Good day out, had plenty of fun, didn't go on all the rides, only ride we really had to wait on was ghost train and it was the biggest disappointment. All other rides we only had to wait on one ride. Wasn't too crowded but went a week before school holidays.

Tram stop in front of it and adjacent trams are not too far from the Park itself. There are plenty of parking around the park and along St. Kilda beach.
Tickets can be purchased online or at the kiosks at the front gate. Different types of tickets available from single to unlimited rides and family passes.
The Park is clean, but do be notified that due to the age and size of the park most rides are old and not as intense as theme park rides. Queue times can get more than 45min depending on crowd. We only went on one ride the Great Scenic Railway.
Carnival games were limited. Other facilities like toilets and benches were clean, food and gift bag shops were of theme park pricing.

There is usually a tram stop quite close by, on the day we went it was closed due to events so we had a little walk along the beach area.
Compared to Sydney this is older and a little smaller. My partner also said the clown face entrance was scarier. Looks impressive from outside with the scenic railway roller coast going right around the outside.
An entry fee is now required to go inside, but includes one ride. This works out cheaper than being forced to buy a whole day unlimited ride ticket etc, for people like us who only wanted to do one or two things. Additional single ride tickets are available at a premium or the day pass. You may check the math with current information but I think it you would do 3-4 or more rides, it was worth getting the day pass.
We didn’t eat, but there were the expected choices. We did play a game of the clowns, the attendant was friendly- if not a little teasing.
We went on a Sunday noon and it was lovely without being crowded. We rode the historic roller coaster which was just a good thrill level for me! We also made the mistake of riding the ghost train- for a single ticket premium price- I don’t recommend. It’s incredible lame- but then we still came out smiling.
Just be careful to check the opening hours before visiting as it is limited during certain seasons and only open on weekends or certain evenings etc.

I came onto this site last week looking for tips as I planned to visit the park last weekend. All past reviews seemed to focus on crowd size and park size with virtually no actual tips to help future visitors so here’s what I leant
THE PARK: The park is small but there is a lot to do. The rides closely resemble a large country traveling show or the Easter Show with a very similar vibe to the park. It is definitely no Disneyland.
PARKING : Parking is good. Virtually all sides of the park perimeter have nearby parking. We visited the same day as St Kilda festival so the streets were packed with people yet we still found a parking spot within a few minutes and walked by two other empty spaces in the 2 minutes walk to the entrance. Parking in all nearby carparks cost $6 per hour or $16.50 for the entire day.
TICKETS: The park websites advisors you to pre-purchase tickets as they are still limiting numbers as part of COVID safety. However our circumstances prevented this so we had to purchase at the gate. The perfect weather and the increased crowds in the area due to the St Kilda festival left us a little nervous the park would be full but we arrived at 3:00pm to a queue of about 20 people and were admitted entry within a few minutes. Re-entries were not permitted. So if you left the park for any reason you would need to purchase another entry ticket. However in reality your colour wrist band would still work for accessing rides so if in an emergency you would just need to purchase a $15 observer pass to re-enter.
WAIT TIMES: We were warned on purchasing tickets that crowds were high and the lines long. To our surprise we entered and saw most rides had seemingly short lines of only 10-40 people. We were fooled. Unlike other theme parks who churn through lines like this in a matter of minutes, ride turn round in this park is excessively slow. The staff were all very pleasant and the safety checks very thorough with most things been double checked by two different staff members. While this contributed to the slow moving lines and we were more than happy to accept, it was a little annoying to watch the staff chat amongst themselves and work almost in slow motion at times as they went through their procedures. It is definitely the culture of the park as it was the same for all rides and a stark contrast to all other theme parks we have visited. Most rides took between 7-10 minutes for each rotation. One ride was a full 15 minutes between the last ride and the next. Even on this ‘high’ crowd day and slow lines most rides were only a 5-20 minute wait. The most popular rides are the Ghost train and the Scenic railway (the iconic roller-coaster that circumnavigates the entire perimeter of the park). Our wait for the ghost train mid-afternoon was 30 minutes - later in the night this dropped to about a 15 minute wait. Our longest wait was for the railway and was just over 1 hour. If you want to estimate your time for this ride each stretch of the zigzag wait chains equates to around 15minutes. So if you join the line when 4 rows of the zigzag are full you will wait around 1 hour. Each reload of the ride took 7-8 minutes. We observed this queue throughout the day and this ride maintained this hour long wait for the majority of the day dipping to a 45 minute wait occasionally. It did seem shortest about 8-9pm when we rode again after a 45min wait to get the after dark experience.
LEAVING THE QUEUE: There was a food truck parked directly at the railway line entrance and many people were leaving their party in the slow queue, buying food, and then squeezing back through the queue to their saved spot to eat and drink in line. We did over hear a supervisor telling the attendant a person had complained about this and it was not allowed. If anyone left the queue for any reason they must re-join the end. Immediately after agreeing to this she continued to allow people to leave and re-join as they had been doing before. So on our second ride my daughter jumped in line. I went and purchased churros and hot chocolates and then squeezed past those inline to catch up to my daughters position. The attendant happily waived me through and all but one sanctimonious family was happy enough for me pass by. Given they allow single guest to take a carriage to themselves (members of different parties are never requested to sit together on any ride) anyone doing the maths would realise one person joining back in the queue to join a friend would not change anyone’s wait time at all.
PERSONAL BELONGINGS: The website states no loose items allowed on any ride and lockers available for hire. I even called the park to get clarification on this but got no additional help so I chose to take a secure three prong bum bag for my phone and compact light cardigan. These bags are permitted on the majority of rides in most world theme parks but NOT here! However if you have your phone out of sight in an unsealed pocket that is permitted! My recommendation would be to just have your phone and any small essentials in zipper or secure pockets and a jumper tied around your waist. If you do have a bag with you there are shelves at the entrance of every ride that only your ride load of people have access to so the chances of anything being stolen is very slim. People were leaving their iPhone on these shelves. Lockers are available if you did need to secure items for around $10.
FOOD: There were only 2 food venues, both seemed to be operated by completely different entities but both selling standard burgers, hot dogs chips, ice cream etc. One was the van parked outside the railway queue. One was a store toward the park entrance. When purchasing tickets online you had the option to pre-purchase a meal deal - burger (~$17) or hotdog (~$15) with chips and drink. This is no saving to the costs in the park from the store. In fact the meal deals themselves are no saving to buying the three separate individual items. The store did not advertise it sold hotdogs all the meal deal but when we asked they did. The van was slightly more expensive but the food seemed a little better quality. We noticed the store closed around 7pm so in the evening the van was the only food option. The food was standard quality for show food. The hot chocolates from the van were good.
PURCHASES: All purchase from entry to food to merchandise can be made with payWave. There was one slushy cart that had a sign saying cash only but it was closed.
TOILETS: Toilets are located at the back of the food store (park entrance end) or in a trailer/shipping container type structure at the far end of the park. They were very grotty. There are painted footprints on the ground throughout the park. If you are wanting the male toilets follow the white footprints. For the female toilets follow the yellow footprints.
We stayed from 3pm until closing at 10pm and rode approximately 20 rides. It was extremely enjoyable and great value for money. If you love show rides I would highly recommend.

