My wife and I don't go to castles very often, but I was in Trenčín Teplice and we decided to visit the monumental Trenčín Castle a few kilometers away.
This castle "looks" at you from afar with its dominant feature. One of us is after a knee operation and the steep climb was not quite ideal, but after overcoming the initial hill, a great show awaited us with a wonderful view not only of Trenčín, but also of the distant surroundings.
There is a cafe in the castle with nice older ladies, although the food is good, but we didn't mind.
We paid for the one-hour longer tour with a guide. Our guide, Renáta, with heavily rusty hair, took care of us. She was really nice, helpful and above all an expert in her profession. Since we were four visitors, we learned a lot of remarkable information.

Such a small place with so much beauty.

One of my favourites castles in Slovakia, I've been to the castle many times before and I love coming back.
The way up from the city square is steep and there is a lot of stairs but it manageable (the view is wort it).
At the desk you can choose from guided tours or you can also visit some aprts of the castle on your own. I absolutely love every part of the castle, the gardens are beautiful. There are some small shops to get souveniers, coffee and quick snacks.
It's definitely worth a visit!

We ended a beautiful trip to this castle in 2023. The views were amazing. Very tasty mulled wine in the local cafe where you could buy tourist items. Otherwise, the castle is considered a landmark of the city. '-)))

This place is amazing! First, the climb up to the castle is steep! There are signs and a couple of ways to get there, just follow the HRAD/castle signs All the signs are in Slovak,English and German. I signed up for big tour and it was well worth it as I got to see a couple of castles within the complex that are not accessible to self guided tourists. I really lucked out -as they were having a huge wine fest the next day, the place was pretty empty and I was the only one on my tour! The guide speaks English, in fact he's an English teacher. He is extremely knowledgeable! The castle itself is a walk through time -beginning in Roman times. There are so many interesting artifacts, including a mammoth jaw and teeth! It is the third largest castle in Slovakia. Now to the details: there are a LOT of stairs, and the ones to the tower are steep, narrow and high. The view, though is well worth the climb. I hope you will visit this amazing castle and the sweet pedestrian zone filled with lovely cafes and great views of the castle looming overhead. It is only an hour (fast train) hour and a half (slow train) from Bratislava. It is an easy walk from the train station through a park to the main street.

The castle is well-preserved, has a large area and looks beautiful from the outside. However, there is not much to see there. Permanent exhibitions are very average. For me, the compulsion to visit the so-called a large route with a guide. First of all, there is nothing unusual on this route that you cannot see for yourself by reading the descriptions or using the audio guide. Moreover, the guide is only in Slovak (apparently it is also available in English, but unfortunately not on this day). There are no attractions for children or teenagers. No interactivity or atmosphere. You just look at display cases with not very original exhibits and the guide tells you what they are. Time stopped here at the end of the last century. To sum up - it is worth coming, taking a walk, climbing the tower; It is absolutely not worth paying for a large route with a front passenger.

We went here today and it was well worth the price. They have a number of different options for you to do for tours. We chose the one that was self guided and had 90% of the castle which for four people came out to be €34.
This is not a ruin but more so a restored castle that is supposed to look how it was. This place has many incredible views and has plenty of places to sit if you have kids or older people with you. You are also able to go up the main tower which will give you an incredible view of the surrounding area. As a warning the stairs are steep and narrow but well worth the view.

I visited in May 2023 using the good train service from Bratislava. At the time there were building works at the difficult to find castle entrance - not well marked from the street below - and visitors are redirected to a poorly marked path through woods. Reasonable fitness is needed for the climb to the temporary entrance at the top. I was happy to view the outside and did not go in but was pleased to have seen. If you visit by train look out for Beckov castle visible between Nove Mesto and Trencin.

c'est une ville merveilleuse, magnifique... Cette petite ville est très bien pour la vie de famille. Il y a beaucoup de beaux sites naturels et plusieurs options d'activités pour les enfants et même les adultes. C ´est un lieu chargé d'histoire. Le point de repère s'élève au-dessus de la partie historique de la ville.

In een wat troosteloze stad een heel mooi stadscentrum. Een imposant kasteel maar heel erg beperkt toegankelijk.
