two metro stops to Munch museum; get off at Nationaltheateret to go to the wharf area with lots of restaurants, to see the castle or walk to the national gallery or museum of History (viking stuff). Enjoy your layover.
