What a lovely day out at their Festive Fayre! What a well organised event & wonderful stalls full of gifts & Christmas decorations. We went last year 2022, & we enjoyed that too, however this year they rejigged the layout with a food area in what I presume used to be the stables courtyard, & the gift tents were on the lawn. So much better & easier to get around. Well done!
The staff were so friendly & what a glorious choir singing live in the house, all listened to with a warm mince pie & a glass of mulled wine. A perfect way to get into the Christmas mood. Full marks to the team!

Visited on a very wet and rainy day. On arrival, we paid the car park charge of £5, and decided we would first go to the cafe for some breakfast. As the weather was shocking, we made our way inside, but we're abruptly stopped by a woman on reception. She asked if we were NT members, to which we replied No. She then said that we would have to pay £18 entrance fee. We explained that we had no intention of walking around the house as we had seen it all before, and that we just wanted to get something to eat from the cafe, which was literally 10ft away, but she insisted that we still pay the entrance fee. We decided to go back outside and grab some food from the cafe side window to eat back at the car. On arrival at the side window, the young lad who was serving informed us that there was a limited menu, and they only have pasties, cakes, and crisps. He also apologised about the charge for eating inside the cafe, and informed us that they lose a lot of customers because of this. He then recommended a nice little shop located in the town a short walk away where we could get some food. As the rain had eased, we decided to walk into town and get something from the shop he recommended.
When we returned to the park, we had a nice walk around the estate photographing the deer. We even had some that came within a few feet from us, which was a fantastic experience. After spending a few hours exploring the park, we headed back to the car for a flask of tea and some sandwiches. Whilst we were having our sandwiches, we were joined by one the the resident squirrels, and a Robin. We were really enjoying our lunch, until a bloke decided to urinate into a nearby bush close to where we were parked. We couldn't believe he was doing this as there were children around, and the public toilets were right near to where he was urinating, which were free to use by the way.

We do enjoy visiting the park, but charging people £9 each to sit inside the cafe really needs to change. I'm guessing that if we did pay the entrance fee, it wouldn't have been refunded due to us not buying any food because of the limited options on the menu.

SORT THIS OUT NT, AND STOP TRYING TO ROB PEOPLE!

It’s well worth the steep walk up through the trees to Dinefwr Castle The walk itself is beautiful and you are rewarded by entering an interesting stronghold where you can see outlines of where the nobility used to live. The secure hand rails around certain areas enable one to walk above and around parts of the court yard to the the round tower and also to attempt the steep stairs up to the tallest tower where you can truly enjoy the fantastic views that surround the monument and catch a glimpse of Dryslwyn Castle with Paxton Tower clear in the distance.
Luckily two of us were members of the National Trust and so didn’t have to pay the £5 car parking fee.
Sadly one one of us was not a member which meant that he would have to pay the house entrance fee of £9 to access the cafe. At that point we left without the lunch that we had anticipated. Dyna drueni, what a shame.

Visited on a damp day the house itself was very basic and run down lots of areas in need of repair tea room was nice wife loved her luxury hot chocolate, staff very friendly and tried to liven things up with some story telling, interesting history and displays, big grounds to walk around but hightlight for us was the walk up to the ruins of the castle you can see why it was built there the views even on a cloudy day simply stunning we are members so free, not sure it's worth the entry fee just for the house.

A very interesting house and also a castle in the grounds, so 2 for the price of one. The castle is a good hike distance from the castle but worth the effort.
Everything was good except for the bugbear of most NT properties a poorly run tea room. A queue to be served and items not available because they hadn’t been defrosted yet!

We visited on our way home from Tenby as NT members. Had lunch in the cafe which was really nice and the staff so helpful and friendly.

We had a look around thr house and formal gardens. The staff here are amazing. Especially Nigal who was really helpful in showing us some interesting areas and paintings. He was really engaging with my 7 year old daughter who is normally quite shy but she was more then happy to chat away to him 😊 it really made our visit! She was told to write a letter and post it to the fairies on her way out which she did and loved doing! It's all she could talk about driving home.
We'll definitely visit again on our way back down to South Wales next time so we can explore the grounds more

On holiday in the area so decided to visit with our dog. On arrival, the lovely lady at the entrance of the car park explained where we could park with our blue badge and how to scan our NT membership card for the car parking ticket. The house itself was lovely and it was so nice to be able to take our dog into the property (downstairs only). We sat outside of the cafe and ordered our drinks at a service window - the Server was very friendly and polite.
The interior of the house was very impressive and it was lovely to hear a young girl playing the harp in one of the rooms. All in all it was a very pleasant couple of hours spent in a beautiful NT property.

Dinefwr is a gem in the county of Carmarthenshire and a MUST SEE. The neo-gothic exterior of the house hides a past which dates back to Stuart times, and its history is fascinating. The house (called Newton after the town on which it was built) has three floors open to the public and although very little remains from its original owners is tastefully decorated with Victorian period furniture and Welsh china.
The ground floor is dedicated to the family's living rooms and consists of their Dining Room and Drawing Room. In both these rooms the walls are adorned with original portraits of the family, and the furniture is consistent with their uses. The first floor appears to be used for exhibits. Of particular interest was the craft room which showed how the Trust had set about restoring the house after years of neglect by various owners from its initial sale in the 70's to the National Trust purchasing it in the 90's. The basement as you can imaging showed how the servants lived their lives. One place which cannot be missed is the tea room which has a range of delectable cakes, tasty sandwiches and hot drinks
The lack of extensive formal gardens may disappoint some people, but understandable when you are told by the guides that it occurred in the 18th Century under the advice of Capability Brown. Going through the grounds are several walks which take you to a large pond, Deer Park, and Bog Wood.
Last but not least is Dinefwr Castle- the original home of the owners of the Park. Although now a ruin you can get a sense of why thet built it here with its commanding views of the valley below.
Some previous reviews have criticised the staff. These could be nothing further from the truth. I found them all to be helpful and extremely knowledgeable. One of the volunteers gave my family an impromptu tours and to say he was enthusiastic would be an understatement. We also had an interesting tour describing the evolution of the house's exterior by a member of staff although both their names elude me at this time.

I’ve been before but yesterday I came with Twm. I enjoyed it immensely . There is plenty to see and do if you like deer and cows.
