Always showed where to change but too close for my liking considering the size of the changing rooms. Miss not able to shower after lessons. One way system not well thought out for elderly or disabled.

Love this pool but would be good if there was more public opening times before 6. Swimming area changing rooms, showers could be cleaner. Gym is never too busy, lots of choice, equipment, classes etc.

Visiting the Dollan for the first time in many years, the last time was just after it had been 'revamped' (around 15 years ago(?)) it seemed (sadly) like nothing had been updated since then. I did get a full tour of the facilities available a few days before this visit and they seemd to cover many requirements, but I just felt there was 'something missing' - something I just could not put my finger on, maybe more parking spaces in a massive grounds which is underutilised?

I entered through the front doors and was met (blocked) by a group of people - including staff members chatting away, totally ignoring me as I attempted to get close to the reception desk to pay my entrance fee - which they had successfully (after much training?) blocked. I was forced to wait and hear their very publicly audible conversation for a full 3 minutes before they realised that I was not going to walk away (their goal?) but II patiently waited to be served. Eventually they stopped talking (got bored with each other?) and I was permitted to approach the reception desk and buy a ticket for swimming. No checks were made to confirm that I was 1) a resident, 2) of a certain age and able to benefit from a concession entrance fee, I was just informed '£3.20 please' and told to go up the stairs to the changing rooms on the first floor.

On getting to the next level 'Swimming changing rooms etc' I was no wiser as to which door to enter for changing into swimwear, and asked a friendly lady who informed me that it was a mixed sex changing area, and I thanked her.

On getting changed into my swim wear I went to take a shower, as advise, only to find that they were ALL very hot, no option of adjusting temperature was obvious so a quick hot shower was the only shower.

The swimming pool appeared to be organised with pool attendants sighted around the pool, one on a high chair located along the long back wall in the middle - at the deepest part of the pool - a good location choice. They rotated there positions after a few minutes.

Swimmers were enjoying their experience and we were all informed that since it was 11th November that a 2 minutes silence would be observed, which I thought was thoughtful and proper as many of those swimming at the time were elderly and Rememberance Day is important to them AND to the education of young school children who were about to start their swimming sessions.

All around the pool were clealry displayed signs stating 'NO DIVING', the closet to me were the 2 either side of the pool at the deepest part.

I was about to push off from the side when, without warning a male swimmer dived from above me into the water, had he been 1 or 2 seconds later he would have landed on me, My first reaction was to look directly over to the Pool attendant sitting opposite me on the high chair - looking at the person who had dived in. I watched as the swimmer then swam right up to the other side - directly in front of the pool attendant, and I expected the pool attendant to say something to him about him diving in over the top of another swimmer, diving when it is not permitted, the need for showing a good example to the school children, and other swimmers, but very sadly, the pool attendant dressed in yellow - almost matching his redish greying hair did and said absolutely nothing to the male swimmer. Shocking, yes, but maybe he did not see the male swimmer dive in right in front of him, making a big splash and noise as he did, in that case he should get his glasses changed at specsavers - other outlets are available. The male swimmer continued to swim back and forth, again with the pool attendant watching him - were they friends?....

This gave me the overall picture that the Dollan is not a safe place to swim - regardless of age as the staff - regardess or role or position appear to not be interested in their roles and functions within the facility, and more importantly, the effects of NOT doing their job functions correcty.

I'd had enough by this time and decided to end my swim, and proceeded to the showers, the very same ones which could not have the temperature adjusted, so it was (again) a very brief shower.

I noticed that there is no facility to rinse out or quick dry swimwear, which meant people were wringing out their swimwear anywhere within the changing area, which was dissapointing, potentially leaving the (wet floor) area open to infections being transmitted amongst swimmers.

I'm going to swim esewhere, somewhere that wants my money and is eager to get it, and who cares for the well being of the facility users. There are many much better nearby, Distance is no object when health is being considered, especially for young children.

Ahh yes, after erading the reviews on here from other users and having grown up in and around the town of EK, I am very familia with the Dollan. All used to be great back in the day. Then South Lanarkshire Council happened. And with everything else that became the property of SLC, it went down hill fast. Sure, they've tried a couple of facelifts etc., but you could tell that it was the cheapest of the cheap and the lack of care is obvious. Sad demise to what was once a great attraction for the town.

Have been here a few times for swim meets now;
PARKING: Don't understand why a place this size has hardly any parking spaces!! Parking spaces are so narrow, if you do happen to find one, you'll be lucky if you can fit your car in it!
SPECTATORS GALLERY: Seats very uncomfortable and filthy dirty.
VENDING MACHINES: Water bottle machine broken. Coffee machine out of order.
CAFE: Went to cafe at 3.50pm to get coffee..
Staff-"sorry machines been cleaned so not can't do any more coffees."
Me-"what time.do you close?"
Staff- "4pm"
Me-"it's 10 to 4!"
Staff-"because we're not open to public today we decided to close early. We can close when we want because it's a swimming gala" !!
Surely the parents and supporters of swimmers at a gala are still members of the public! ..plus the centre still has "the public" attending the gym and aerobic classes.
POOL: Jets on causing a current in pool. Not great for competitive swimming.
TOILETS: Broken taps. Don't switch off when they should.

A good place to pop into for a nice workout and then a swim. What can I say you have to try it for yourself and if you don't like it I will be surprised. Good parking and a good price it is worth it just to try all that you can do in the baths and the gym. Pick a good day that the school kids are not there but apart from that it is great value for money.

Is a great place with very friendly staff and good facilities the only downside is in the health suite when something goes wrong with the sauna the spa bath the saunarium or the steam room then it takes a long time to fix it on one occasion both the steam room and the sauna were out of action and it took nearly six weeks for the steam room to be fixed and three months for the sauna to be repaired fotunately its all working now
