We had a simply amazing trip in the Dolomites with Gary, Katarina and Timka. The mountains and rivers and waterfalls and trails and quaint little towns are simply stunning; it is a unique place on this earth. Gary and Katarina have lived in this area for eons and they know the towns, trails, and trams like the back of their hands. Everyday we went to a different area and felt like we were seeing different things and having different experiences, even though within the same Dolomites. If you haven't seen this area before - you really need to!
They are all three just super nice people. When we first arrived, two van loads of people unloaded from the prior trip. They were all hugging Gary and clearly everyone was very connected and happy - yet sad to be leaving. We wondered if we would feel quite the same way when we left, but I'm happy to report that we did also! They truly felt like extended family by the time we left.
As for experience, Gary continued to entertain and enthrall us with stories of his hiking and climbing adventures. He is extremely experienced and understands what the weather may (and may not ) allow for. We always felt 100% safe with him, but every day he would really try to understand what the variable weather in the Dolomites would best allow us to do and enjoy for that day.
As for logistics, they provided all the hiking poles we needed, they shuttled the vans to be in the right places and everything felt very dialed in, even when we were adjusting plans to the weather.
And the hotel where we stayed was heavenly. Their spa area with different pools, ice plunge, saunas and a steam room were a treat to look forward to after a day of adventuring. And the dinners (and breakfasts) that were laid out for us all were simply staggering in their variety and quality. It was top-notch accommodations.
As for the other people on our tour, we were blessed to also have other couples who were just terrific people and we greatly enjoyed our companions, with many laughs and great conversations.
In short, it we had a fabulous trip to see amazing scenery, in the company of excellent guides (and human beings) and new friends.

We had high hopes for the Croatia and Slovenia Walking Tour, but they were unmet. Our fellow participants were fun to be with. The accommodations were good, but the content of the tour--what we were promised vs. what was delivered--left much to be desired. --Rovinj: Wonderful accommodations. Good restaurant recommendation from Gary. The guide for the tour of Rovinj was boring and quickly lost the group's interest. --Pula: Gary barely broke stride while giving us a tour of Pula (and as a result, one of the participants was left behind and lost). It was too fast, and when asked questions, Gary had few answers. --Plitvica: Gary was in his element--hiking--and we all had a good time. --Ljubljana: We were supposed to spend the night in Ljubljana, something Gary confirmed on the first night of the tour, but he suddenly changed his mind and told us we would spend two nights in Bled. This was disappointing. Gary added to our disappointment when he led us on a non-stop 30-minute tour of the town without any history or context of what we were seeing. At the end of this "tour" he said we could stay in Ljubljana and take a taxi to Bled. He offered no details on how to do this and quickly took off. --Bled: We had one good day of hiking and then were left on our own to sightsee. Heavy rain (101 mm/4 inches) was forecast for our second day in Bled, and despite a query to Gary about a backup plan, he had nothing to suggest. When the rain arrived, Gary dismissed the group's suggestion to return to Ljubljana and pressed on with hiking. He did not check to see if the park where the first hike was open, and we arrived to find it closed due to the weather. At the second hiking location, the group turned back after 15 minutes due to the pouring rain. We drove to Bohinj with nothing to do but stay in the hotel out of the rain. --Bohinj: Our time in Bohinj was washed out. No alternative activities were offered. It continued to rain, so the next morning, Gary finally suggested that we return to Ljubljana and arranged for a certified guide to give us a 60-minute tour. --Ljubljana: As soon as we arrived in town and the guide showed up, Gary said a quick goodbye and took off. He did not accompany us for the remainder of the day, make sure that we safely arrived at our accommodations in Smartno, or see us off the following morning. In my opinion, this is not what the responsible owner of a tour company should do. The woman who stepped in to finish the tour, Nezka was great. She took us to Predjama, home of a castle built into a cave, and then drove us to our accommodations in Smartno. From the beginning of the tour, Gary seemed to have checked out. This was the next-to-last tour of his 2024 season, and he seemed to be going through the motions. For the tour fee, we received transportation, accommodations, and two hikes. That's it. And that's not what we were sold or promised.

