Vi synes bestemt det var en fantastisk tidsrejse, bare det at høre om selve minedriften. Seværdigheden er på UNESCO som noget særligt og dokumenteret.
Vi tog turen ned i minen, og det var meget spændende, at køre i mine toget samt gå rundt i gangene. Vores guide var nem at forstå. Jeg og min kone taler og forstår tysk godt.
Tak for en super gennemgang. Vi kommer gerne igen og ser resten👍😊

Absolut interessante und informative Führung, auch für kleinere Kinder geeignet. Wir haben 2 Führungen mitgemacht, Röderstollen und die Bahnfahrt. War ein perfekter Nachmittag.

Besuch des Roederstollens (11.10.22 - 14:00) hat unsere Erwartung voll übertroffen. Sehr kompetente Führung und viele Details und Information zur Erzabbaugeschichte in Goslar. Hervorragend!

Wir haben die stündige Führung beginnend mit der Fahrt mit der Grubenbahn gemacht. Interessant und eindrücklich; ist auch für Kinder geeignet, da unser Führer viel erklärte und die Kinder mitmachen konnten.

Eine Besichtigung am besten mit einer der angebotenen Führungen lohnt sich sehr.
Unser Führer war ein echter Bergbauexperte. Würde das bei einem Besuch in Goslar immer wieder machen.

I'm divided about this place, mainly because I don't feel that the museum knows what to focus on - the mine or everything around the mine. With this I mean that the mine, the machines, the buildings are more or less totally ignored. No signs in English but a few in German. But most displays and signs (in German) explains about the displays, which has little to do with the actaul mine, but are put in the room. The only way to learn something about the mine is to go on a guided tour. But due to the aftermath of covid, the tours advertised to be bookable in English are not operational. You can only join a german tour and make the best of it. This also shows the biggest problem with this site - the lack or signs in any other langauge than German. It would have helped sooooo much. Improvment that needs to be done is:
1. Signs in English where therea are signs i German
2. Signs at all explaining the mining equipment left behind.
3. Get the english guided tours running again. At my tour 20% of the guests where not German speaking...
But you should still visit this place. It looks amazing from the outside and it is interesting to go into the mine even if you don't understand what they are saying.

Ganske ringe formidling, hvis man ikke er flydende i tysk. Indgangsskiltene til de enkelte museums rum var på engelsk. Alt andet - ca 95% af al skiltning var udelukkende på tysk. Vi havde ikke tid til en tur i minen (hvilket også ville have været på tysk). Men det at gå gennem de enkelte udstillingshaller - var totalt uinteresant, og helt spild af tid.

We booked this mine tour for 3:00 pm as all other slots were full. Unfortunately, the ticket cashier neglected to tell us that it would be German speaking only. She knew we were English when we asked for tickets. The guide noticed , once we got underground and out of the train that we couldn’t understand so he explained a little in English and then said if we came back the next day( the day we were departing) for 9:45 that we would hear it all in English. One of our friends did bring the matter up upon our departure from the building but it was kind of laughed at. I do think that staff should make people aware of the English and German speaking times.

This is definitely worth a visit even if you have not booked a tour. I was frustrated by the lack of English language tours available during our stay (at least from what you can see on their website). The website encourages you to book in advance but then provides little information on how to do that or what the options are! We decided to just show up and see whatever we could see, and I am glad we did so. Once we got there and were able to speak to people at the ticket desk, we learned of a short upcoming tour that would at least introduce us to the basics of the place. It was not billed as English language but one of us speaks a little German and we booked it more for the opportunity to go up the hill in the lift that mining workers used to use. It turned out that we were the only ones on the tour and the tour guide did speak English well enough for us to have an English language tour even though it was not billed as that (and she modestly denied being able to speak English well even though it was perfectly good). It was very interesting and the guide was so informative and kind it made the visit all the more enjoyable. We also took in the museum while there, and it is well laid out and interesting. Some of the panels provide English translations, some only German, but there is enough in English that you learn a lot. When in doubt, just use one of the translation apps (that can be put on a phone) to translate the wall text. Overall, this place is well worth a visit, but it would improve the place if they had more English language guided tours (even an audio guide would help). We got lucky that someone who speaks English was available, but it would have helped to have been able to book this in advance to be more confident that it would be available upon arrival. The staff at the desk said that tours have been reduced due to COVID, but that should not prevent them from providing audio guides in various languages (as do many other museums even during the pandemic).

The mine trainride and guided tour was OK, but the museum was terrible. Mostly the text at the museum was only in German. Some installations was taken down. Not a place to bring kids.

Hvordan booker man en dansk guide tur. Vi er 4 ps men de 3 er ikke med på det tyske sprog og engelsk er kun i weekenden som jeg har kunne læse mig frem til..?
Hvor gammel skal man være for at tage med. Kan vores datter på 3 år tager med. Og hvorlang tid skal man sætte af til besøget.

I intend to do a tour to the mine with my parents-in-law. How much walking/hiking is involved? I'm wondering if it is doable for them.

We took the "railway" tour, and there was very little walking involved. No hiking at all. (We were there with very young kids.) You board a train like the one the miners were using (have to bend a bit to get in the wagon), 5 min ride, then walk a little inside the mine to see the machinery they used back when the mine was in function. The ground can be damp/wet, so better wear shoes (not sandals). Tour lasted 1 hr, very instructive, unfortunately in German only.

Hi. it takes at least a half day. One whole day could be spent there with all three guided tours. And there is a good restaurant for lunch.

I do not intend going down the mine itself and I ask whether the mine museum is far from the mine so I can browse there whilst others go down the mine. Is this possible ?

Yes, the mine and the museum are in exactly the same place - well, maybe twenty feet apart!
