The Williamstown Cenotaph commemorates those who died in service or were killed in action during World War One. It was unveiled in 1925 and officially dedicated in 1934.
Armistice Day. At Williamstown the approach of the two minutes silence requested by the Lord Mayor was indicated by the tolling of church bells and shrill blasts from the docks and the vessels in the bay. At 11 o dock more than 1000 citizens assembled at the memorial to the fallen men of men of the district which has been erected on the foreshore at the corner of Ferguson street and Nelson place. The ceremony of unveiling the monument was performed by the mayor (Councillor J J Liston) with whom were associated the members of the council, the town clerk, and Chaplain Major A.M. Mitchell, representing the State Council of the Returned Sailors and Soldier`s Association. The monument an obelisk of Harcourt granite. It cost £1,521 to which the council made a donation of £1,000, the remaining amount being raised by public subscription.

Situated right on the water edge, there is a really nice view of the city. In the reserve are two large cannon and a beautiful memorial to those who gave their lives in the Great War.

This small reserve sits between the Williamstown Sailing Club and Ferguson Street Pier and has great views of the city. Like many parks in Williamstown it needed the grass cutting and some attention to detail . It house two giant Armstrong Cannons which were originally located at Fort Gellibrand to repel the Russian navy which never came and they were never fired. Go for the view.

Morley Reserve has several interesting features, the prime object being the World War I War Memorial. This Cenotaph is a fitting memorail to the local men - all volunteers -- who perished in WWI. Continuing the military theme, there are several mussle loaded cannons on display, all in very good condition. There's a rather elderly toilet block, and you can take a wander down Ferguson Pier. Morley Reserve is also a good place to catch the seabrease off Hobson's Bay in the afternoon. There;s a playground for the ankle biters. Nearby is the Famine Memorial, commemorating the two million Irish people who starved or emmigrated during the disasterous potato famine 1845 - 52.

The small park runs from Ferguson Street to the Willaimstown Sailing Club and has some interesting old relics but its most significant feature is the view across Hobson's Bay to Melbourne.A walk down Ferguson Street Pier is also worthwhile as is the White House opposite the centre of the park on the Strand.

After a visit to the info centre, we also walked further up to this reserve, with beautiful old cannons and well kept grounds. A good place to enjoy some more greenery next to the bay.

The John E Morley reserve has a toilet block to its North (just next to Burgoyne Reserve) and some wonderful old English cannons, from about 150 years ago I think. There is also a war memorial on the Strand a short distance away.

The park is essentially the green strip between the Strand and the water of Hobsons bay which provides a pleasant place to walk along the strand with great view of the city across the bay.

We decided to have an impromptu picnic but all the tables are unshaded - which is not good on a Melbourne summer's day.