I’m so sorry it has taken me a while to reply to your review, I have been on my last tour of a very busy summer with a really fun and enthusiastic group of which 9 of the 10 have traveled with me before. Two couples on their second trip, another on their third and another couple on their third and they have already booked a fourth, and we have a single woman on her third trip with me - who said this was her best trip yet.
I am deeply sorry you did not have the experience you had hoped for.
To begin with I sincerely thank you for taking the time to write and let me know how your experience was. It is far from the usual fabulous experience 99% of our guests have with us which is no doubt why we have 40% returning guests and over 40% of referrals each year and are growing tremendously. So thank you for your comments which we will take to heart.
That said, thank you for entrusting me with your safety and care on this adventurous and complicated trip with many moving parts. I have read and re-read and digested each and everyone of your comments and am very disappointed we did not meet your expectations as our only goal is to provide a 5 star experience for all. With each comment I recognized your concern and will further improve my care and options for a small active group as I believe I did for the majority of the group, and provide options to meet anyones' individual's needs as I tried to do for all of you.
I do apologize if my communication with you had not been more clear. Since this is a group tour the guide always has to think of the group as a whole versus just an individual, and with inclement weather often our options are limited - especially the last few days when we were in the mountains. While some aspects of the tour met your expectations, such as the accommodations and the positive interactions with your fellow travelers, it’s clear that there were areas where I fell short - and yes I was probably a little tired since it was at the end of a very busy season. I deeply regret that these issues affected your experience and will work hard on improving what we do in the future. It didn’t help that I had a cracked tooth which really hurt my tongue when I spoke so no doubt that hindered my ability to communicate with you and the group more.
Please allow me to run through what you did experience on this tour and maybe it will bring back some nicer memories of all the things we did see and do.

* A nice drive along the Adriatic coast and ocean view rooms in Opatija.
* Two self guided coastal walk options along the Longamare in Opatija.
* Two guided walks through Plitvice National Park through the back-door.
* Two visits to Ljubljana including an hour guided city tour.
* A fabulous guided hike in Triglav National Park with perfect weather.
* Visiting the castle in Bled and a walk around lake Bled.
* A guided tour of Predjama Castle and the surrounding area.
* A stay at a seventh generation family run biodynamic winery.
* Enjoying awesome accommodation (according to the rest of the group).
* All with six individual guides during the eight day tour.

We had very high expectations for this trip to the Dolomites. Gary, Katarina and Timka were our guides from Right Path Adventures. They were spectular in every way. They exceeded all of our expectations. The incredible beauty of the Dolomites is hard to discern from reading or even seeing photos. It is SO MUCH more beautiful than any video on Youtube or elsewhere can prepare you for. Our group of 4 (melded into another small great group) all agreed that we have never seen anything more beautiful than the Dolomites. To be with such professional hiking guides who knew every trail and gondola and chairlift like the back of their hands was exhilerating. They were uncanny in understanding the nuances of the weather to make sure we were in "dry" areas even when other nearby areas had rainy conditions. We had a mixture of hiking experience in our group. Gary et al accomodated everyone's pace so the faster hikers could go preferred speed and the slower folks at a more relaxed rate. Gary Scott is the superlative lead guide. He knows the Dolomites inside and out. He also knows people extremely well and was fantastic at keeping everyone engaged and happy! Katarina was also a gem as was Timka. They really know how to make their guests feel good. Gary (and Katarina and Timka) all have very good senses of humor! My wife and I (and our two friends) highly recommend going anywhere with Gary, Katarina and Timka. We have other friends who referred us to Gary. They feel as positive as we do. You cannot go wrong with these incredible people of Right Path Adventures. Warren, San Francisco

While we happen to be an aging couple, we have no lack of hiking adventures and came across Gary Scott's Right Path Adventures some 10 years ago. Feeling it was the right fit with exciting day hikes along the Alta Badia side of the Dolomites, Gary was an awesome outfit of 1 providing all needs for gorgeous and at time vigorous adventures for small groups. While his experiences ranged from Australia to Nepal and Mount Everest (unfortunately, the invasion of Ukraine canceled that trip), he kept exploring and we joined him on the Alta Adagie, south Tyrol side of the Paso Val Gardena in the Dolomites just 3 weeks ago. Once again and joined by his family' the recommendations pre-, post- and during our adventures were spot on, fun, incredibly enjoyable (forests and manicured valleys, rugged mountains and spectacular views, charming villages and expanded trip ideas) and well valued. We sat in the evenings at our 3 and 4 star inns reminiscing and so please with the days choices. The lodging and food were great, transportation in a family van to the gondolas or trailhead was easy. The flexibility incorporated into his plans provides great experiences come rain or shine. We have already booked our next adventure with Gary to his new home and new adventure in Slovakia. More mountains (the Carpathian Tatras) huts, castles, small towns, spectacular scenery and challenging days with relaxing evenings, food experiences and all worked out for small groups with great value. He has added the Canary islands and working on other world sites. Gary is always accessible and easy to work with. We will book with the Right Path every time!

