Excellent gardens. Staff friendly and helpful
However...the website warning about road diversions nearby needs strengthening. Midhurst is a disaster area. We failed to get to the Grange car park because of road closures.
We were forced to park on a nearby verge - against all the NT advice ! BUT we had no choice.
Also no lunch available as late as 13.15.
No lunches had been delivered to the cafe.
The coffee was excellent !

We were in the area on the right day so decided to visit Woolbeding, so glad we did as it was lovely. Slightly early in the season, it must be even more beautiful when there are more flowers out.
A great variety to keep the interest - formal gardens, glasshouses, outdoor spaces and the brilliant 'Long Walk' with follies and vistas - a great modern take on an 18th century pleasure garden, and really not a very long walk at all!
The system of shuttle buses from Midhurst seemed to work extremely well with very frequent buses, moreover all the staff/volunteers be they on the buses, in the coffee shop or in the gardens were all super-friendly, helpful and welcoming. Even though it was a wet day, they helped to make it a really good experience.

This is the most amazing gardens , from the minute you stepped onto the small coach waiting to take you to the gardens a short journey away you were treated with exceptional service . Every member of staff treated you with a smile and offered to make your day a memorable one, the volunteer who gave a short talk about the gardens was full of such knowledge you felt you just wanted to listen to more.
The silk route garden is a real treat and the glasshouse being quite unbelievable even a banana tree inside !
Then the gardens beyond were an absolute delight.
We would like to say thank you to all the gardeners , and all the staff and volunteers and of course to Simon Sainsbury and Stewart Grimshaw for making the gardens possible its a very special place to visit.
And if I may say, being dog free made it so much more of a pleasant experience .

Limited opening hours and a lack of parking mean you have to book a slot and be collected in a minibus from the Midhurst leisure centre car park - not really a hardship as it means visiotr numbers are low at any one time. The formal and informal gardens are wonderful. There is the added attraction of a spectacular fountain and of the Thomas Heatherwick glasshouse. There is a relatively low-key National Trust presence and a nice tea room.

Visited the Gardens for the first time last week. It's been on my to do list for a while.
There is a super strict booking scheme where you book a timed slot and minibus from nearby Midhurst.
You cannot turn up and you cannot park on site unless disabled.
The minibus turns up on time, staff check your name off your list and you're whisked away.
On arrival there was a 2 minute wait to get checked in and welcomed by staff. The staff could not have been more charming if they tried.
The Gardens are initially more formal and split into rooms separated by yew hedges. The planting is mixed and generally highly attractive.
The greater grounds are vast with large parklands to winder down to the river.
Around the other side of the church is the new silk road planting. Thus is a wonderful piece of planting that shows drought tolerant plants with a path leading to the wonderful glasshouse. The glasshouse is an amazing structure in itself and its juxtaposition on the traditional English landscape is a work of genius. (But some will hate it).
There is a small cafe there and I found the service to be excellent. The staff were very friendly. My scone was fresh and the coffee tasted delightful.
Going to Woolbeding Gardens is a must. Its a hidden gem.
The only down side is the rude boomers who get a bit 'best elbows at dawn' to push there way onto the minibus. Ultimately, that's got nothing to do with the venue just other people's bad maners and there entitled attitude.
Don't be put off by the minibus though, do visit and do book ahead.
Its a gem.

Amassing gardens with the famous Woolbeading opening green house. The gardens were separated into “rooms” each with a different theme. Well worth a visit

Outstanding garden layed put in different rooms. Each one a feast for the eyes. So wish the swimming pool allowed a dip! Love the new conservatory and silk route, wish we had seen it open. A lovely stroll to the long walk. A contrast from the formal gardens. Wish we could see inside the house, as looks beautiful

Spent a lovely few hours in large gardens - beautifully kept. Formal gardens with interesting and attractive plant combinations; walks through meadows and copses to 'ruined abbey' (an evocative reconstruction) and along the 'Silk Route' for a bit of garden history. The Thomas Heatherwick glasshouse is unusual and definitely worth a look, whatever your view on it.
The coffee's good, the gardeners very approachable and informative and the minibus from Midhurst worked perfectly to timetable (check website for details). A quirky day out for all!

As soon as you walk through the gateway it's relaxing. Stunning planting, views that invite investigation, walled garden, views, meanderings and just a feast for the senses. Went May 2022. Minibus driver does take a break for lunch, check times if you need to get back for anything... Like school pick up as I did. Lovely friendly staff.
No cafe.. Not sure if any plans to reopen after covid.. Would be so lovely to be able to get a coffee and cake but they welcome bringing your own and many many places to sit and have a view, close or far.

We love coming here, just a shame only open couple of days during the week so can only get here when on leave. A beautiful garden, and immaculately kept. Love the different garden rooms, and wish we could take a dip in the swimming pool! Shame cafe now closed.