I have visited Luna park as a Support Worker with clients living with disabilities twice in the last 2 months and both times “Oliver” an employee at the park has been wonderful! He is always happy and helping the customers with a smile. He really is an asset to the park. A few other employees could learn from him! Great day, thank you Oliver, our clients loved the Spider!

I like Luna Park always have but they serious need to give it a makeover add loads of colour, better rides
Make not just for kids some for the cool adults I went to a bar we muckd around all day went there
Wanted something crazy fun see they need like a disco part flashing lights crazy roller skating to
Very scary terrifying ghost train only for adults leave the kids one how it is
We need a theme park for adults there's nothing
Yes it's iconic Luna Park but it's time to move on you know collecting making making it in buisness is one thing but you always need to depend money to make money and draw more of a crowd
Anyway still it's ok place to visit if you not fussed about much

Very expensive for waiting hours in line.
I wanted to do the rollercoaster and after waiting 1h in line and not moving forward I just left. Paid lot of money for nothing. Worse tourist trap ever!

This is a dishonest business that just tries to get as much money for as little value as possible. There was barely any staff, very long waits, and most of the food and drink venues were closed for events. Many rides were shut and the park didn't even open until 11am. Since you can't pay for less than a full day that is deceptive and dishonest. Noone should ever go there ever again. If I could give zero stars I would.

Being a tall and plus size person I assumed I wouldn’t fit or be suitable for all rides. I was too tall for the rollercoaster, but that wasn’t signposted anywhere so was very painful when the attendant said it would be fine when my knees were literally crushed. I was happy to get off, even after standing in the line for an hour but she said it was fine. Still have pain two weeks later. I had too big of a tummy to go on another ride; which is fine, the attendant was nice about it but it really isn’t suitable for anyone above a size 16, depending on how they show they’re weight. I also happened to get food poisoning from one of the food trucks that was poised outside the rollercoaster line. So be very wary of any meat products. The park was a little lame too, could do with a few more attractions, even if it’s not rides.

Still under renovation so some rides/ areas are closed.....not sure it's value for money at the moment. Kids were gutted that the dodgem cars were closed.
Staff are very attentive and do safety checks very thoroughly which is reassuring given how old some of the rides are!
School holidays was BUSY! Long wait times for rides and many rides not open....
Have found it better previously. Disappointed this time.

Luna Park Melbourne has rides for all ages, young children need supervision at all times.
Depending on the ride will depend on the height of the child which will determine which rides a child can take by themselves.
Luna Park is open Saturdays and Sundays in May 2018.
Family pass for unlimited rides is around $150.
Hi there x can I take my own snacks and drinks into the park? Many thanks :)

Can a 6 years old (120cm) takes most rides by herself so that I do not need ticket for myself?

It depends on the ride, the website has a function which you can sort the rides based on the height (i.e. 120-130cm). Based that your daughter is 120cm- she can ride on 17/20 rides. There are rides like the roller coaster, and the other fast moving rides such as the Enterprise and Prahrahs Curse that you may want to join her if she isnt that daring or independent. Also depending on the other people present, and her ability prehaps joining her on the Dodgem Cars?
One adult and child 9 how much to enter?
