Arranged for us by our excellent local Landlord at Le Chene Plat, this was one of those delightful champagne experiences which we otherwise may have missed. We did the whole experience with the matriarch of the house, Terese in our best French as her son was knocking down a wall! It was special. A tour around an unbelievable underground cellar system deep under the village, a leisurely tasting and history lesson of the House, including 'photo's and proud demonstration of their standing in a leading (english) wine magazine. Excellent Champagne at a price comparable with most independent producers in the area. We all bought some.
The tour includes narrow, steep but safe stairs and I would advise booking if possible. The House is located in the village center on the main road (D1), to the left as you enter from the East.

This is a small champagne house in the village of Cumieres, but well worth a visit. It is family owned and we were lucky enough to be shown around by the lovely Terese who told us all about the place and the family history especially during the 2nd world war. The tunnels and caves where the champagne is kept are very old and extensive and is accessed by a narrow staircase. The tasting is free, but I highly recommend that you buy some of their lovely champagne as it is excellent.
