A great day was had. We were there around 3 hours. Very informative, our tour guide, Daniel, was great. Not just informative but funny too. Cafe was very reasonably priced, fairly good selection of light meals/snacks etc helpful and friendly staff throughout our visit.

Have been wanting to visit the Royal Mint for some time, so while we were in the area we went along. We didn't book so had to wait 30 mins until the next tour, but we were allowed to go into the exhibition before hand, which we finished off after the tour.
The tour was very informative, allowing us to see the coins being struck, aswell as striking our own £2 coin....the tour was extremely well delivered by the lovely Bostonian Danny, who was great to listen to and very knowledgeable about everything. Definitely worth a visit.

This was an interesting visit and took about 2 hours. The exhibition was interesting and well laid out but the tour was not so good as our guide spoke very quickly and it was hard to follow the information that she was giving.
Best bit was seeing the coin being made.
Restaurant was well priced but the member of staff who took our order was slapdash and didn't pay attention and this resulted in an incorrect order being prepared for 1 of our party, which was frustrating as we had asked if they had this item and was told yes but he either did not understand or was not listening or simply didn't care.

We were given a warm welcome and taken on a really interesting and informative tour of the mint. There was also a great museum. Making our own £2 coin was also a highlight. Howard was our guide and did a great job.

Been wanting to do this experience for a while and when we finally travelled down to Wales, it was booked! Very interesting tour where Chris our tour guide explained all about the making of the money. He was fantastic - very informative and kept all the family interested with his facts. The tour itself lasts around 40 mins and then you get to go round the exhibition afterwards. There is a VIP tour you can book for extra which takes you into the factory area itself but we were happy with our tour. We decided to pay the £7.50 extra to strike our own coin (you basically press a button but still good to see) - hopefully will be worth something in years to come!!

Given a brief chat about the do's and dont's expected as its high security. Had a walk on the shop floor with all the machines running in the background. Very fascinating facts from the guide. Decided to strike my own coin. When else do you get a chance? You just push a button as opposed to swing a big hammer, but it's still worth it. Had a hot chocolate and cake after. 2 really great guys working in the cafe. All in all, a great couple of hours.

We had a fantastic day, both really enjoyed it. We got the tour tickets with strike your own coin and lunch, brilliant value. The tour was really interesting and informative and the tour guide really knew her stuff, I didn't catch her name unfortunately. The exhibition part was also really interesting too. Lunch was delicious. All the staff were so friendly, the security man even took a photo of me and my partner for us. Highly recommend as a place to visit.

What a wonderful visit we had! Katie was our tour guide and she was so knowledgable. The staff went out of their way to make sure our visit was secure and enjoyable. We opted for the Royal Mint Experience with Lunch and Strike Your Own Coin. It’s terrific value and fresh produce to choose from for lunch. Was worth the drive from northern England to visit! Highly recommend it!

Daniel brought us on a fantastic tour of The Royal Mint Experience. He ex0lained things brilliantly. Had lunch there too. Fantastic day all round.

Had a great day out at The Royal Mint. A bit hard to find, but a brilliant day out. Our guide Katie was excellent and very knowledgeable, and took time to answer all questions. We found all staff we met friendly and helpful, in the shop, security and cafe. Well done and thank you, for making our visit enjoyable.

How fast paced is the tour? Looking to take a family member who needs to go walk slowly and not be rushed long distances.

It's not a huge place, and not more than about 50m between each point of interest. The tour is so interesting, you won't be rushed round, go and enjoy it you won't be disappointed

There are two tours a general admission where yes its more general and children friendly. However there is a VIP tour which I did which was very adult centric and absolutely good value and educational too

Hello, from what I remember it cost about £6.50 to strike your own coin, but you have no control over which 50p piece is struck. The staff member does this for you.

Can you pop in for the Great British 10p coin swap without doing the tour, or do you have to do the tour and get the opportunity to swap afterwards?
Visiting 7th-9th June 2019.

No you don't have to do the tour. But if you are do the coin swap before the tour. We did the coin swap first because when we came out unfortunately there were long queues and they had run out of certain coins.

Hello,
The nearest train station is Pontyclun, however that is a least a 40 minute walk. It is advisable to book a taxi from the station to the Experience. There are many local taxi companies which can be found online.