Our family of 4 (with boys aged 15 and 17) had an amazing trip with Gary, Katarina, and Timka. The Dolasilla hotel was a fabulous base of operations in La Villa and really exceeded our expectations. The food was excellent (and abundant) and we really enjoyed the pool and spa, and the staff were so kind and attentive The rooms were very comfortable, with incredible views of the mountains and valley through large windows. All aspects of the room were top-notch, from the bathroom to sheets. But of course, the highlight of the tour was the daily walks with Gary and team. We always started on time and ended when he predicted. His chosen walks gave us a lot of variety and options to challenge ourselves when we wanted. Gary was able to arrange a via ferrata for our family with another guide for an additional modest fee. Gary and team were so attentive to our needs, especially Katarina, and we appreciated their attention to safety, especially with our kids. The meals at the refugios were another highlight. Gary also provided great travel advice for before and after our tour with him. We loved Lake Garda and his recommendations were spot on.

A friend and I wanted to walk the Dolomites but didn't want to plan a refugio to refugio hike. The Right Path Adventures tour worked perfectly for us. We had an amazing trip with Gary, his wife Katarina, and daughter Timka. They were fun and informative guides and made the trip a wonderful experience. The group size is limited so we got to know everyone well. Every day was well-planned and executed. The hikes were fabulous and the accommodations were great. It was nice to come back to the same lovely hotel each night rather than packing and unpacking each day at a new accommodation. I can't recommend this trip highly enough. Just go!

By virtue of their comprehensive knowledge, our engaging and charismatic guides (Gary, Katarina and Timka) ably led our group through the awe-inspiring scenery of the Dolomites. Every detail of our journey, the hikes, accomodations and meals were thoughtfully planned and well executed. Five stars is not enough. GO!

Can’t thank Gary, Katarina and Timka of Right Path Adventures enough for an incredible five days of hiking in the Dolomites. From spectacular hikes in the mountains; to the quaint, boutique hotels; to the food of the region all came together to create a perfect vacation for our family of 3. All this is enabled by Gary Scott, his wife Katarina and daughter Timka. Gary is truly an expert guide and knows the trails, but more importantly knows how to treat people. He constantly led us to spectacular vistas and let people go at their own pace always offering technical guidance (how to use trekking poles, how to pace yourself, etc.) and encouragement. He takes care of every detail. Although some in the group would get ahead and others would be behind, we were never more than a minute or two from Gary or Katarina or Timka. We had 5 in our group (I think the max is 8) with 3 guides. Gary’s wife, Katarina, and daughter Timka were wonderful additions to the tour. Katarina is so warm, friendly, and optimistic. When anyone got a bit tired on the trail or needed a break, Katarina was there to provide a re-assuring hand and encouragement. We also hiked with Timka, a wonderful young woman who would generally lead the pack and bonded with the group as well. If you are looking for an incredible outdoor experience surrounded by natural beauty with expert guides who will treat you like family while you are with them, then check out Right Path Adventures.

We loved this trip- the sites, company, hiking, hotel, etc. My husband and I joined one of Right Path Adventures 5 day Dolomites treks. We have travelled a lot but have never done an organized tours and knew no one to start . So we were unsure what what we were getting into. Gary, his wife Katarina and daughter Timka checked out the group's abilities and set up a great program of hikes that delighted everyone, which made for a fun experience for all. The hotel we stayed at was beautifully situated and appointed, with top notch service. and great food.
We plan to check out other tours Gary & team lead. We'd even be happy to return to the Dolomites again.

My husband and I had a wonderful time on the walking tour of Croatia and Slovenia.
We saw so many beautiful areas, did plenty of walking, ate delicious food, drank awesome wines, and enjoyed how Gary took such good care of us.
If you ever want to go on a wonderfully guided trip to Croatia and Slovenia, I highly recommend Right Path Adventures.

We are planning on visiting dolomites around mid November. Could you please advise on weather conditions and which hiking tours could be done in this period.

Ciao Aditi, sorry if this is a repeat, I tried to answer you on my phone and maybe it did not go through. The Dolomites - like many summer and winter resort areas - closes down late September so in November nothing will be open, most towns are dead, and most hiking trails not really doable. Better to head south at that time of year and come back to the Dolomites mid-June through mid-September.

Hello, please check our website for more details, dates and availability - our regular five day (one day travel) Dolomite tours cost $2,995 per person (an no single supplement so you get your own room with attached bath at no additional cost), but we could do a pro-rated rate for four days. Hello Shellie, it depends on the number of people and exactly what you want to do with your day and if you wanted just a driving tour or to do some walking in the Dolomites as well. We only do private tours which would start at 500 euros per day for 8 hours round trip Venice to Venice. ciao, Gary
