A nice museum but starting to show it's age a little. There is lots to read and they do a good job of providing several languages but it is a little dated now. They need a bit more interactivity. Also needs more of a theme, feels a little like a dumping ground for old plane bits.

A museum offering varied and fascinating insights into Finnish aviation next to Helsinki's Vantaa Airport. I visited on my way to the airport, alighting the train at the Aviapolis stop and then walking a short distance.
The museum has a mixture of both civil and military airframes, including some unique examples. There is a focus on the history of civil aviation in Finland and Finnair itself. Practically all exhibits are in Finnish and English. I spent about 90 minutes exploring the museum. The only downside is that the giftshop is unusually expensive (even for Finland).
I would certainly recommend this museum to anyone visiting Helsinki with an interest in aviation. It's pretty convenient to visit when travelling to/from the airport on the train line to Helsinki city centre. There are lockers to store small suitcases and backpacks etc.

This aviation museum located close to Helsinki Vanta airport. In airport area. Very nice and smart museum, with interesting aircraft colection. Students, etc. Has discounts. Aviation simulation training system visit included in tickets price. Nice and kind staff. Nice place. No dislikes. Liked everything.

This was a wonderful exhibit of Finnish aviation. We really enjoyed climbing into the planes and a few cockpits. If going in winter be sure to wear a coat and gloves, the museum gets pretty cold. Well worth the visit!

Compared to the U.S. Air Force Museum in Fairborn, Ohio, this self-tour museum is the size of a postage stamp. However, it contains absolute gems of aircraft and aircraft engines that cannot be seen in the United States. Museum is free, and it is geared to hosting groups of school children. It is crammed full of fascinating things, so full that I’m sure that they would like to have a little bit more room. It is free and easily accessible by car or Uber from Vantaa, as it is located just south of the airport. There is a bus station located within a short walk as well. Highly recommend for enthusiasts, as has everything from biplanes to war planes to old passenger planes to gliders to experimental aircraft. Even includes the rusty skeleton of a plane shot down during World War II that lay submerged for decades in a Finnish lake.

This place is important stop to all those interested in aviation. The museum holds nice variety of aircrafts.
The biggest pluses and minuses are:
+ old planes and unique helicopters
- not many fighter jets
This is a good place for education, so bring your kids with you, they will love it!
Additionally, I recommend to read an interesting history of the aircrafts or the engines, taken from the water after being shot down during the war.
Also, if you are traveler and have several hours of layover, you can go to this museum. You just need to take a train and get out on the first train stop. The museum is in walking distance from the station.

Musée très intéressant, car possédant des pièces de valeur.
Malheureusement un peu sombre, et peu interactif pour le prix (12 EUR tarif adulte).
Je recommande pour tout passionné, peut être décevant pour un public non-averti/non passionné.

One thing I learnt during my visit to Finland, is how seriously the Finns take their History. This is specifically true of the Aviation, with a number of excellent museums devoted to the subject. The Finnish Aviation Museum is the most accessible being within the boundary of the Helsinki Vantaa Airport. Waiting to greet you outside is a beautifully restored DC-3 before you enter the main undercover museum to be surrounded by a wonderful collection of aircraft that have played a significant part in Finnish Aviation. Not only do they have a complete Convair 440 (a rare item in any museum) but you can go inside and witness how air travel was 60 years ago. Many past warplanes that have been a part of the countries defence can be seen. This is a museum for all the family to enjoy and a period of refreshment can be had in a modern retaurant/cafe together with a serious souvenir gift shop, with items suitable for everyone from the early ages to the serious books on history of aviation.
It is an excellent museum, worthy of anybodies 1-3hours whilst in Helsinki.

The museum is nicely located a quick walk from the Aviapolis train station. They do have a wide assortment of Finnish Aircraft, especially gliders. While the Finnish Air Force museum does have a wider variety of military aircraft from different international manufacturers, this one focuses more on the civil aviation aspect of things. The signs here were for the most part in both Finnish and English.
It is worth noting that when visiting this place in winter, a jacket is a must, as none of the hangars are heated.
