I took my 11yr old daughter as we are currently doing a project on the Romans. The museum was free and absolutely fantastic - the range of items they had were great. We really enjoyed seeing the Roman inspired garden too and learning about the soldiers lives in the barracks room.
We also visited the fortress wall, the barracks site, the baths and the Amphitheatre which are all a short walk from eachother. I was amazed at how well preserved it all is. It's worth checking before visiting as the Amphitheatre gets closed during wet weather - it was worth delaying our visit by a couple of days to get to see it.

A truly amazing experience! So much history & knowledge. Friendly & helpful staff - very informative. For anyone interested in history and in particular the Romans I would highly recommed a visit.

The Baths museum was great. Good size for small kids not to get bored but plenty of information for the adults and very interesting.

The Roman Baths were the highlight for me. Only £5 to go in so low expectations. But a really well thought out visitor experience. I won't say much about what goes on inside - but they really do give you an absorbing insight to life in Roman wales. We were delighted.

The Roman Baths in Caerleon are run by CADW and are separate from the Roman Legion Museum, which are run by the Welsh National Museum. Your entrance fee includes a compact, very good comic-style brochure that relates the history of the fortress, baths and amphitheatre. The museum is a large hall covering what was the outdoor swimming pool, the changing room and part of the sauna and cold plunge baths. Rippling lights shine on the pool to depict water.
Around the side of the pool and other remains are exhibits such as a model of the complete complex including gymnasium for boxing, wrestling, weight training and games.
Other exhibits include reconstructions of footwear, accessories and a shield, for example. There are plenty of printed information board and a few audio information points as well as a couple of screen quizzes aimed at children but fun for adults, too.
This is a fantastic museum that deserves a higher profile. Please note, there are no toilets here (a strange shortcoming) and, despite the teacup symbol on the board outside, no café.
You can reach Caerleon by public transport, taking a train to either Newport or Cwmbran, then bus 27, 29 or 29a and I understand there's a number 60, too.

Go on a clear day and enjoy climbing the ancient steps to the floor of the amphitheater. Museum has lots of display cases and some recreated rooms of a soldier's life

After a disappointing visit to the museum gallery at St Fagans, where not a lot of archaeological material was displayed, I was extremely impressed by the Caerleon
Roman Museum. Wonderful display of artefacts along with details of where found and their use. The Baths were great - again an imiaginative way of displaying usage with projected Roman swimmers. The Barracks were not so impressively displayed but the amphitheatre was well looked after. A great day at Caerleon and learnt a lot about
the Roman Legions!

5pound but less display than my expectation, however, the rest of three venue also interesting that good for group together to visit this historical place in Caerleon

Fascinating area with Roman Baths, round the corner the Museum. Then a further short walk to the remains of the Roman Amphitheatre and then onto the ruins of the Roman Barracks.
